Yeah i tried to block it in Windows-Firewall, but it still demands to install the newest update..

Question: Does anyone have a mirror for OpenIV 2.9.x for backup purposes? I can't find one via Google (all sites redirect or are fake) and trying to get the installer to work fails (it needs an offline installer as the server is down).

it's probably becuase you launched it before and it already knows theres a new update, just update it for now, it will still let you use it. When and if a new update comes around that completely blocks access from it, the firewall will be there to protect that hopefully.

Wow, this f*cking sucks, been out of the modding scene for a while but I have used these tools for so much modding over the years and I am sad to see this happening,


what the f*ck is R* doing ? have they got any idea how many games they sell on PC purely for modding ? maybe if they took their f*cking heads out of their arses and made the game with separate exe files for online and offline the whole problem of GTAO modding/haxxing would have been much less of a problem, let alone RGSC being a real f*cking BanWhore, but they got f*cking lazy and greedy which painted a target on the game from the start ......... "Pay Real money for Ingame Money" ......... or grind your bollocks off .......... to buy cars in a game called "Grand Theft Auto" a game about 'stealing' cars, are you f*cking kidding me ? !!!


this really is the end of an era, want to say thanks to the whole Open IV/formats team for all their hard work over the years, so much research and learning potentially going to waste ....................... f*cking sad day for so many reasons today.

@R* (if they're even reading this thread) you guys forgot the roots of what eventually made your good games into great games, you forgot where most of your ideas came from when you made your next games, you lost your way when you started locking us out, and GTAO turned you into Greed Theft Auto ....................... best not mention the promised SP dlc that never happened.

All the best for the future to GoodNTS and all the Open Formats team, you guys have given us some great modding tools over the years, Thank you :^:

Sure...though OpenIV will still be available. What goes on the internet stays on the internet. All this has achieved is pissing off a lot of people.

Of course we modders can vote with our feet and stop purchasing games from this company.

 

I am guessing they have assessed that we as modders represent a insignificant portion of the target customer base, so they decided to just go ahead and do it. So be it.

 

I will vote with my feet, if I cannot mod their games, I won't buy.

I would also make a backup of the openiv installation folder just in case...

Just a FYI that link in your signature contains the internet installer of open iv, not the offline installer.

Ah. That could be an issue. Hold on, I'll see what I can do. I'm pretty sure the one in my link will DL that very same installer.

If that is a legit letter, then I think T2 is using OpenIV as more of a scapegoat since they know that they dropped the ball with protecting GTAO. So they put the blame on a Modding Tool that is used for single player, as a way to compensate for their incompetence with GTAO. This is what happens when you (Rockstar Games) chooses to be cheap by using the Peer To Peer bs for GTAO. People will basically destroy the game because you failed to take the appropriate measures to prevent the game from being what it quickly became shortly after launch. Had you chosen to use Dedicated Servers, then GTAO wouldn't have become the sh*thole that it is today. So instead of admitting y'alls failure, you place the blame on a harmless modding tool and have your "big" and "bad" publisher do whatever they can to stop the use of this tool. GG Rockstar and f*ck you Take-Two.
