Delete Own Post

Has there been any consideration for an option for users to delete their own posts? There have been a few times recently where I either posted in the wrong thread and needed to report the post to ask for it to be deleted and explain why.

Staff are very quick to react, just was thinking if it could be made easier at a user level.

Cheers.

This is a frequently asked question and it needs to be remembered that GTA Forums is very flexible in that the forum allows members to edit their own posts. Many forums do not allow this because they adhere to the old Chat Room adage that once you've said it, you should stand by it.

Some of that philosophy prevails in Forum Culture so no, you cannot just delete your post, but you can ask that staff do it for you via the report system, as you know.

It is true that sometimes we post in the wrong thread or section. Forum structure is changing ... possibly future software changes will deliver even greater flexibility in members posting experience but whether this will be a reality is a moot point.

If people could delete their own posts it would be hard for us to track wrong doings. I.e someone flames someone else and before they're detected they quickly remove it. As Rob mentioned we're happy to remove posts ourselves on request.:)
