Heavy Sniper MKII yacht aiming issue

I decided to play Piracy Prevention and it was impossible for me to aim with the Heavy Sniper MKII on the yacht. The strange thing is that with the Sniper Rifle there was no problem, so I had to do Piracy Prevention with that weapon with TBS to kill the players.

Here you have a video of the issue. With the Sniper Rifle, the target is static. When I change to Heavy Sniper MKII the sight it goes crazy. But if I get into a boat, the sight is static.

What is the point to play Piracy Prevention? It's a issue or an absurd feature?

PD: The Heavy Sniper works fine, it's just the upgraded version.

Just Piracy Prevention or just console things?
Srsly, did you encounter the same issue other than with Piracy Prevention? Is the MKII sight also going crazy when not doing Piracy Prevention?

EDIT: Oh, I'm sorry:

But if I get into a boat, the sight is static.

Yeah, like you and the one below me said; might be a balance thing.

Perhaps due to "balance" or like you said, absurd feature.

Not just during Piracy Prevention (the video isn't during Piracy Prevention). Anytime on the yacht you can't control the aim of the Heavy Sniper MKII.

Hm, ok. I would love to test this on PC as well then. I'm curious if I'm having the same issue when doing PP. (:

To me. It looks like an intended feature. Knowing that the heavy sniper MK II can have explosive rounds they probably did that to make it harder to hit people during piracy prevention.

Happy Hunter

So they can be bothered to do that for balance, but can't be bothered to do a simple armour buff to all the poor, vulnerable non-jet aircraft?

I've just tried it (and recorded). Yeah, I have exactly the same issue when I'm on the yacht. Didn't even bother to start PP... just being on the yacht makes your Heavy/MKII Sniper going crazy... the Sniper Rifle is doing fine though, as you said.
E: As soon as I was on my Dinghy, the Heavy Sniper was fine - again, as you said.

Interesting, I've no idea, lol :D

The only way I could see it as a bug is because of all of the attachments that change the way the weapon handles mixed with the yacht natural scope sway makes it much worse on the MK II than the other snipers.

Remember the Heavy Sniper damage bug that didn't register damage on hit even though Scope would change to red on hit? Later was fixed after 4-5 months.

I guess it's one of these "new" features.

Basic bug test was skipped again, GJ.

Let the game begin:

Hello joel15cat,

We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your Heavy Sniper MKII on the yacht. In an attempt to resolve these issues, we would like to try resetting the local user profile settings for the game. You do not have to worry about losing any progress, as this simply clears some temporary files associated with the game.

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps:

1) Fully shut down your console.

2) After 30 seconds of the console being shut down, restart the console.

3) Launch GTAV.

4) When launching GTAV, wait until a black screen appears after the initial splash art has disappeared, and hold down L1+R1 throughout the opening scenes.

5) If successful, you will be prompted to re-calibrate your language and brightness options.

If this does not resolve the issue, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again.

Best regards,

Gracie G.

Have the same problem and I think this is pure intention and RS is trolling us all!

To get a fully upgradet Sniper MKII you must spend a lot of money and than you can't aim a Jet from the Yacht - what a gorgeous Joke!

Same with the new vehicles, with limited Armor capabilities, they cost even more than a Jet or Buzzard which has unlimited shooting power. No, this is all ridiculous and a waste of time.

But the Bike is really fun! :D

You know, the only time i ever had to use EA support... it was ages ago, and i couldn't register my old BF's to get the special weapon on Bad Company. And they helped, everything worked, and it happened in a rush. I can't complain. At all. Its been just like the support should be.

I'm not entirely certain that's a feature. It looks like the slight bobbing that comes with being on a yacht is somehow translating into positioning of the scope.

Call me a Debbie Downer, but I don't expect Rockstar to ever intentionally balance anything, let alone something as small as a gun, locked behind an upgrade fee, locked behind an MOC purchase, itself locked behind a bunker.

Hello Joel,

Thank you for getting back to us with the video.

We have reviewed the video provided by you and we were able to understand the issue you are experiencing.

As a measure to troubleshoot the issue, we request you to try the following troubleshooting on your Console and provide us a confirmation whether you are still experiencing the issue or not?

These troubleshooting steps come directly from Sony's website.

Step 1: Booting Up in Safe Mode:

The PS4 system has the ability to start up in Safe Mode. This allows access to several functions that can provide you with a way to clean up and potentially fix many issues you may be experiencing.

Turn off the PlayStation 4 by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.

Once the PlayStation 4 is off, press and hold the power button. Release it after you've heard two beeps: one when you initially press, and another 7 seconds later.

Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the provided USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.

When you have successfully booted the console in safe mode several options will be made available to you.

Step 2: Update System Software:

We recommend that you perform this process before running through any troubleshooting as it is possible that your console's software is not the most recent version and this can create issues running the game.

If issues persist, please get back to us so that we can further investigate in this regard and get back to you with the best help?

Also, if you have any other concerns, please feel free to get back in contact with us.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Gary C.

Yeah, I noticed this when a jet pussy attacked my yacht during Piracy Prevention. I could NOT get a lock on him, the regular and Marksman work just fine.... but MK 2? NOPE!

It's BS, no other way of explaining it.

I've noticed that, too. And frankly that is terribly concerning. Although I do understand that some people cowardly hide in their yacht to pick off targets on land at a safe distance with plenty of cover, this is beyond broken. Scope sway is understandable, but it makes it seem like we have not leveled up the "shooting" skill. Can't really have a steady picture on attackers.

I don't know. Honestly, this shouldn't have to be an issue in the first place. Some bug testing was indeed skipped.
Or maybe it IS some sort of "balance". Who knows?
I'll be running some tests with other few things later on when I get my group online.

That about the yacht moving slightly seems to be correct. It appears that wherever you're looking in the distance with or without the Mk II is the same. Again, as if you've never leveled up your shooting skill.

Ding ding ding! This is exactly what it's doing.

To the guy writing to R* and showing them videos, explain that to them in your next message.

Hello Joel,

We apologies for the delay in our response.

We understand that you have been experiencing an issue where your Aim Settings in GTA Online have been changing. We have examined the given video and we do not see any issues with the aim. However. if you face any issues with the aim: while this is not a bug, but in fact an intended setting in game, we do have some information that should help clarify the situation.

Aim settings are determined by what they were set to in your Story Mode. The Aim Setting you choose will be your default setting in GTA Online. When you create any multiplayer lobby the Aim Setting you selected will be the default setting for the lobby, meaning that every other player that joins your lobby will have their Aim Settings changed to the settings you have selected.

Example: If your settings are Auto-Aim and you create an open lobby, all people that join will have their settings changed to Auto-Aim.

This rule applies to you as well. So if you were to join a lobby using settings different than what you currently have, you will see that your Aim Settings have changed to match the lobby creator's settings.

In order to change your settings back you will need to go offline and change your settings manually. To prevent your settings from changing again we suggest creating lobbies when playing online.

Best regards,

Kristina S.
