Yeah, I think it's always said that. I think the only difference is that they removed the uninstall message.

Didn't it say that before?

I've never looked at it tbh. I went through to see if any of the dispute was in the about, but they've left a good ol' thanks. Seems like R* does like its fans. T2 was trying to play big mean daddy.

I suppose they've redeemed themselves somewhat. Though some of their policies are still to be questioned (No porting stuff between R* titles, Really?

Oh crap I modded the VC Faggio into V, the Vice City sales will plummet!

Oh sh*t I brought CJ over to V, the sales of SA is dropping by 90%!

Step in the right direction, and no doubt it's been a bit of a humbling moment for Rockstar and in particular Take-Two. Hopefully they learn a few things from this, mainly that working with the community on things of this sort are the best way to handle it rather than threatening to kick them in the teeth if they don't pack up shop.

That idiot should really stop updating this mod, if he knows whats good for him. No stupid mod is worth the lawsuit that can destroy his life.

good rant

Third on the list of global top sellers.

Rest in peace GTA modding.

It's 50% off, no wonder it's selling like hotcakes, heck all the fuss we kicked up only is gonna add to the sales, people wanna try modding now, and lets not forget the huge popularity of the GTAV RP streams on Twitch, people want to try that too, and you need a legal copy, and a Social Club account for FiveM to even work, so ya...it was going to sell good no matter what.

It was always going to be a statistic that Take-Two was going to abuse ("Look at how many copies of GTAV we sold during the summer sale") but don't care about, remember, if you're not buying Shark Cards you're filthy freeloader.

Spare me with all the twist reasoning bullsh*t.

Nobody is buying a game that banned modding for modding and $30 is still a lot for a 5 year old game.

The fact the game is still selling strong despite all the negative press proves Take-Two was right in thinking the modding community is an insignificant loud minority.

GTA modding is officially dead.

Once RDR2 or whatever it is comes out and gains traction - it's only a matter of time before GTA itself is dead (not just modding)

Yes, it would be wise to contain our excitement until GooD-NTS and the OpenIV team makes an official statement.

Turns out this is a joint prank by GooD and R* and the next OpenIV update will have a popup message saying "IT'S JUST A PRANK, MOTHERf*ckER" before deleting itself.

Such as the OpenIV update that just happened that removed the whole Uninstall and C&D thing?

While I do definitely agree we should wait until GooD makes a statement...if the outcome is good...we really do need to change our reviews. Otherwise we will continue to affect T2 and R*'s business...and next time they won't listen to us as there will be nothing in it for them. The news articles will stand as a humbling monument...reminding them why it is a bad idea to screw over an entire community. No need for our protest reviews to remain.

Good news. I'm not into modding, but it's good that Rockstar connects with the fans rather than being another faceless corporation. That will earn them more respect and appreciation.

The numbers have spoken. Steam reviews, negative press and all the noise have gotten them thinking. Glad they've chosen to find a solution that benefits all of us.

I need to say few things to all of you here. You did a terrific good job. All of us. We have shown what standing united means and how powerful our synergy was. This obstacle has shown that our community is one of the most mature, most passionate and most organized group of lads out there. We got hit hard. But, never forget that we're all a family here. When we're hit, we pick ourselves up. We support each other, we show the way to one another. And we triumph. Dozens of thousands of people have heared our voices and helped us in our battle for the things we love. Modding is alive because ALL OF YOU. You should know that. And you should be proud of yourselves.

Great thanks to moderators. I cannot stress how much it was important to keep everything civil, well focused and effective on the pages. You're also human and you managed to keep your cool and play your cards right. Keep it sharp, boys. You're the best and I am happy to have you as guardians watching over us all the time.

To OpenIV team. Now, I don't know much about the background story in past few days and what happened behind the doors, but what I do know is that it was not easy to be in your shoes. You kept your head down when you should. And I respect that. People here have recognized your situation. You never played dirty and you never demanded money, donations or other compensation for your work. You did everything for the fun of it. For the passion. For all of us. Thank you for holding your ground and keeping communication with Rockstar in civil way. I expect more of a story, like all of us, about what made them change their decision. Thank you from all my heart.

But we still can't download the installer from their site. And who can say for sure that GooD still want to continue working on OpenIV after all this?

A good lesson to be learned for publishers and developers in the future: never underestimate the consequences of pulling a dick move on a dedicated and long-standing fanbase, no matter how small, insignificant or unprofitable it may seem.

Don't celebrate yet. Until the download buttons come back and GooD makes a statement saying "OpenIV development will continue" you haven't won.
