With the return of mods, does the steam review will become mostly positive again like the old day?

RDRV I can understand...but LibV was not to be a converted map, it was to be a tool that allowed users to convert the map from a copy of GTA4 they owned. Something someone could do off their own back with OpenIV, modelling tools and a little knowledge about the formats. As far as I am concerned if that is not allowed then this protest is not over.

Problem is while the tool requires IV's source files to work, it can't possibly check whether the files is pirated/shared or not. People can easily share the source / converted files, giving other people who don't own IV access to LC in GTA 5 and R* won't get any money in this.

Exactly. LibV, while sounding good in theory, was a major instigator in this whole CF. Hopefully now that things have calmed down, people will be a little more careful here.

If IV is pirated, the damage is done before the tool could convert the game over. If they find out how to check for Games For Windows Live licences, and Steam licences, they are in business. For extra protection, they can make it so the game has to be on the latest patch.

I wish people would actually wait for GooD-NTS's statement before declaring OpenIV dead, quit jumping the gun on this.

It's good they probably work on a solution in this case.

Nevertheless I totally understand Rockstar and Take Two not doing so many PC ports because they have so much work to do to keep things running for just 15% of their revenue stream.

+ all those people complaining without knowing anything what happened in the background at Take Two.

The only thing we know is that in the name of Take Two they were letters sent out to different mod development teams and that Rockstar tries to work on a solution with OpenIV

Hate it or not. Still supporting them 100% if they want to protect their IP

I don't mean to be pushy, but you look like someone who is in the know. Had he given any indication when this might be happening?

There are still no news on the site http://openiv.com/.

And no comments from Good-NDS,

our Father of Homeland of Modding Independence! :D

if no new from openiv. i think it done. be cause take 2 damage openiv. no going back

First of all it's the weekend, and Good-NTS has had a very hectic week to say the least, so you know, let him enjoy his weekend in peace.

Second, the updates are re-enabled and the Take-Two shutdown removed from OpenIV in the most recent update, tho it hasn't changed that much apparently beyond that, combining that with the fact that the actual download of OpenIV hasn't been reinstated, it leads me to believe that update was for users who already have OpenIV and were going to keep using it one way or the other, either by downgrading GTAV or some other means.

As for the download itself, that will probably have to wait till the OpenIV team has a new build ready that conforms to the demands of Rockstar and Take-Two, which means access to certain files might be restricted where people previously did have access, and features of OpenIV might have to be reworked or removed, on the other hand the OpenIV team might request access to certain files that they still haven't cracked yet, files that might no impact Online in anyway and Rockstar and Take-Two would have little problems with, not saying that that is happening, I'm not in insider, but I could see it happen.

Either way, a new build will take some time, they have to talk to Rockstar and Take-Two what files they can touch and what files they can't, and what features would be allowed by them and which wouldn't, and then re-program OpenIV accordingly, and programming takes time, it's not something you can do in an hour and bring out a new build, unless it's a very minor edit.

I share everything, but if they are agreeing something they might say they are doing it...

Of this kind of news I was talking. :)

This is a positive step forward. Well done Rockstar.

Take your time and there is no rush on the next version. I'm happy things are almost back to normal..

People are spreading the world that OpenIV is allowed again but where is the proof? I can't find any single piece of evidence about this. I can only see that there are some negotiations but that doesn't prove anything.

I have to give some respect to R* for stepping up against Take 2.

For me personally the evidence is this:

1. Script Hook V has been updated to the latest patch.

2. After OpenIV got an update with the message "uninstall" the future update removes the uninstall message.

3. In my opinion, if the negotiations were to end OpenIV, then the new update would spoil the compulsion to use OpenIV, suspend immediately or shut down the application instead of removing something "cumbersome".

4. If the matter was to be even though sad / merry half / 50% / 50% we would get the update itself, thanks to which the "uninstall" message would disappear, which would mean the last update with us with rockstar consent .. we would not mix With files themselves bypassing the message etc ... but .... we would not get the new Hook V Script because this tool does not allow you to edit only game files but lets play with scripts on single player ... and in my opinion it is more advanced when it comes to modding.

Regarding negative reviews we should wait for openiv team's statment. If they say all us good and openiv will keep on functioning like it does now, we shall change our reviews to postive ones.

GooD-NTS, may I ask a question?

Why did you originally state that there is no way OpenIV could be used to facilitate online hacking, but then in your interview with Motherboard Vice, you not only stated that it IS possible, but also told them how?

It's possible with modded one, but that's not made by .black team.

Does that really make a difference? If OpenIV can be used, even just as a means to an end, to affect GTA Online... then what Rockstar said is true, and what GooDNTS said is false.

'Member the great modding assault of '17? 'Member all the OpenIV troops storming the beaches of Steam? Oooh, I 'Member!
