Brand new multiplayer map (beta)

illspirit

Recommended Posts

Rah. I just now put the finishing touches on v0.9 of my Yet-to-be-Named Multi-Player Map© for GTA2. As the verison number (and topic) implies, it is still a beta. There's only @ 20 weapons laying around for now and theres' no lights yet, so you'll have to play it in 'noon' mode. Other than that, everything seems to work okay so far, and there's a few special things in it which aren't on the standard MP maps.

At the moment it supports 2-4 players, and I've added a basic single player setup too, just in case anyone wants to check it out but can't play online. Feel free to lob any complaints, bugs, or suggestions at me here. ;)

I got a mention in the readme.txt

And just in case you can't play GTA2 online (*cough* S3KT0R ;) ),

I've included a single-player version as well so you can have a

go at the map anyway.

lol, did I miss something?  I can play online, I've played 100's of games, they all just happen to be against people on the bottom of the world since I can't get a decent ping to the other side :)

I think I just took the bait

/me carefully removes the hook :)

I made a multiplayer script and shamefully coded a .MMP maker in qbasic, check my crappy little webpage

http://drive.to/gtacrack

The firetruck is stuck in the wall in illMP-1.SCR (singleplayer).  It's fixed in 2-4 multiplayer.  It's annoying trying to keep all different player .mis files up to date.  I'd like to make a multiplayer .mis creator sometime, that just changes a few player commands etc, so you only need to make one .mis file.  I need to learn some more VB though, qbasic doesn't cut it anymore :)

I teleported it out of the wall :)

Great map, some nice weapon locations.  I think I found all the weapons but the only powerups i've found are instant gang and armour.  I found a car with vehicle gun.

Oh, you can play online? I thought you said in another thread that you can't, and therefor wouldn't be able to play the new map. Hehehe, my bad.

I wish I had known you had an mmp maker before I did this. But oh well, making them isn't too bad, since only a couple of lines need to be changed in them. And as for keeping all the .mis files up to date, I just delete all the lower numbered ones when I want to change something, edit the last one (4player script in this case), and do a copy/paste for the others, deleting the unneeded player lines as I go. It is a bit wonky like that, but I'm sure it's easier than going through the trouble of writing an app to do it for you. ;)

Sorry 'bout the firetruck being stuck in the wall there. I have no idea how that happened, it's using the same basic script as the others. Odd. I'll move it up a couple of pixels when I get a chance. Or if you want. I could send over the .mis file for you to play with...

BTW, did you ever find the tank on the map? It's in a bit of a tricky spot, which I think only the GTA90, Hacura, and Meteor can jump to. :p

I made the mmp generator since I needed to make 36 mmp files for my multiplayer mayhem scripts and sometimes I just wanted to make minor changes to the mmp files.

Too bad the compiler can't be used from the command line, takes a while manually loading and compiling 36 scripts.

You can use a 6 player .scr for a 2 player game since GTA2 ignores the extra PLAYER_PED commands.  It quits instantly if you have a GIVE_WEAPON command in there that tries to give a weapon to a player that doesn't exist.  If there was a way of checking if a player exists then I'd only need the one .mis file but I don't think there is.

The tank was easy to spot and there's 2 ways to get to it, one of them is much easier than using the big ramp.

The firetruck is cool but not really useful since it can be destroyed with one rocket shot and it's an easy target.

You might aswell release your .mis files, what harm can it do? :)

edit: changed 18 to 36, I forgot about the unlimited rocket frenzy scripts

ill, that was amazing.  I just played for a bit with my buddy cerbera and he showed me around.  I love the tank...the fire truck...all of it.  The stadium! jeeez that was awesome.  Very nice job and it'll surely make for some great competition between me and cerb!  :D

I want to play it as a regular level by myself...is it possible?  If so how.  If this has been asked before, sorry i'm stupid, I am just getting back into the gta2 scene.

Sorry for double posting too   Just wanted to make sure you saw it.

Just copy the files from the gta2\data\extras directory into gta2\data and then in singleplayer choose the 2nd level.

Alternatively you could load illMP.gmp, illMP-1.SCR, ste.sty using ishani's gta2 power manager.

You can also make a 1 player .mmp file

[MapFiles]

GMPFile = illMP.gmp

STYFile = ste.sty

SCRFile = illMP-1.scr

Description = illspirit test 1p

PlayerCount = 1

save as illMP-1.mmp , then you can load it by going to start network game.

Sorry for giving this a soemwhat obscene bump, but I was wondering whether Ill was going to add more powerups, the car rigging shops and so on? :rampage:

I took it upon myself to set up the lighting for this level as some small payback for the stuff Ill is doing for projects I am involved with (MultiSlayer and Majera) so, without further ado, here's some shots of my favourite bits:

Once Ill has tested the lighting for himself we'll pretend he liked it I hope he'll re-release the level as a BETA2... :p
