They must've hot patched it. If this is the case though im lucky as hell cuz I just finished completing all 3 tiers for the Combat MG, Heavy Sniper and Carbine Rifle.

You want it NEXT to the yellow circle where they are just barely touching

It took me many attempts to get it right, so I'm sure you can get it eventually too. Got it on my first try after the third game crash.

I'd be happy to do this because I think these challenges are ridiculously hard on console, but god knows when I'll have access to the suit, and I don't have money to fast track it. Argh.

If you're like me and you don't want to upgrade (or even own) all the MkII versions of the six guns, this glitch may actually be a lower-cost way to get the challenges done.

Each gun has a $125,000-$200,000 fee to upgrade plus the researched add-ons to make it more accurate and hold more ammo so you're not reloading mid-challenge so you pass the challenges in Rockstar's intended way

I am in the same boat as you. Even with the mini gun I score 2200 on carbine tier 2. I'm afraid to see what tier 3 points are for this

EDIT: Nice and easy, all done now. The key is to use burst fire and aim at chest to rack up the multiplier.

I finally got tier 3 on all weapons legit and had a lot fun doing it. Doesn't anybody want to be challenged in this game? having stuff pretty much handed to you is lame and not fun. Plus the rewards are definitely worth it.

Well, I just got it in my first go with this method.

 

For some reason, I thought there was about a 1 second pause before the mini gun started firing (Mostly all miniguns in every game have to charge up a second), but nope. Burst fire for sure works.

I'm thinking the minigun is the problem for me for that test since it spews bullets all over, so most hits are +5's. If I can get +30's and +45's with the MkI Carbine it will trade off the slower rate of fire with accuracy.

Minigun. Be sure to aim so that the minigun barrel is constantly rotating. Again though, aim at the center chest so that your multiplier doesn't go down.

Thanks mate. I didn't find the Tier 1 challenges too hard once I learned to use third person + zoom in (I'm on PC), but the Tier 2 ones were ridiculous. I hit headshots near-constantly with my MkII rifle and because of the spread it misses once or twice, resetting my score counter. Firing in bursts means less score per second, meaning that I fall short of the score requirement. I've only ever gotten up to ~2500 score, the requirement to win the challenge is ~2900. I managed to get gold on all ammunition shooting ranges on PS4, but even that wasn't NEARLY as difficult as this.

I have never used a glitch in my life.

But this I might actually try, those shooting range challenges are just too effi'n hard.

 

They're not even hard, it was sloppy. sh*tty programming. They didn't even test them, they just picked random numbers and there you go. You require perfect accuracy and to be extremely lucky to get the targets close, otherwise you just waste time aiming around.

Thanks, I'm trying this. Spent $20M fast tracking Research for both characters, I don't have time for silly extreme rock-hardest gun range challenges. Have to Heist this weekend to start recouping my $60M back lol

Thank you so much for that suggestion. I got as much as 2785 with the MkI Carbine, but the burst method on minigun won Tier-2 on the second try and Tier-3 on the first try

started a new try today and got all stars in a row without failing. no freezes

 

sometimes the game saves during this competition (randomly? or at a special playtime?)

 

i suggest you to start with the carbine challenge since its the hardest.

Hopefully this method still works when I'm back home. I've planned on getting all the research fast tracked today in order to get the juggernaut suit as well as the other items.
