Future Splinter Cell teased?

Figured I'd make a new topic. I haven't seen one around regarding the future of the franchise and this is the first comment we've seen in a while:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/06/12/ubisoft-ceo-we-are-not-forgetting-splinter-cell.aspx

I know one guy from the E3 thread was dying for an announcement. The franchise's not forgotten according to that guy but it sounds like it isn't coming anytime soon..

Mister Pink

Well, it's great to hear official news on this.

Leftist Bastard

I know one guy from the E3 thread was dying for an announcement.

Hah, that'd probably be me.

I don't know. I'm glad it's not dead, that's something and some of the guys behind Blacklist made mention of the new line of consoles getting some more Splinter Cell one way or another a few years back, but I was expecting something more. More commitment, on some level.

Hoping for something next year.

I'd rather they make Briggs the protagonist this time, Eric Johnson's Sam was dull as f*ck. I think that's one of the reasons why Ironside doesn't want the part anymore, if you compare Sam's humour and personality with Blacklist you'll definitely notice he's not as interesting as he used to be.

Even in Conviction he'd throw around some pretty dark cracks after killing an enemy.

I've never played Blacklist. Am I the only person in the world that thinks Conviction was the best game in the series? Double agent was good too.

I remember playing the second game, was it Chaos Theory? Never played it through, was too dumb back then.

@Verodor: It's more like a metaphor. With "not forgetting" he means they're not done with the series.

The series went completely silent after the last release so it's a spark of hope for some people. Neither have I seen a splinter cell topic around here so..

Most people hated Conviction, I for one kind of liked the style it was going for. Double Agent though is something else, there were 2 versions, one for the PS2 and original Xbox and the one most people know that came out on X360 and PS3. But the one on the older consoles was the superior version.

All I want is a Chaos Theory remaster.

It's probably the best one in the series. But first four games all deserve a remaster.

The fourth one being the PS2/Xbox version of Double Agent, not the PC/Xbox 360 version. PS2/Xbox version didn't just have better gameplay, it had a better story too.

Double Agent also had the best soundtrack. Michael McCann is a freakin' genius.

I know, but the real question isn't if it'll return, it's when. Yves is just stating the obvious.
