Sorry to say, but you now seem to be part of the "clueless" bunch. At mid to long ranges, the Assault SMG is more powerful than any other automatic firearm in the game. Of course, at even longer ranges you'd want something with a variable-zoom optic (scope).

Wrong, that's the Special Carbine and it has been ever since it first became available. There's a reason it's arguably the most popular and most used weapon.

Nope.

The damage of the Special Carbine (and every other assault rifle and others) reduces the longer range the target.

The damage of the Assault SMG does the exact same damage regardless of range.

The Special Carbine is an overall better weapon bud, not sure why you're arguing that. Assault SMG may be more impactful at longer ranges but the SC is a better package altogether.

As for saying the automatic rifle and sniper weapon class edge out the SMG weapon class... is it that out of the ordinary to believe such a thing? Genuinely curious if you think the SMG weapon class outshines either of the two. The Assault SMG is a solid weapon sure, however.

But the Special Carbine isn't a better weapon than the Assault SMG at a range of 80 metres, and neither is the Assault SMG as good as the Marksman Rifle/ Sniper Rifle/ Heavy Sniper Rifles at this or longer ranges, or those where you need that accuracy.

And sure, the Special Carbine is actually more accurate than the Assault SMG too. And no, I'm not attributing anything to any class - you can look at the game's files if you so desire, where you'd confirm that every gun's damage gets lower the further the range, apart from certain guns (and there's not many).

However, I would ask why you'd choose the Special Carbine over the Combat MG? I guess from your earlier post, you're agreeing that using the upgraded weapons, but keeping the original mags on, is generally the most beneficial?

I almost forgot the Combat MG and MG were in the SMG class, those two are absolutely deadly. And yes, that's what I was saying... not really due to lack of damage with the upgraded ammo types but more so due to the limited amount of upgraded ammo for all the MK II weapons. The Carbine, Combat MG and Heavy Sniper are the only three MK II weapons I use all with extended mags except the Heavy Sniper (explosive rounds). I just find the SMG as well as Pistol useless in comparison even with their MK II upgrades... that's the original point I was getting at. Not really due to the lack of power for both but when stacked against the above three, they don't compare.

The Assault SMG is generally better but there isn't any MK II upgrade available for it yet.

1.) Yes

2.) Temporarily yes. You'll get annoyed by the limited ammo soon enough and switch back to the extended mag.

Only weapon truly worth having special ammo for is the Heavy Sniper with its explosive rounds.

Ouch, although I'm planning to exclusively use it against the Kuruma folks & have other weapons for different situations, 480 rounds might not be enough.

I yet to unlock the Explosive ammo. I'm 20 researches in & I still can't get the dang thing lol, even with the restart trick. Tempted to just fast-track my way through, but knowing my luck it will be item 45.

Thanks, Rafae!

No problem :D

For those saying you only need explosive ammo, you should have AP rounds in one gun to deal with Kurumas and DoDs etc. And incendiary rounds to hear the screams of your enemies :D

FMJ for Kurumas. I use regular ammo for DOD.

I hate this addition to the game.

I love these new guns. Different strokes...

Anybody have a comparison between the new "Small" and Large" scopes for the MkII weapons? Curious to see if they're different, or just shrunk/enlarged versions of each other.

No difference whatsoever, just size. Same with holo, just a cosmetic change.

Does muzzle brake affects weapons positively or is it merely a waste of money?

Neither

It helps your bullets sound more conspicuous so it's def not a waste of money but it isn't really something to rave about either.

I'm not sure if this is necessarily the right thread for this but is any one else having an issue with your livery on the MK.II weapons changing to a gray color when you die?

For example my Heavy Sniper MK.II has an olive geometric pattern on it but once I die it'll switch to a gray geometric pattern. It's super frustrating.

So the stats bars lied, again?

Doesn't a muzzle-brake decrease recoil/increase accuracy? That's the idea anyway. They vent gas laterally to reduce the punch-back.

I played a heist setup and found mkII weapons and their regular versions in my weapon wheel. It seems when you upgrade weapons to mkII you just buy a new ones, and regulars just go hidden. Its a bug or a thing?

According to the game's files, they're supposed to. But I've lost faith in relying on the file's data.

Yeah the Mk.2 weapons are just new guns. In GTA V on PC, you can have both original and Mk.2 weapons as Michael/ Trevor/ Franklin/ anyone else.

Different muzzles give different accuracy. Not in the stats, however according tou youtube testers, groups were tighter with heavy duty muzzle when compared to others. There was definitely difference between different muzzles and not having upgrade or having only supressor.

Also, stats in the game are broken. According to testing, mk2 Carbine kills in 1.3 sec no matter which upgrades you have.

The heavy sniper with the thermal scope and explosive rounds makes you omnipotent.

How a full upgraded Assault Rifle MKII compares against a fully upgraded Advanced Rifle, Special Carbine and Bullpup Rifle?

I like how it looks, but I don't known if its worthy for PvE/PvP.

Thanks, I think that I will put FMJ rounds on it instead, to deal with Kurumas and Insurgents.

The Carbine MKII will be my main weapon with the MG MKII as my backup.

Yeah, I modded mine like a AK-12, classic earth tint and a light brown digital camo, looks amazing.

BTW, there is a "MKII weapon customization appreciation thread" in the forum? If not, there should be one, why not?
