Should the explosive rounds be unlocked from achieving something?

269 members have voted

  1. 1. Should the explosive rounds be unlocked after passing the tier 3 for the heavy sniper at the bunker gun range?

    • Yes, an ammo type like this should be earned and respected. This ammo type should be rare and not common on the battlefield.
      131
    • No, this ammo makes my sniper like a railgun and I like it.
      138
  2. 2. Should the explosive rounds be unlocked after getting an amount of kills with the two new scopes or attachments?

    • Yes, there should be a significant challenge that lets you earn access to theses rounds Leave this ammo to those who actually respect and care about sniping. Not just your average guy looking for cheap kills on everything and everything.
      85
    • No.

  3. 3. Are the explosive rounds Over Powered?

    • Yes, picture a Railgun with a long distance scope and a good rate of fire.

Explosive Ammo has brought back the point of the Heavy Sniper and gave it its actual firepower back. (Not in the way I'd prefer, but still...). The Heavy Sniper was OHK (and still is on Low players) like it should have been. This is an amazing portable jet defence (and kill NPCs in one hit). You only have 4 (pricey) bullets to a mag so you better make sure the shots count. I like the rarity of the ammo too, both in capacity and overall no many have it. It's hard to achieve, RNG walled and pay/timewalled so who do have it deserve it.

In all honesty, I'm surprised that more people aren't crying over the X-ray..erm.. I mean "thermal" scope. A brilliant addition too I might add.

It's perfect how it is IMO and honestly I think the OP is just salty he doesn't have the EXP. Ammo/ A jet griefer (was :p )

I use it to grief. :) You want to sell cars or special-cargo? Not in my session, pal. :D

Damn, I haven't seen a poll this bias in a long time.

Explosive Sniper is the double-edge sword of GTA:O. On one hand, if you're the one using it it's great fun as you're unstoppable but if someone is using it on you it's complete bullsh*t!

I met my first Explosive Sniper and like self-experiment it left a bad taste in my mouth. Spawned and IMMEDIATELY got locked on the second I got in my car. Quick-thinking and a split second later I was in Passive Mode as the rocket blew up through me and a flying bike whizzed by. Texted the guy, told him "nice try". I decided to get my Hydra (as I've yet to get RPG's on my own bike) and lower the jet bike a peg or two. Got in my Hydra, still passive cause I'm a c*nt, and then popping out of passive once I spot him. Out of f*cking nowhere I blow up and his buddy is covering him from a rooftop, taking any flying object out. I get a text when I respawn and it's from the jet bike guy and it says, "nice try".

*rages and breaks controller*

With the option to fast-track you're basically f*cked if you're in anything that flies that isn't the bike (cause it's a small target). Every update releases stuff that sh*ts on the previous update. We're gonna reach a point where we'll buy a scientific machine that costs 25 million and when you enter it you turn into a household fly and wielding RPG-launching uzis. I know the second I get the Explosive Sniper I'll camp a rooftop and be a prick but I know in advance I'll hate myself as I'll be just another freeroam griefer.

If R* don't nerf it I guess I'll stick to solo lobbies if I want to take to the skies. The sh*t thing is that there's tons of people tired of Rockstar's sh*t and stick to solo yet that doesn't change the amount of players in actual public sessions so it looks like there's no change in numbers. They'll just keep releasing tools to grief each other with while they do a Mr.Burns impersonation, "excellent".

Happy Hunter

Previously, the only defense against a jet was another jet.

Yes it is.

"A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and angers other players within the game, often using aspects of the game in unintended ways. A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals."

Exactly, and with every update, rockstar is making my life easier. Before gunrunning, i had to use both of my hands to fly helicopters and jets to grief noobs with they´re cargo. Now i can stand high on top of a building and sh*t death from afar on everyone with just one hand, while scraching my balls with the other. This game really wants to kill himself. :D

"Deliberately Irritates" - that could apply to anything LMAO. Because it didn't go your way = deliberate annoyance. No. In that case, I could say that the AI are griefing me, making me have to work for my cash. R* is griefing me by making me use GTA$ instead of everything free. How do I know the recipient is going to cry over a mission they choose to set up and lose at. I'm deliberately doing the task. Yes. To annoy, no. To earn easy cash. That's in my case anyways.

"often using aspects of the game in unintended ways" R* created these tasks. R* gave me the items to use in freemode. Nothing is unintended about that.

"A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users" This. I use my Exp ammo to deter the original griefers and does it well. If it is being used on an objective, there is no griefing done. If you are simply shooting a person for sh*ts and giggles, you are griefing.

I'm going to use all my tools if there is a task at hand, be it my oppressor, Exp Ammo etc. They don;t pay for themselves. It's a great way to re earn and invest your tools back too.

TL:DR If you shooting at an objective/event, you aren't griefing because there is a legitimate reason.

Now you're just trying to ridicule everything with that first paragraph. Also, I don't know a single CEO who starts a job hoping that it will fail and who's happy if it fails. CEOs do these jobs to earn (big) money. And if you wanna earn money yourself, there are other methods which earn you a lot more money than just annoying other folks.

There's a reason why the definition mentions the word "often" instead of "always". So basically you can ignore that part of the definition if you want.

TL;DR: if you're sabotaging people (e.g. CEOs) who are doing jobs and minding their own business (non-hostile), then yes you are griefing.

I'm not, I'm trying to explain that not everyone "griefs", nor who uses such items is solely a griefer and is griefing. Of course you don't want it to fail but that's the choice you made. A criminal doesn't want to be caught but they chose that life and have to suffer the possible threats/ consequences of that choice. Big money at a big cost/risk. That's the game. Expecting to not be challenged with a giant "Kill me" marker is silly to assume. A lot of people don't bother because 2K for the effort of travelling the map is not worth it but it's a doddle with the Oppressor so a quick buck is always welcomed.

I have 72.3 million (had 100 but this update is a joke in prices) so money isn't needed, but the fun off it isn't either. As far as I'm concerned, I'm down 5 million from the Oppressor, therefore I will use said item to earn my money back. I'm not going to go around mindlessly blowing people up unless they are attached to an objective or simply attacked me and I find that boring.

OT: The explosive ammo is no different, I earned it and am going to use said earned item to rake in money easier. It's easy sniping the supply boxes since there's now an explosion.

So don't try to wind me in with people who actually grief others, when I'm simply doing the task, and not trolling people. The CEOs are combatants that Agent 14 asked you to kill when their shipment's Global Signal goes live. That job they are doing is also my job too and everyone else in the lobby.

EDIT: I haven't nor gone into attacking an Objective for giggles, I've used items only in game, so how am I griefing? I can't control the feelings of the recipient, nor am I going to tip toe around people in case they may get upset on an 18+game. Once I destroy the task, I move onto next task. No personal attacks.

If the CEO gets angry because they failed to protect their shipment, they brought out in the open, knowing the risks. They have no one but them selves to be angry at.

So you're basically saying that you still have a ton of money left and you acknowledge that you earn nothing more than small change by going after CEOs on a mission (hell you'd probably even earn more money by stealing a random car on the street and selling it at LS Customs).

Going after CEOs on a mission is OPTIONAL. Agent 14 doesn't say: "Go after the CEO or you'll get kicked."

You're even worse than a normal griefer. I'd call you a griefer in denial. Oh and good luck trying to earn your 5 million back with 2K payments.

I leave CEOs on a mission alone. Why? Cause if they're willing to put all the time and effort into it (often fighting NPCs), they deserve the payout. Luckily I don't have to deal with griefers since I'm always on invite-only servers or on solo/very low populated public servers. But it's nice to know my explosive ammo + thermal sights will immediately take care of griefers if needed.

I LOVE IT.

I just unlocked it last night (don't have the thermal scope yet, just the night time vision) but the explosive rounds are AMAZING.

My only beef is that I wish I could carry more b/c I have enjoyed camping in the city so much and blowing people up that it frustrates me that I have to go back to my bunker to get more ammo for it lol

I had a guy yesterday ask me if I was a modder because he hadn't see the explosive rounds yet. Heck I MYSELF haven't seen them yet in the game until I got them.

Then today I saw a hydra in the city killing everyone in sight and I knew this was gonna be fun. He had just finished knocking a defenseless chopper out of the sky when I blew him apart with a sniper shot. Then I texted him "your jet doesn't like these explosive rounds much".....to which he activated ghost org and went and got another jet....but I knew what he was doing and found him in the scope. He was clearly coming for me when I blew him up more than 1/2 way to getting to me. That was followed with a text of "jet griefing days are over" followed by a (insert name) has left the game" lol

I love these bullets! Give me more capacity!

My amount of money is irrelevant. I am down 30 million from this update. I could have 72K or 72 million, the point is, I need to get a return of my net loss of 30 million. The sole reason I have money is from running the game like an accountant (which I dislike but have to thanks Shark Cards), estimating prices of bullets (especially the very expensive Exp. Rounds) making sure I turn a profit every time. If I can get a quick 2K, it's 2K back from a loss I may have had earlier. Literally these firing a mag or two of Exp rounds = 2K. So if I have to spend a mag defending myself from a genuine jet griefer, I'm going to get that money back without net loss. (Oppressor).

The option is there yes and I would like to partake in the event as permitted. If I got no reward, then it's not worth it. I never used a hydra for the sole point I'm getting a maximum of 1.8K now. With the oppressor, I dipped a lot and used this investment to make easier 2K runs with no loss. Same applies to Contact missions, many can be done in under 2 mins with the oppressor now, meaning the time to money has increased = earning back my oppressor and rest of DLC faster. I never use Exp Rounds on CEO events because... overall net loss.

I can't sell cars constantly either (I also actually forgot about that too, will fit it in with my free mode. Cheers)

Would you say the same about bounties or CEO missions like Party Privacy? If I attack them for the money, is that classed as griefing in your mind? I'm not doing it for the sake of it. I'm doing it because I profit from it. Once I receive the money, I go on to the next task. No personal attacks because that's just boring and mindless. You're forgetting this is when I'm in freemode, after backing out from Contact missions. It's extra quick cash. Simple as that. 2K leads to 4 to 8 to 16. From the popping in between missions, I have got at least 200K extra in general. Doesn't sound to shabby now does it. You need to think of the future, invest and save, profit and make money.

Don't try to act high and mighty and caring over others when it's GTA and the aim of the game. There's not hard feelings or personal attacks but if you have money, I'll take it if possible. I need it. So please do learn the difference between people PTFO and actual mindlessly killing.

Also Oppressor doesn't equal griefing lol. I've earned so many randoms fast cash with it, that I get so many FR and they follow any mission I pick lol :p But I guess I'm griefing the AI now right

Don't waste time and explosives on Insurgents, just shoot through the windows.

Minigun... After the passengers are removed properly, quickly blow it up with the grenade-launcher.

Just unlocked this and I have to say after using it myself it's definitely OP but at the same time I like it cause when you get random guys trying to kill you just pull out that bad boy and watch them cry

The first time I got hit with one of theese was while I was doing executive search. I was hiding in the watter, thinking to myself how no one has ever found me in this spot. As soon as I thought that I died. Thermal scope plus explosive ammo. I spawn on the shore, and start blowing up randomly. At first I thought it was a modder or something.

After 2 weeks I finaly unlocked it myself. It's so great against griefers. OP or not doesn't bother me if all people have acces to it, it's fair game.

All people DON'T have access to it. It's locked behind a giant pay wall and you need to spend either a lot of time researching or even more money to unlock it even after buying the bunker and MOC. Many people still don't have these. Some people - more than you'd think - will never have them.

I realize that, friend. I do own the game.

There is no restriction to it is what I meant. It sucks that you can't choose your own research progress, but it's still there for everyone to use. It's not a buy to win type of deal.

My only beef is that I wish I could carry more b/c I have enjoyed camping in the city so much and blowing people up that it frustrates me that I have to go back to my bunker to get more ammo for it lol

Interactive Menu > MOC > Request MOC ;)

Reason why I have decided to use explosive ammo again, is because of how disappointed I got at Armor Piercing rounds the other day.

My crew was doing stand your ground and there is couple of tryhards, preying on us. So I go on one of the rooftops nearby where I have perfect view all around. I see one of them taking cover but I have a clean shot. I fire once, right at the chest, he starts running, I fire second time, hitting him in the back. He is still alive. Car hits him, throws him away 10-15 feet. He is STILl alive. I couldn't believe it. So while he was on the ground, i shoot at his leg and finally he died. After being hit by the car and shot with 3 AP .50cal rounds. Really?

That is first issue. Ineffectiveness.

The second issue. Capacity.

I understand why we only get 40 rounds of explosive ammo. But what is an excuse for getting only 40 rounds when using other ammo type? Having 40 AP rounds doesn't cut it for me. If we were able to carry around 200, i wouldn't use explosive rounds. But as a someone who likes sniping and waiting patiently for perfect target, I have to use most effective round. That is why I switched back to explosive rounds.

I was instantly rewarded with shooting down jet griefer from so far away ( it did take me 6-8 shots), that he didn't believe it was all according to rules from my end.

You carry 240 rounds of all ammo except explosive.

Sorry, but that is not correct.

I just switched back to Armor piercing rounds and bought maximum number of rounds I am allowed to, and total is 36 plus 4 in magazine.

That is the main reason i was complaining because it really doesn't make any sense. AR rounds or the BP rounds are not even close to same level of effectiveness as explosive rounds are, and yet we are allowed only to carry 40 rounds total.

Well I have 240 of all except explosive.

Not sure what is wrong with your game.

The Combat MG carries 400 iirc.

Not sure on that one. I carry regular ammo in my MG.

Do you also carry Armor piercing rounds?

Because I don't have bulletproof rounds, don't need them. But I switched back and forth between Armor piercing and explosive rounds, and every time I am allowed to get 36 plus 4, not more than that.

I am confused.

Is there anyone else using custom rounds to comment on this?

Ok, I get 220 or more of those while using rifles.

But do you use one of them with .50cal?
