illspirit
Okay, so it's not really new, as it's @ two years old now. I just thought I'd spam, erm, I mean post about it just in case anyone is interested. It's an all-new city from scratch, with about 70% new cars, some new texture work, and some new missions. It's sort of like a sequel to a snowy map I made for GTA1, only in this the snow is melted and half the city is flooded. Here's some screenies: And if you're bored and feel like dusting off your old copy of GTA2 to give it a go, you can download the mod here.

illspirit
I've installed it, and it is missing some sc?_ye.??? file, i installed it as it said, but it doesn't work, it just quits to windows with that error message, could you upload the file or something? Hmmm, that's odd, I rechecked the file I have uploaded, and all seems to be in order. Did you by any chance not put the 'SC2' folder from the zip into the data directory or something? There should only be the one sc_ye1.scr in it, and it's there. It could also be that it got corrupted during download. I'll have another look through it to make sure I didn't mix someting up though...

Viggen
f*cking hell, I started to get tired of GTA2's ingame level's but when I installed this level I suddenly remembered how good this game was!!! Anyway, is there a "map" available? it's hard to find respray's, churches, etc.

-cerbera-
GTA2 was a great achievement but I really cannot stand the vehicle physics. The handling is unbearable when it's not just for a fun 20min net game! Theres also all sorts of odd gameplay artefacts, like if you get out and a car pulls up over you, it makes you can go flying over any cars that are about at the time. And then there's... Are there net game files for this? You said you were making a new map especially for net play, any news on that? Who knows, in a couple of months time your net game map might be used as the official theatre for my GTA2 gang war project!
illspirit
Hey Cerbera, since everyone and their mom agrees that the vehicle physics in GTA2 suck ass, why don't you come up with a new set of them? You have done exellent work with 3, and the available, editible stats in 2 aren't all that different (albeit less detailed). That, and the horrible pallete system are really the main reasons why noone ever liked GTA2 that much, so perhaps you could remedy at least half the problems? Oh, and I never made any MP files for this because, well, I had never really played 2 online that much, and, erm, I didn't even know how up until a month ago. lol. My new online map is somewhere around 2/3 done at the moment. I've been taking a nit of a break from it this week, as I was starting to run short on archetectual ideas. But all that's left really are about 3 little neighborhood area thingies, and placing all the power-ups in the .scr. The scr shouldn't be that hard, since there won't be any missions. And I plan on adding some fun stuff to it like fire trucks with flamethrowers and a tank or two. @ Viggen- Well, I never got around to putting a church in the level. Mostly because there were hardly enough missions to justify a savegame. But here's a map with all the sprayshops, hospitals, and gang HQ's (in the style of Vice City's map, lol)... I forgot to put the crane on it, but the TV vans' dishes point to that, so it shouldn't be that hard to find. click to see the big version
-cerbera-
I tried once but the actual way they've set up the vehicle physics makes it impossible. In GTA1 there was stuff like setting the front and rear axle points, setting the aerodynamic drag, the CoM_Y, the lateral adhesion and so on. In GTA2 your best bet is to use the style that the Stigner has; that car is pretty fun to drive. And the Coach/Bus thing, that's quite believeble. I'm sort of loathe to start tinkering with GTA2 because I've started upall the GTA2 net game stuff now...

illspirit
how exsactly do u make levels anyway? dont flame me cos Im stupid Hehehe, you'e not stupid, just uneducated in the ways of the force mod. It's really just a matter of getting the map editor (it's in a topic around here somewhere), learning how to use the buggy thing, and building away. The maps work off of a rather simple cube system, so you don't have to know how to 3d model or anything.
BroDan
Im looking forward to your new MP map man, I am wondering are you gonna put peds in? I played it on lvl 1 and lvl2 but it doesent seem to relly take affect, becides the names of the guns and cars.... Oops, sorry 'bout that. I guess I really should have mentioned the cheat to open level 3 somewhere. To get it, first change your name to GOURANGA to turn on cheats, then use the name TUMYFROG to open all the levels. I se the mod up to use level 3 so that the army would show up in it. Oh, and BroDizzy, yea, I'm leaving peds out for the most part to hopefully cut back on lag. There will still be a couple of spots that spawn 'em though, mainly to test the difference when they're on screen, and maybe to put in some instant gang© pickups. I'm about 3/4 done with it now, so it shouldn't be long...

Sektor
Peds, traffic, parked cars and size of map, all seem to make no difference to multiplayer speed (unless you have a slow computer). All that stuff is calculated by both computers so very little data is sent but player button presses needs to be sent very quickly so you need a ping under 150ms. If you want to test a multiplayer map with no preds or traffic then you can get Bernaar©'s Race from http://www.gouranga.com/downloads-gta2-maps.htm#h4 It still requires under 150ms ping to be playable though This isn't meant to discourage you though illspirit, you should still make your multiplayer map, I just won't be able to play you unless I move out of Australia Edited July 19, 2011 by Sektor
BenMillard
Like GTA2 Multiplayer? Want People to Play Against? Check the pinned topic "GTA2 Gang War" in the Public Chat Area - my idea to put the gangs to good use... received largly with a disturbing lack of enthusiasm. I guess they want to stay as being a laughing stock/drama club. Best practise for GTA2 MP is to play the first level the whole way through, then read the tutes that I've linked to around here someplace... EDIT: I'd just like to re-iterate that I LOVE THIS SKIN. That is all.

BenMillard
Hmm, well, tried to explore the map but its full of buildings that aren't solid, water that isn't water etc. Isn't there a program like GTACops was for GTA1 which shows these sorts of blocks in a nice, bright colour? It all looked very good, but after playing 5 times I can't get past the second mission without encountering some sort of hollow building bug which means I have to exit the level. Uno Carb
Hey IllSpirit, I was reading your ReadMe.txt file and it says to make back-up copies of the following files: e.gxt, bil.sty and test.stq. You also said to do this in the GTA2/Data folder - um, I don't have that folder. Also, I cannot open any of the .scr and .gmp files. When you get a chance, I will need to talk to over AIM because I have no idea of what the f*ck I am doing. And, to avoid further f*cking up my computer, I would like you to kind of walk me through this since I have many questions.
