Should the explosive rounds be unlocked from achieving something?

269 members have voted

  1. 1. Should the explosive rounds be unlocked after passing the tier 3 for the heavy sniper at the bunker gun range?

    • Yes, an ammo type like this should be earned and respected. This ammo type should be rare and not common on the battlefield.
      131
    • No, this ammo makes my sniper like a railgun and I like it.
      138
  2. 2. Should the explosive rounds be unlocked after getting an amount of kills with the two new scopes or attachments?

    • Yes, there should be a significant challenge that lets you earn access to theses rounds Leave this ammo to those who actually respect and care about sniping. Not just your average guy looking for cheap kills on everything and everything.

    • No.

  3. 3. Are the explosive rounds Over Powered?

    • Yes, picture a Railgun with a long distance scope and a good rate of fire.

Was involved in a few duels with opponents equipped with an Explosive Sniper. Actually, it's not that scary as people describe it. Especially on a close range.

I still use marksman rifle, saving the explosive ammo for better use. It's funny that some explosive snipers tend to quit the session after they taste their own medicine :D

Nah nah nah Gta 6

due to the fact that ammo is extremely limited (and can only be bought from the MOC) and some high levels wont die in one hit, i'd say the balancing could be much worse.

then again, what exactly is considered balanced in this game anyway?

Does anyone else have trouble with their thermal scope just turning itself off randomly? Only started last couple days.

It really isn't scary. They still have to hit you. I got into a sniper battle with two guys the other day. The only way I knew they were firing explosive ammo is because the shots were hitting something behind me, in the distance.

They still have to hit you.

I've had plenty of kills shooting the ground in front of a moving player before they emerged from cover.

And I'm pretty sure I killed a guy inside a store yesterday from splash damage through the wall.

Some of the players from my crew reported this as well, however I am not sure if everyone knows that you can turn on and off termal scope whenever you want by pressing right click button on your controller.

They're fun to use in heists. Can't wait to use it in Pacific Standard - Convoy.

It all depends if you're on an even level or not. If you're high up above them (which you should always aim to be), then you can hit near their feet much easier.

On the same level though, I wouldn't bother using up my explosive rounds. Sure you've got better odds than the other guy since it's one hit, but you could get killed and lose the bullets you're holding too.

I'm very careful to save the ammo with it usually.

I have that myself actually too.

How many 'boom' rounds can you carry max? (if you completed all gun range challenges)?

Bummer, wished it's a bit more.

It should be fine though, I would only use it for NPC choppers and cars.

This is correct, ive manage to incur some cost's of splash damage blowing up things that I didnt want it to, it can work for you at times, and it can work against at time too

Keep in mind that if you die when holding the rifle, your death effectively costs $1950 instead of $500, seeing as you drop ammo now from your held weapon when dying. (Not sure if it's a bug or intentional!)

In the early days of GTAO, deaths actually were $2000 and also applied to dying in deathmatches and such :catspider: it was 'orrible.

Depending on what I want to do, I switch back to normal ammo. With just the thermal scope it is the perfect weapon to get rid of hiding NPCs for instance. Not to forget mentioning you can SEE every NPC on a mission scene. No more peek a boo aimbot surprises.

Honestly, that is too powerful and expensive combo for NPC.

For a long time now, I am able to dispatch packs of enemies with almost any weapon, including handguns , shotguns or SMGs. When I was role-playing as 007, i would go against NPCs only with SNS pistol. It would take more patience and different approach, but I was still able to deal with them effectively.

This has been happening to me since day one of Gunrunning. Happens randomly, and sometimes back to back fast.

Marksman rifle? Lol, you have no idea how many people got pissed and annoying when they gets killed by marksman rifle

I won't use marksman rifle at first but if they use pussy acts and being a tryhard, then they are asking for my precious spamman rifle.

And on top of that, I'll call my Dukes o Death so I can pump my AP Pistol in their heads and bodies. DoD can withstand H.S Mkii with explosive rounds.

Me and friend made a lot of idiots leave the session and who started the fights? Exactly, they started. Make use of the vehicles and weapons.

After one of those helmet wearing face painted and ghost org tryhards tried killing me and failed, i killed him couple of times with the marksmen so he ran to his jet.. two explosive rounds later he's crying that I'm using OP weaponry.

If the CEO gets angry because they failed to protect their shipment, they brought out in the open, knowing the risks. They have no one but themselves to be angry at.

This. It really blows my mind that a lot of people expect to get paid for driving from point A to point B, and get upset because, as they were merrily driving along, some mean person came and blew up their sh*t "for no reason!" It’s amazing to me, the number of people who think that praying that people will leave them alone is a sufficient defense strategy. Saying people don’t have to attack you in GTA, is like saying people don’t have to charge you rent when you land on their property while playing Monopoly. The people attacking you are playing the game correctly. Defend your cargo.

Personally, I won’t do a sale unless I have at least a half-dozen friends, (not hired randoms), in the lobby helping me. Someone has to provide air-support, and ideally you have at least one person who can hang back on the ground, keeping attackers busy as the convoy continues. If the sale requires three or four drivers or pilots, that means you need six friends. It sucks that, in CEO mode you can only have four people in an organization, (though you can do Gunrunning in Biker mode, it’s really not worth it), but really it doesn’t matter because, even though you’re not getting paid, you know your friends will help you do your sale, in turn.

Here’s another thing: Freemode is for griefing. That’s what it exists for, so you can pit your wits and skills against real human beings instead of the easily defeated game AI. If you’re not in the mood for that, you have tools at your disposal. For instance, if I just want to mod some cars, or do some shopping in peace, I go into Passive Mode. Problem solved. If you want a whole session with no one bothering you, for whatever reason, you can start a Solo, Crew, or Friends Only session. You know, with few exceptions, you have either NPCs or Players shooting at you in every activity in the game. Why would Freemode be any different? Yet some people seem to expect that, in spite of the guns, rockets, grenades, bombs, armored vehicles, fighter jets, and tanks everyone has, people are just going to wave at them when they pass on the street.

AK proving that in no manner or form is the Heavy Sniper Mk2 explosive round an overpowered element.....

1 shot to take an aircraft down is perfect balance for this game & is a rational addition to gameplay.

Really bad gun...in every way.

Should be a seperate gun with that damage...preferably single shot with 5 rounds max capacity.

Finally all research complete. Got explosive rounds for sniper rifle 4th to last item.

Love these things. Very effective, fun. Practice from Maze Bank roof lol. Believe these have good use in Piracy Prevention too. It will make them think twice. I have found in PP if kill them b4 they get2 ship they spawn on beach but if kill them on ship they spawn on ship so watch out.

If your gonna come rushing me from far off wb setup waiting for u - when u get in range - BOOM!

A much needed weapon. The heat sensor sight great with it.

I too hate griefers which mess up my sales runs -and avoid selling in less than optimal environment. All it takes is one hostile ruin it. my advice - find optimal session. This can be w friends / crew or switching sessions frequently until get what want. Research data on this.

If a griefer bothers u in an optimal session say vital for $$. - get into safe house, put bounty on him, call mercs, Lamar, vote kick. They want spawn kill u makes them mad when they can't do that. Then watch tv and take a break - he may get bored and leave. I did this he called me trash - when turned on tv noticed he gone so went to Maze Bank roof get buzzard noticed red dot of mugger excited bc CB cash - killed mugger - walla $10k and griefer had left me gift in leaving session!

It's great ammo in some situations, but not all. I wish we could carry both the normal and explosive ammo, and change between the two as needed. I don't mind needing to buy more in my MOC, but it would be nice to be able to use normal ammo when without needing to change ammo types in the MOC even if you could only start using it after running out of explosive rounds.

--snip--

It takes more then one shot to shoot down a jet. That is a bad pilot crashing, and not the explosive ammo destroying it.

A few days ago I was using the explosive ammo to keep a jet griefer on the ground, and it took three shots to destroy the hydra after as he was taking off from getting the new one from pegasus. If he ditched the hydra I didn't shoot again until he got a new one. I was just trying to help the players doing ceo/mc work keep their cargo from being destroyed, and a few players from being spawn killed.

Here’s another thing: Freemode is for griefing.

If freemode were for griefing then it wouldn't be a report option, and players wouldn't get banned for it.

Take a look on the minimap of the gif and how high the jet was flying. Then tell me in what kind of structure he crashed. Exactly, none. There is nothing but free air. It´s a bug since release of the gunrunning DLC that let´s you oneshot air vehicles with just 1 shot, regardless of the ammo type. I even oneshottet beefed up mission cargobobs with regular rounds.

Back to the explosive rounds... They are noobsh*t. Should be removed or nerfed. And im talking about a nerf as strong as the rhino got.

Ya I'm not going to try and zoom that far into an already low quality gif. You're still agreeing with the main point that it takes more than one explosive sniper round to take down a jet. Sure you can bug one down in one shot with any ammo type, but that's not exactly the same thing.

It´s the same thing. One explosive shot let´s all armed aircraft smoke, rendering them useless. I can sh*t explosive death from any rooftop with one hand while scraching my balls with the other. Even jet griefing has more skill than this pos. And don´t get me started against helicopters. The whole community of heli pilots, who trained hard to get good with helis, dodging homo-rockets, aiming with the buzzard minigun, well placed non-homing rockets and learning to fly precise swipes with the savage got all f*cked over with this noobsh*t.

And don´t come with the lame argument: "duh, but i got added as counter for jets". There where plenty of counters already. But you don´t want to use your head, instead you want a click to win button.
