Solo Public lobby (Xbox One)

Does anyone know the easiest way to find a public session by your self on Xbox one, since the playlist method of finding one got patched. Also unplugging my internet cable for around 5-7 seconds Doesn't work either, cause it take me back to story mode. Also constantly spamming find new session doesn't help either cause I get spawned into full lobbies and will never get put into one alone.

i don't really know how to find solo public lobbies because it just happens to me and i don't even realize it. just wait around in lobbies and maybe you'll be lucky enough where everyone just leaves.

i don't have Xbox but i read in another thread that MTU thing works well. don't know what the f.. is this lol. but it seems that if you set a 600 or 800 MTU in your console, the game interprets it like if you had an horrible connection, and thus you stay alone. search google

There's no option to change MTU on Xbox one so therefore I cannot use that method.

This guy claims he found a way to do it but it requires a friend:

I tried that method with my friend, but he spawned in the same lobby with 10 players.

Just a suggestion about your cord pulling attempts, try doing it with your character on the move...

I tried that as well but it does the same thing, it comes up with unable to determine a new host, then it comes up with files required to play GTA online afterwards and then goes back into story mode. Only other method I can think of is blocking the ports on my router so then it forces me into a solo lobby.

Lag switch

I've tried that aswell (xLag) but it just comes up with connection to sesssion lost due to unknown network error and takes me back into story mode.

For me the most reliable way of lagging people out is actually the other way around. Start the game on wifi and then when you land in a public lobby plug in your Ethernet cable.

I also tried that but my Xbox will not even get a internet connection with a internet cable plugged in. It just boots me back into single player. So I've just resulted in finding low populated lobbies with less than 10 players. And eventually they will leave.

Stop raping your hardware with lagswitches and UDP flood, it's moronic at best and stop sharing these malicious advice. It just means you know nothing about networking. Use your router firewall to block ports and enjoy solo sessions without playlists, switches and forget about joining random. Downside: you're truly solo and won't be able to join anything too.

Here is R* published list of ports required for Online to function. DO NOT BLOCK TCP ports 80 and 443, if you don't know why just trust me: don't. You will be 99.9% happy with blocking 6672 both IN and OUT , try it first. If it's not working, block UDP ports from the list completely. Voila, you're golden.

Why use firewall?

  • It's elegant and flexible, some router firmwares can allow you to even schedule rules application. With a bit of creativity it's even possible to configure it the way ETH1 port is firewalled for solo and ETH2 is not and simply switching cable to your console from one port to another will do the trick. Overall it's easy as hell, just RTFM;
  • It's not interfering with anything else on the network;
  • It's beyond moronic to DOS your own network if you have other options. It's like setting your kitchen on fire to get rid of flies;
There are guides on the internet on how to do it, but it's pretty straightforward
  • Identify your router model and manufacturer. Either google the manual or go to manufacturer support page and find it there;
  • Fins out how to backup your router settings and back it up. If you're not network proficient, it will save you from any troubles in the future;
  • Go to firewall section and find out how to use it. Add rules for both IN and out directions for any IP addresses1, select block and protocol UDP;
  • You don't need to restart the game, just find the new session. Your router may require a reboot to apply these settings, don't worry;
  • If it works, you can just go straight to online from loading screen and you will be put in solo.
1 Unless you have several consoles and want to separate them in Online functionality (ex. your brother is a penis and you want him to suffer in public)

I suggest doing this if you don't want to play with your firewall (which, let's face it, I don't want to mess with my internet when other people are using it. I'd rather mess with my Xbox). It's some fiddling, yes, but so far the only method my friends and I can make sales without being hassled by randoms. I'd like for someone to give it a shot to confirm it works and to hopefully plan out the steps to be more concrete.

Any idea on if this will work on a sky router? For a Xbox one. I gave it a try yesterday but every time I keep finding a new session it would just keep on timing out and go back into story mode.

XLag behaves like that for me sometimes. For me, it's like a 80% success rate, but I think it depends how strong your internet is (mine is pretty trash). However, you should try these if you haven't.

  • Set the level of lag to high instead of intense. It may take longer to lag yourself out of a lobby but it lowers your chance of getting kicked out of said lobby completely.
  • Don't leave it on intense for too long, or else you will get an error. I usually turn the lag off around 5-7 seconds in. The size of the lobby may be a factor to how long it should be left on.
  • If you don't lag out instantly after you turn it off, don't worry, it will take a few more seconds after shutting it off for the whole lobby to split.

UDP Unicorn. I downloaded it myself after fiddling with MTU, Port Forwarding, Port Blocking as well as DHCP settings on my router for over 2 hours last night. I couldn't tell if i had done it correctly after setting up a static IP for my X1, but for X1, UDP Flooding is a surefire way to attain Solo Public. It may need some tweaking on your part, but its a very simple program to use.

Download to PC (it may get flagged by your antivirus as a flooder, just ignore or add an exception for it), then open it and i read a post somewhere that if you set your packets to 5, target 27.27.27.27 and the port dropdown to xbox live, your golden. The trick here is to find how to drop your connection and trick the game into thinking you cant find a session when you can. I also read (wish i could source this guy) if you hit GO from the pause menu in story mode, wait till you enter the clouds (the highest camera, third womp sound) and hit the attack button. Let it attack, minimum 20 seconds, maximum 40 seconds, and click it again to stop attacking. Now generally you will know its done the job as the the clouds will reform and camera will move to your online character's last position. My success rate on this has been spotty but when it works, it works great.

From here you are obviously free to grind whatever you please as generally (and, i know not all sessions will stay empty) 1 or 2 players may enter. I haven't got to the stage where that happens as my last session had a solo public playtime of about 3 hours, just enough time to run the gunrunning resupplies for the mission unlocks, and for the 100% resupply rate on the Bunker laptop.

If you can't use UDP for whatever reason or are unwilling, last ditch effort is to try the wifi to ethernet trick which seems to be quite popular at the minute. Switching my MTU on my router for Xbox One just kept dropping me to single player (that was with values of 1280, 1160, 1000, 900, and 800. All were dropping me out after several minutes).

Gonna post my 13 resupply scenario's (just me in session, no partner) in an appropiate thread. FYI they are doable solo.

tl;dr - UDP Unicorn.

You're pulling the wrong cable, you need the one between router and modem/wall not the one in your xbox.

And if you do try lag switches, which I DO NOT RECOMMEND, you need to use port 6672 not the XBL port.

I've been trying this now for the past 2 days and it's seems to be working and putting me in my own lobbies. I've also been using a program on my pc called Netcut, and cutting of the connection on my Xbox IP address for 10 seconds then resuming it. And it normally says everyone has left after about 10 seconds. After a while tho random players with start to join.
