Good news. I'm not into modding, but it's good that Rockstar connects with the fans rather than being another faceless corporation. That will earn them more respect and appreciation.

Im sorry did anyone here even read their statement? They're basically doubling down and they're saying that they can can take down any mod at any time because its within their right... OpenIV is still banned soooo.... f*ck Rockstar and Take2

That was the most soulless PR "explanation" ive heard in a while. dont know why R* are getting praise

This is just a formal declaration of their new policies

While I do definitely agree we should wait until GooD makes a statement...if the outcome is good...we really do need to change our reviews.

Nah I'm good, I still think GTAO is awful despite how good the single player is, and GTAO seems to be forming the majority of GTA V, so...

Back to flying the Millennium Falcon and taking GTA V to a galaxy far far away. May the force be with you.

The fight has not ended yet, we are not sure but Alternative Multiplayers that uses SP as base and everything is controlled by a selfmade networking should be allowed too, since it doesn't mess with GTA:Online (hacking/modding). Remember that GTA-MP was also shutdown by T2 almost 2 years ago.

The Alternative Multiplayers encorage the players to purchase the game for play on it, otherwise you can't play with a pirated copy.

For people that doesn't remember GTA-MP.

Note: The popular FiveM (a lot of streamers play on it), uses stolen code from GTA:O...

That's fair enough. Certainly, my review isn't going to be a 5* glowing one...but they should atleast be updated to reflect the fact that OpenIV has returned (if indeed it has...we need to see a statement from GooD...but the removal of the CnD message is a good sign).

LMAO

If I were to shake my head anymore, it would f*cking fall off. Change our reviews for f*cking what? If the outcome is "good" it still means that openIV will be gone forever since they basically force shut it down. The best outcome of all of this is some corporate dumbed downed and restrictive half ass mod tool to be created by R*. My review is still staying how it is along with many others

We should be amazed of how much power we contributed to bring this well-thought project back onto the rails.

We should be proud, as a big community, as one.

The best thing to do right now is to make OpenIV open source. Make it available to each and everyone of us so that we can bypass this corporate f*ckery

Are you...completely out of the loop? Here's an update (and an explanation for the sudden surge of traffic to this thread)...there's a very real chance we succeeded and that OpenIV is back. Rockstar are in communication with the OpenIV team, it's received an update to remove the CnD message and GooD is due to make a statement soonish.

Let us all hope and pray that Liberty City will also remain ... ;)

it won't, map mods are strictly off-limits according to Rockstar.

I doubt it though. I would be glad with just OpenIV working again.

No I may be the only one that read their statement. IF (And thats a big if) IF OpenIV comes back it would be like going from android to an iphone. It would be restrictive as hell. It would basically be unrecognizable to what it was before.

Final thoughts

What's our next move? I believe things will iron out themselves if people keep showing Take Two the finger with negative reviews, boycotting their releases and Online components and making as much noise as possible. IT AIN'T FAIR. We've all said it. Modding singleplayer has nothing to do with hacking memory for online if that was the reason behind the S&D. On that topic, they've taken down one of the major hacking tool recently, and they are still keeping quiet about announcing that. Why? Because they are aware that they f*cked up. But they are too big of a player to write an apology to the community and revise their decision, thinking they will look weak. So, they continue their bulldozer approach hoping people will calm down. For the future sake of modding and enjoying games, be it Grand Theft Auto or any other, we cannot let them get away with this bad decission.

Keep pressing them where it hurts. They need to learn that at the end of the day, we are the ones who are paying for their meals and bills. Don't go for low punches. Keep it civil. Show your unrest and demands in a meaningful and unharmful way. We can do it together. And once we show our potential and power in numbers, things will change for better.

Thank you for reading.

I need to quote myself on this one. Everything played out well with us showing the power, determination and execution of a common goal.

This is how great things are being done guys.

It great news for our community! We help to save our favorite OpenIV!

Thank you very much for all people who support our legal protest against Take-Two Interactive. But don't relax - their statement very ambiguous! Be ready for fight later!

I very happy for OpenIV and all GTA community!

Create and install mods in Single GTA 5!

Wooohooo!

Really now? Then why is there an update that just came out that does nothing but remove the uninstall message? Seems pretty un-restricted if you ask me.

Wisen up. It was obvious from (almost) the beginning that their main concerns were protecting the online experience from hackers and preventing full-map conversions. OpenIV was mistakenly targeted by their witch hunt, probably due to the hacked OpenIV.asi files used by online cheaters. They won't go after anyone else nor try to take anything down that doesn't violate one of those two concerns. Especially not after the sh*tstorm that just took place.

I don't know why you call this a "new" policy, because there used to be no policy at all, aside from the EULA that says you can't mod, period.

Despite the EULA, modding still thrived. And despite this official policy, they won't start sending cease-and-desists to everyone who converts a Skyline from Forza or a Merit from GTA IV.

The way I see it, everything's back to normal. The C&D to OpenIV was a mistake, this is their way of acknowledging it. Everyone can now move on and learn from their experience.

I felt like sh*t for the past few days because of all the fiasco. I need to start a new job in the bank next week, and this C&D totally f*cked up my mood once I've heared OpenIV went down. I feel so much more relieved now. Fate in humanity restored, lol.
