Import / Export, The Cargobob Way

Recommended Posts

Mattoropael

"Altercation of some kind"

- Generally, you want to clear the area before hooking the car. This mission is one of the exceptions. It's much faster and SAFE to hook the car right away, suffer the shooting and call Lester.

- If you the crime scene on foot and try to hijack the vehicle, cops will start shooting into a car (therefore - damaging it). However, if you pick the car using Cargobob, cops will target the heli and the car will suffer less damage in the end.

- Suiciding won't work, since you will regain the stars every time you approach the car. The Lester call is the only cheap option that works.

Police Traffic Stops - pretty much the same as above

Police Chase

- Trying to pick the moving car that is being chased by a police is the worst case scenario. DO NOT get involved into a chase - prevent it instead. Look at the radar and try to recognize this mission long before approaching to the car. Never come close!!

1) Land your heli on some hill that presents a good sniper position.

.

2) Equip any of the long range sniper rifles and look for the sourcing vehicle. Police helicopter is a good non-obscured indicator.

3) Snipe the driver, take as many shots as you want. Distance is your friend, since not only it forces the driver to stay in place, but it also prevents your shots from damaging the sourcing vehicle! New thermal vision helmets are strongly recommended, since they can tell if if the driver is alive or not.

4) Snipe the police near the car (including the heli pilot)

5) Suicide to remove wanted level (optional)

6) Get Cargobob and pick the car. Be ready to call Lester. And be ready for another $0 damage delivery.

A slight tip to all sourcing missions that involve the police:

If you kill all the cops that spawned with the vehicle and lose the stars (EWO, Lester, waiting it out, whatever), you will not get any wanted level when you get in/hook the car.

^ Actually, in the Altercation and Traffic stop missions you can approach the scene in your Cargobob while hovering above the Lester's "Remove wanted level" option and use it when get stars.

Then you can just hook the car, no cops will chase you or damage the cargobob.

You don't have to shoot anyone or even exit the aircraft.

Except for the one where the car is parked underneath a large tree--the Cargobob can't pick it up due to the tree being in the way, and there's a police chopper that hovers overhead, even when you've successfully shot the driver in the vehicle. Can you "ram" it away from the tree with another vehicle without doing any damage to it? :-|

BTW, I need help on this... lol

How do you flip a car back once it's on its roof? (Don't ask) R* won't let you enter the vehicle to use the default "flip" method, and you can't hook the underside of the car with the Cargobob. Grr.

I even tried using my Ramp Car to try and flip it back, but to no avail--I was doing too much damage to it, and wasting time, so I just left the session:

^ If there is a police chopper, it means - there WILL be a chase.

Shoot the driver from a distance, shoot both cops in the cars and shoot the helicopter pilot. All cops can be killed at distance. You have to snipe 6 NPCs in order to do it clean. Alternatively, you can shoot just the driver and the pilot. Cops in the car will just drive away in a random direction

.

Someone claimed you can pick the flipped car with a cargobob. I didn't try it myself.

Can you "ram" it away from the tree with another vehicle without doing any damage to it?

Yes, you can.

. But any vehicle with low mass (something like x80?) will do the job. Don't try to ram it with Insurgent. Edited by flexcreator

Excellent! I would never have guessed you could snipe the cops without getting an instant three-star wanted level--will be part of my routine now. Thanks!

Ditto on trying to pick it up flipped with a Cargobob; I had made several unsuccessful attempts, but will try it again if it happens.

Appreciate all the advice. Sometimes things go very smoothly; but other days... *sigh*

I just wish the Buzzard could airlift cars--that would be perfect. :)

Excellent guide. Just to add to the being chased by buzzards topic, my I/E is near the factory where the Mexicans hang out so when trying to evade enemy buzzards I either fly through city between buildings or approaching from the casino way I try to fly close to the electric pylons as find the enemy will either fly into buildings or into pylons. One can get a tad hairy trying to keep heli and car steady dodging between obstacles but fun to hear the explosions behind as enemy choppers fly straight into them

^^ Oh yeah! :) I've noticed this as well--the NPC chopper pilot isn't very skilled, and will often either crash or somehow get stuck if you're able to take some tight corners around buildings.

@ flexcreator: Quick question on the police chase vehicle mission, specifically the stretch of road between Pacific Bluffs and Richman:

pacific_bluffs_richman.png

Am I missing something, or has R* recently moved the vehicle since your video was made so that more trees are blocking sniping view of it?

I tried multiple angles on the left-side hill last night, but couldn't find a spot close enough to see and snipe the car/driver.

^ I'm not too sure, but trees and buildings are blocking the view indeed. I had to fly to the west a little bit. You should care about the angle, not the distance. You have infinite attempts and you won't scare the driver if you miss.

If everything failed, the Avenger in autopilot mode can provide a good sniping platform, you can place it anywhere and jump on it from the CEO buzzard. But of course, it makes the mission longer to complete.

flex, any tips on how best to take out the Little Seoul gangsters in the "Tailing the Kuruma" mission?

I find them extremely deadly--almost all gunfire from them are instant one-shot kills; they will even go right through a freshly-spawned Armored Kuruma (I hope this is a bug!). This was of course in a solo public session, and I had alerted the Kuruma driver on purpose to speed up the mission (just wanted to get it done quickly).

The safest way seems to be approaching from the back of the houses on either side of the street (Vinewood Hills), and using tear gas as it won't hurt the car; but you can easily go through 8-10 canisters just to make sure they're all dead.

I have a sneaking suspicion that R* significantly increases the damage that's done to you by NPCs if you're running I/E missions in a solo public session...

My Armored Kuruma works great.

Not sure why they're killing you in yours. :(

I've used rockets but you have to be careful of splash damage and exploding cars too close to the target car, especially at the race meet missions (not the actual race missions)

Weaponized Tampa with double miniguns.

EDIT: You never have to recharge with this thing. Just corner the area slowly and never stop the fire. Don't rush into them, just wait them to come into your death ray.

You do know that the back of the Kuruma is not completely bulletproof anymore? Also, I got killed in kuruma during regular heists long before the I/E. Happens sometimes.

EDIT 2: Another solution is Gas Bombs, but they are pretty slow in my opinion.

^^ Ah; didn't know that about the Armored Kuruma. :( Dang it..! I hate it when good vehicles get nerfed. Memories of the Entity XF all over again.

I don't have the weaponized Tampa or its double mini-gun unlocks, so for now will probably just stick with the tear gas or try and do long-range sniping somehow.

Thanks for the info!

^ You can try Buzzarding the enemies at very long distances (like with the Barge mission), but it's kinda risky, since the sourcing vehicle is close and it's easy to get a direct hit. If you manage to avoid direct hits, Homing missles shouldn't provide any damage to the sourcing vehicle.

They do. Ask me how I know... :)

Also, cars that explode which are parked up to about 20 feet away will damage or destroy it.

.They do, I've done it.

But hey, just like everyone tried to tell me the Hunter is 20, 30, 40mph faster than the akula (with video) even though my own real life tests prove them wrong, why shouldn't I just take your word for it...? ( video didn't load )

Ok, sarcasm aside... I've used helis to source some 400+ cars. The key mission and the kuruma mission I always did with rockets cuz it's more efficient. Was always careful about what side of the building I was on. It took 3 times getting 34k damage (the max you can get) before I realized I was doing the damage myself.

I also used rockets in the race meet missions until one of the low riders I damaged eventually blew up next to my source car and destroyed it.

And since I never actually tried to prove it was happening myself, I will hold my final analysis until I test it. But I'm fairly certain I did the damage and not the NPCs.

^ Distance matters.

If you are shooting close - it WILL get the damage. If you are shooting from a long distance - it won't (assuming you haven't entered the car yet).

Same with a heavy sniper shots (non-explosive). If you are shooting close - it will get damage from the first shot. If you are shooting from very far distances - you can shoot 10 times, 15 times - it doesn't matter. The car will take 0 damage. Distance negotiate any damage that you can cause to the car.

Try it with a heavy sniper yourself.

I have done it with heavy sniper and explosive rounds and you, sir, are correct, yes. So it makes sense with the rockets. I do remember being fairly close at least one time it happened.

Funny how something so black and white can show us both being correct and wrong at the same time. :D

Just a heads-up on the "Little Seoul" gangster I/E missions--if you call in a PV like your Armored Kuruma (to try and stay alive), beware that R* will make sure it spawns right next to the gangsters--which means you have no hope in hell of getting in it alive. Note how far away I am from the IE vehicle/gangsters, and where my Armored Kuruma spawns right next to in the mini-map below:

ie_trolling_kuruma_spawn.png

This happens regardless of "Little Seoul" gangster mission location (same thing happened at the Vinewood Hills location).

At this point, I can't honestly recommend bothering with this mission, as the NPCs have been buffed far beyond the absurd trolling they were already doing. One-shot kill sniping is the name of the game thanks to the bozo(s) at R* who thought it was funny to crank up the "GTA$ throttling" factor.

And even a handful of shots from these NPCs will pretty much kill even a freshly-spawned Cargogbob, it's that pathetic.

In future, I will ditch this <expletive> mission just like I've been ditching the off-shore vehicle pickup mission.

Lol. I haven't done the I/E in a while. Guess, I need to reexamine the things.

You can skip this mission (without switching sessions) by flying in front of the kuruma - make them notice you. Then just fly away, you will lose the track of the vehicle, mission will end and you are free to start a VIP work.

I always orbited those IE Koreans with my CEO Buzzard, its what you learn with Special Cargo missions which has the exact same korean terminators.

But that was before I systematically destroyed the Kuruma, realizing it was better for my own sanity to skip the atrocious Kuruma pathfinding and dudes screaming "Shugooooo!". Can't be bothered with that anymore.

The kuruma will not spawn next to the gangstas if you land your cargo Bob in the street and face them . The car always spawns behind me. Just make sure you land far enough to not have them notice you before getting to the car. The mission is easy but just takes too much time for the stupid car to get to the hideout even if you alert it.

I always land a block or so away because the OP mofo like to come towards you. Which is good if you're shooting rockets but bad when trying to get from bob to kuruma.

Is the 10/10/12 method for only getting top end cars considered cheating/glitching or is this legit?
