Well i finally got my game working again so i tested out the heavy sniper mk 2.

I love this thing! I can finally put a silencer on it and i cant wait to get the thermal scope.

Rockstar did a really good job with this gun.

If I upgrade a weapon to MkII configuration, but kept the traditional ammo, will I still be able to pick up ammo for it from GTA Races & Survivals?

Yes as long as you don't change the ammo type to any of the new ones

I haven't actually played around with the tracer rounds yet. Is there any tactical advantage to them at all or are they just there for show?

They are absolute garbage and don't do anything that is spectacular. Waste of money. Don't buy.

I wonder if a headshot would be a one-hit kill with the Heavy Sniper... o.O

A heavy sniper with AP ammo vs. A BP helmet is most definitely a one shot kill if that's what you're wondering. GTAmen tested it out in one of his videos.

But how in the hell could you pass up the explosive ammo lol.

That's exactly what I was wondering. Thank you.

Sniper rifle with explosive ammo is silly. It's almost an oxymoron. Camping silently in your perch for hours on end, stealthily waiting for that perfect shot... Only to fire a tiny warhead at your victim. LOL.

They should have just added the Railgun instead.

PSA: Be aware that while most specialty ammo upgrades increase the damage you deal they severely limit your ammo capacity and are unable to be restocked normally.

I haven't had a chance to research any additional ammo types but tracers were unlocked from the start.

When you switch ammo types, the gun draws from a separate pool than the rest of the weapons in the same class.

Ex. The Combat MG with tracers no longer shares ammo with the regular MG or the Gusenburg.

This separate ammo pool has a lower cap than regular ammo; the tracers had a cap of 500 rounds. I'm a pretty sure the other specialty rounds will work the same way.

You also can't restock special ammo from the interaction menu or ammunation stores either. You have to restock from the MOC. I'm assuming they did this for balancing purposes since in the stats screen it shows that specialty ammo increases gun damage.

Side note: Tracers are pretty disappointing to be honest. The visual effect is underwhelming, even at night. Since it doesn't even increase your gun's damage it's essentially just a nerf to your ammo capacity lol.

So if you take off tracers, does your ammo capacity go back to normal and are you able to buy from ammunation?

Your ammo is all stored. You don't have to spend out the ass when you change ammo types..unless they're empty and tracers do nothing special other than give your position away easier..least what I've tried.

Not sure if pointed out already, but MKII Pistol isn't used for the EWO animation. The cyanide pill is used. I reverted because pistol is quicker.

I love how whatever weapon your NPC target is holding flys out of their grasp when hit with explosive sniper rounds lol. Really laughed when i saw it the first time.

Can you buy just the Moc to upgrade weapons? Or do you need the bunker and moc for the r&d to get new upgrades?

bunker need moc is the first thing I tried to buy

What's the difference between the muzzles and other barrel caps aim wise they all have the same accurate statement but have different names which one is best for fast fire accuracy

I don't mind the less ammo capacity when it comes to the MKII varients. If you have max ammo on all the guns with the new magazines then you'll find that just using those guns and having the new upgrades (I have explosive ammo on Sniper and incendiary on every other gun) is good enough for a firefight. I like mixing it up. Use the pistol, then SMG, then assault, then carbine, them combat mg, then finish with sniper. Or do it your own way. Mix it up and have fun

Im a little dissapointed with the customization I thought it was going to be much more freedom. Dont get me wrong its good. But I had some hoped for the AK-47 that didnt come true. In any case.

Does anyone know if reverting your weapon back to normal mode and back again...does it save your purchases?

Anyone else notice the M203 grenade launcher on the schematic of the Assault Rifle MKII?

Crewmate pointed this out, I wonder if it's legit coming to the game at some point. I'd assume it would replace the grip..and would be good on the Carbine too.

FMJ ammo goes through the MOC windshield like a knife through warm butter. You can't destroy the damned things, but you can stop them by taking out the driver...

Some several questions:

1.) is the MK2 pistol worth it? I mean, in which situation could we use it, where other weapons are still better?

2.) same thing with the AK, carbine is still much better right?

3.) can you zoom in the scope the IR scope like the biggest "old" scope?

thanks for helping.

so if you buy the IR scope, you can switch from IR scope to "standard/olD" anytime ?

if you do so, which is the "old" scope you switch to? the big one or the small one?

Well you just switch to the thermal scope with thermal turned off, but as far as I can tell it's the same zoom range as the old big one.

Here's a quick vid I made launch day;

Sorry guys, but the game leaves me often with some quesions...

I unlocked the holo scope for the m4 carbine, but it shows a worse range than the old "big scope" ?

So were are the pros of the new holo scope?

It's wierd how those stat bars work... what it is i think, is that thhe red bar indicates what the stat would be if you remove the holo sight from your gun. That's assuming you already purchased it and have it equipped.

I personally notice a difference in the range of my Mk2 guns with holo sights. Between that and the heavy barrels, these new Mk2 versions are absolute BEASTS. I assume anybody underwhelmed by them haven't unlocked and used all of the possible upgrades for each weapon..

I detached the scope to have the standart stat bar.

when i hover over the old big scope, and hover over the holo sight, the old big scope raises the range bar more than the holo sight.

even the ingame description says its for close range.

but then the question is: is the holo sight better than he old big scope? which are the advantages?
