Adrenalist
I absolutely love this side of RDR. I really hope that RDR2 brings this back with a much more intricate system. Meeting different people for side quests. Building a gambling reputation that can open doors for the character, possibly becoming a dealer as a side quest, where one can end up buying the gambling hall, then pick the best NPC players to be a dealer for you, and protecting it when robbed. It would be cool to burn through someone's money so they put tangibles on the table including hyper rare items that clue to an intricate Easter egg hunt. Gambling could be made deeply elaborate and be a lot more fun than winning just one hand to unlock an outfit. But, given R*'s penchant for Sharkcard cash, and their departure of gambling from the GTA series, I am a bit worried that they may not include it in the forthcoming RDR title. What do you think will be the future of gambling in RDR2? Edited June 19, 2017 by Adrenalist 1898, Spaghetti Cat and MCMXCII

Dick Justice
It'll be in single player. It was a much loved feature in the original and I'd be surprised if there weren't even more games to play. In online - doubtful. I'm pretty sure gambling laws are what stopped them from including it in GTA Online but maybe they'll find a workaround. Don't quote me on that because I'm unfamiliar with the rules. DC4B18, Dee-account-with-1kbans and BUT THE BENZ

Jabalous
I will be shocked if people exchanged real money by RDR2O's Buffalo Cards in order to spend it in a virtual gambling lobby. Will make me question humanity... Payne Killer
1898
The problem with the online poker etc. was that no one really had anything at stake. So what you end up with is everyone going all-in on every hand. They need to come up something so that it really matters. But your idea of being able to run your own gambling hall is one of the best I've heard. I'd be all over that one. MCMXCII
I don't believe RDR2 will hit the same levels as GTAO. So I can see Rockstar being less dependant on shark cards with RDRO as they are with GTAO. So I believe we will have gambling in RDR2. Though only time will tell once the game is released. Adrenalist
Some thought provoking replies, thank you gentlemen. I'm sure the government rules vary from country to country, too. And given the lame Haitian and Hot Coffee fiascos, I'm pretty sure the R* team wants to tread lightly and protect themselves. I just hope it doesn't hurt this part of the experience. It is part of the grain here and would be a travesty to see let go.
Homemade Dynamite
I really hope they at least include the games. I spent so many hours playing Liar's Dice online, and I want to continue in RDR2. MCMXCII

Makes sense... allowing gambling in GTA:O would effectively allow people to gamble with real money which is a big no-no depending on your state and country... but at the same even though you're potentially gambling with real money, you're not going to win any real money, unlike in real life gambling. With RDR2 they could create a system where money obtained through micro-transactions (Shark Cards equivalent) couldn't be used for gambling. Lol you're not playing for real cash. You can't convert 5 Indian nickels on RDR 2 to USD. That's like saying random loot boxes are illegal
