ABOUT DAMN TIME! FINALLY ROCKSTAR HAS CONFIRMED GTA ONLINE NOW TAKES PLACE AFTER THE INTIAL STORYLINE!

 

For those who dont know, Agent 14, during the beginning of the Weaponised Tampa mission, will say that a Agent went rogue and did something. And then says the Thread Title. So this means that its now canon that Online takes place after Story Mode.

Isn't your character mentioned a few times in story mode? I know Franklin mentions a job you (likely) did, I think Lester dropped a hint about your existence too.

But at this point, I don't think Online is even set in the same Universe as the Story, just shares a few of the characters.

Grand Theft Auto Online serves as a prequel to Grand Theft Auto V due to the fact the game came out after the story mode and takes place before it as well. Prominent examples showing Online is a prequel mainly occur in the Heists Update, as Trevor doesn't seem to know who the O'Neil Brothers are, the Protagonist has to help Chef set up his meth lab in the shop, Trevor starts his rivalry with the Lost MC by having the Protagonist steal their supply, the Vagos are still situated in Sandy Shores and Simeon is still running his business in Los Santos.

This is just me but I can stay that it clearly started as a prequel but has now progressed into present day Los Santos 2017 (events happening AFTER story mode). Who knows, maybe one day that office building in the city will get completed after all.

To be honest I don't blame them for being angry about a character they liked and played as in GTA4 getting immediately killed off by "le wacky meme man XD" for nothing more than a cheap shock.

Let's say you are right. Then why are we missing all the content in the updates in the single player story mode? I mean I could see lester having us used armored car or armored heicopter (which one job was getting a car to strip the steal down to armor one of the helicopter).

 

So basically I am saying that Rockstar is trying to have their cake and eat it too by making them connect at this point because there would be "plot holes" like that one I mentioned above or literally missing physical locations (like why is Benny not in Single player? in a few months they opened up and shut down?) or the airbases or why our online protagonist is apperently slient if we are still treating up Los Santos from doing CEO, running a MC and now gun runnining. The GTA protagonist at this point would be a "successful" Michael, we would be the talk of the criminal underworld! We would not only be on the rader we would own it!

 

Basically just treat online like groundhog day, we are living the same day in perpetuity, nothing changes.

I actually hate Trevor because of the f*cked up sh*t he did to Floyd and walked away with it unpunished.

I've gotten to this point where anything Rockstar says regarding storyline and universes is all but a lie. And I've been slowly constructed my own opinion that GTAV takes place in an parallel universe from GTA4 and games prior, meaning this game (both Storymode and Online) is a giant parody of the multiverse theory, which is why nothing makes sense and there is no consistency.

You shouldn't be surprised about construction buildings. The labour unions in the U.S. will take 20 years to build one road, let alone a tall office building. It's not uncommon for a project to sit at a stagnant phase for 5 years.

Online doesn't entirely take place after story, though, I guess story happened at some point DURING online. It at least started before story.

Not sure why those NPCs tried to take the Union Depository in the Ramp Buggy mission then. Maybe they were coaxed on by the trio's success, since Lester mentioned in the story that no-one had raided the UD before. Timeline must've shifted quite a while before Gunrunning.
