Vido Corleone
What if someone were to mod a whole new city? Like Mod a GTA1 version of the current Vice City. Not the old one. I think it would be cool. Have a Modding team set up to make a GTA Vice City map. not to be confused with the old version. Does anyone think this is promising? new cars, new city and it would be a great moral booster for the gang community
BenMillard
Over the next couple of weeks I'll make a topic which contains links to all the best cities that were made for GTA1. I don't think any new projects are really going to happen to make whole bloody cities because whole bloody cities take a couple of YEARS to write missions for! However, modding is always encouraged by me. Making bonus levels, or short little scenarios are more than welcome.
M. H. Hunter III
hum, ithink it would be kewl, but it would take looooooong time to do La famiglia è tutto The strength of a family, like the strength of an army is in its loyalty to each other.~ Mario Puzo ~

illspirit
Wow, a year cerb? How long did it take illspirit to make his gta2 cities? Oh man, my full-size city took ages to make. I started work on it in Feb 2000, and didn't finish it (well, not finished, as I only made 6 or 7 missions) until about 2 weeks before GTA3 came out in Oct 01. So yea, two years, minus about six months or so in the middle when me and my (now ex-)girlfriend moved in together. The multiplayer one only took about 2 months, but that's only about 1/8 the size of a full map, and there are no missions.

BenMillard
This is why I give Instant Status™ to people who I know are proper modders, like Illspirit, Stilton, Majestik and so on.
fred
I tried making my own city once... didn't get very far though,it took ages just to finish a very small part of it... then when I tried to test it out so far, I realised it was full of bugs, with 'drive-through' buildings and what have you. And that was just using the tiles from the existing cities, not creating my own like some people do. I even tried to get the computer controlled cars to drive on the left side of the road as in the UK (where I live ), but it didn't work as they were all 'programmed' or whatever, to drive on the right, so when they got to junctions and stuff things were a little messed up. So, yeh, they do take ages to make, but, if you had like a team of people making one, I suppose it could be done quite quickly...
Dred_furst
did you set the green arrow flag in the gta2 editor? it auto places them, you can change them, and make them do things, a bit like car paths, dont know what the red ones are tho, junctions settings, just copy them off the premade ones, i did, ill put another topic up with different junctions set up, this bit got me when i was making an addition to gta2
