I think this is the beginning of Rockstar splitting up with Take-2.

I wish it was possble but its not. Rockstar is a huge cash cow t2 wont give it up.

 

Well, I am now since a few months in the stock market and about that. This is the first crisis between Rockstar North/Games and its parent company Take Two, this is just like a marriage. You have some little fight but when the man doesnt give a toss about your problems and still does his own things. She files the divorce.

 

And actually, this is the first little fight between the Houser Brothers and Zelnick.

 

In other words, T2 has been given a yellow card for their tackle. The decision was, to say the least, unhealthy for all parties. Who would want a partner that's trying to look tough with no thought process about consequences of their actions? I can imagine Rockstar facepalming themselves after they've heared OpenIV got banned at first. Rockstar was the middle man between OpenIV's team and T2's legal department. They know they have a huge customer and fan base with us. People've shown their numbers.

 

Rockstar might consider of going different ways at this moment, I believe they have enough money to be the publishers themselves and execute better deals for all of us involved. T2 is just acting too immature and trying to show off, and that brings trouble for the stake holders in both companies.

 

It will be interesting how things unfold with RDR2's release.

Give it at-least a few days, we'll know the decision and what was discussed.

Until OpenIV downloads come back, people will still believe OpenIV is dead and the reviews will continue to drastically destroy the game. So, Until then let the petitions continue at the time of this writing 77,020 have signed.

Most likely, yes. We still need to wait for GooD-NTS' statement, but an update was already released, and it didn't have the goodbye text nor the 'Uninstall now' popup. So it is most likely here to stay. Rockstar is probably trying to get some sort of agreement with him.

He may have to 'remove' a few features and show proof that these features are not to be enabled. What doesn't make sense is How can OpenIV be used online? they have script checks? So, AsiLoading is the only thing I can see but it has Online protections in place.

 

Edit: the comments about OpenIV are amusing to read, let alone sad at the same time. It's about time R* put their foot down and realized what the hell was going on in the first place. R*'s decision was a slap in the face to all of us. That actually made GTA games what they're today, and that right there was a let down. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

I understand the hype of OpenIV possibly making a return, but we should wajt for an official statement before celebrating. There could be some changes that the OpenIV team agreed to that is allowing OpenIV to return, and these changes could still impact modding. Wait and see.

If you're on 206 7/5/17 I'd hold off until we have an actual statement. While the outlook is good...until we have a statement we cannot be sure. You won't be missing out on anything yet. 207 doesn't add anything as far as we can see.

Wow, we won. Or at least got back the status quo with OpenIV as it is now plus scripthook. I hope opening up dialogue with Rockstar themselves allows Good-NTS to reach some sort of deal; perhaps shutting the LC map project in return for continued development and distribution. I hope Zellnick gets a talking to by the board for this whole issue; tons of negative press and a dip in their stock value should set him for a good old tongue lashing.
