Rockstar releases details and screens for GTA Online Gunrunning Update

Recommended Posts

Rockstar this evening teased some details of the very much anticipated Gunrunning Update which was first announced 2 months ago.

The "massive" weapons focused updated is slated to drop in June, most likely during the beginning of the month, giving the GTA Online subforum a few more weeks of hype to endure! What sounds to be an extension for CEO organisations and Biker MCs, the Gunrunning Update allows players to purchase underground bunkers where highly specialised and military level weaponry, included weaponised vehicles, can be stored. Part of the business itself involves selling on these weapons and vehicles, much like Import/Export or Special Vehicle Work, though we'll of course get to enjoy the fruits of our labours just as much as the dodgy buyers on the other end of the deal. There's also a drool-inducing mention of "new weapon upgrades and deep customization".

Rockstar shared 6 screenshots teasing some of the new vehicles available, including the below anti-aircraft missile launcher.

There's not many specifics other than this, such as prices, but Rockstar encourages us to stay tuned for more details to come. We're not quite sure if that means there'll be another preview article to come on the Newswire before the update actually drops, but we're imagining that a trailer will also accompany one at some point over the next week or two.

Pretty f*cking sick of yet more military sh*t.

Who's coming up with ideas at rockstar now? Pretty sure between even a dozen members of this forum we could do better.

More military weapons to annoy with, more imbalanced releases, and yes, more long drives from a to b in guise of actual gameplay.

Pretty sure it won't be an extension, rather a thing of its own but yeah this update looks epic

Gigantic. Enormous. Meaty. Mmmmmm.

Yeah I weren't quite sure how to read that bit, it's kind of ambiguous whether it means it'll be a new organisation system e.g. Militia or whether it's just an extra purchasable warehouse for any of the existing systems.

This is the line from the Newswire: "highly lucrative and equally malicious network hidden underground ripe for takeover by the VIPs, CEOs, and Biker bosses of Los Santos and Blaine County."

Yeah, just from the first few lines of how they worded the Newswire post kind of gives off the impression it's a thing of its own. I find it weird how they would describe both the CEO and Biker image and then segway into something that would be tied to them both?

It would make more sense of being like "Ok, so you've done this as VIP/CEOs and you've also done that as MCs, now here's something new but just as equally corrupted"

Then again, it could be something only available to you while you're registered as a VIP, CEO or MC which is why they may have included these previous ventures while describing the new one we're about to partake in. Eh, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The APC looks insane, it can be equipped with a anti-aircraft weapon system or with a turret, that beast is anphibious ... dayum ....it looks the Free-roam will be a hell once again ....

Armored Tampa looks good.

In one of the pics ... i think is a modified Duneloader with AA weaponry, looks interesting.

The new weapon upgrades plus the deep customization gained my attention... that Assault rifle with a modified stock, handguard and mag looks sick .... well i expect diferent sights, c'mon Rockstar ... don't let us down.

And like many around here i expect the Hunter too.

Just what we need, more military sh*t.

Are they trying to make GTA be able to compete with all these war games or some sh*t?

I guess it's gotten to the point of desperation for Rockstar. Personally for me, I'm still looking forward to this DLC because I need something new to spend my money on and customize and play around with each vehicle for about half an hour before shutting off the game. I've stopped expecting any sort of quality updates a long time back. Frankly the whole concept of "It's free so stop complaining and live with what they give out or make your own game and it's DLCs" makes me sick. We still play their game and a lot of people still give them business via shark cards, hence the continuous updates to online. The least we should get is atleast something worth firing up the game, rather than something like tiny racers. I do however find this DLC somewhat promising and thus would not like to judge it just yet. I'm looking forward to giving it an open-minded shot.

Can't even imagine what a cluster f freemode will be after this comes out. Probably look like Battlefield. Hopefully the gunrunning is actually lucrative and not 'spend 3 million on a bunker, do hours and hours of work, make 65K', or some such nonsense

Why is more military stuff a bad thing and more supercars, racing, etc a good thing? There has not been a single DLC dedicated to military based stuff, just DLCs like Heists that added a couple new weaponized vehicles. Yet here we are with the constant stream of supercars, racing, etc that no one can enjoy because no one knows how to drive and frankly, I hate the way races are in GTA V, Midnight Club games did a better job. And everyone's running around like a retarded headless chicken saying "RIP Freemode" and sh*t, lolno. Freemode will be fine, people asked for the return of the Hydra, they got it and bitched, they asked for a Bikers DLC, got it and bitched, and have been asking for a Military DLC for years now, got it, and once again did nothing but bitch.

Been waiting for the APC for a while so I'm happy with that, now I keep my hopes up for the Hunter.

Just what GTA Online needed. Good job, Rockstar, I can hardly wait to be peacefully driving around Los Santos with thrice a chance of getting blown up with some of that new machinery by some 10 year old who thinks is tough and needs to shove it on everyone's faces. No need to invest on new games that have a lot more potential at all.

If you simply want to "drive around" (at random I guess, not sure why that's interesting) you can just make a private lobby or play with some friends.

If you complain about gameplay features that are focused around public lobbies without knowing the whole point of GTA you're a fool. And yes completely ignore the days of GTA IV where Liberty City was WW3, and people loved it.

You do make a point with the private lobbies thing, actually, and my bad for not recognizing that would be an option. But it's one thing to blow the hell out of NPC's and get half of a police department from a city chasing your tail, killing players and not even allowing them to play the game properly is another. Passive mode? No, sorry, if I get the cops on me for running over an NPC, I can't even throw a simple punch and have to be activating and deactivating it constantly, which is, quite frankly, annoying. What if me and other player just wanna play our game and then some jerk decides he needs to come over and sh*t down our necks and ruin our fun? "Oh, just become friends and make an invite public session only" what if I don't wanna add someone as a friend though? And that's the thing, when you realise it, your friend list is either full or whatever, and 80% of those people are probably people you'll play with once - in that session. And I'll go ahead and say it - the whole point of this DLC is sincerely pointless and adds nothing but useless sh*t we've already seen in a new shape. This is Grand Theft Auto, not Call of Duty or Battlefield. And quoting my boy universetwisters:

Get real, Rockstar.

Freemode is dead on PC anyway unless they delete the cheating scum.

That aside, I'm not excited. Because of the current cheater 'problem' I haven't been playing at all, so I'm broke. Won't be able to afford to try this update out.

And no, R*, that doesn't mean I'll buy shark cards.

Adding military stuff automatically makes it CoD/Battlefield? Sorry no.

Freemode is, & always was a warzone. I'll point to GTA IV yet again. And even then several trailers before launch back in 2013 were filled with Buzzards and Lazers. Freemode is not designed to be a peaceful experience, you think if you put 30 feral cats in the same space they'd just get along saying "pass the bong"? Lolno.

I wish everyone would stop whining over something that isn't a problem, wasn't a problem & won't be a problem. In fact I see more people whining about griefers than I see actual griefers. And balance? Balance in GTA? Are you on drugs?

Another one of these there doesn't need to be balance in gta players. Balance is one of the most important things in a multiplayer game. There is a lot of unbalanced stuff in freemode currently such as jets explosive ammo, homing rockets, bulletproof helmets, bst abuse, ewo abuse, passive mode abuse, ghost organization spam, movement while using marksman rifle are the main ones. People using things like passive mode or ghost organization is fine as long as people are not abusing them in "PvP". If they were not a problem they would not be brought up as much as they do. Things like I listed still getting talked about proves that there is a problem. Just because you don't see a problem doesn't mean there not a problem. They nerfed the tank due to players feedback 3 years ago. You can only get a lazer by stealing one from the military base. Unlike the hydra which used to only spawn at airstrips they stupidly allowed them to spawn at every helipad at the game with no cooldown anymore. And buzzards back than were not really a big deal because you had again steal one unless you were a high enough level to buy one. Now people can buy homing rockets at level 1 when we had to wait until level 100 to buy a rocket launcher. People can now buy a hydra at level 1 when we had to be level 70 to buy the tank. Freemode was way more balanced back in 2014 than it is now.

Remember before the tank was nerfed and players who griefed with it would always tell people to switch lobbies or go in passive and say that they were crying for being bad at the game. I remember the day they nerfed it and those players were the ones crying saying it was nerfed. What an awesome day that was. Oh the game is in desperate need for overpowered things to be nerfed. I have used the tank back in the day and the jets now and they are overpowered. You can rack updozens of kills with them within a few minutes barely trying. Does the homing rocket work, no its basically useless. I had friends shoot dozens of them after me and all I did was that simple circle bs in the sky and not one hit me. It shouldn't be a 1 hit kill however it should at least be able to keep up with a simple circle.

You only made my point more clear. The game wasn't balanced at launch, people bitch, Rockstar makes a "balance fixer" only to f*ck up balance more. I mean for f*cks sake the game has a projectile system only comparable to the first Doom game. Rockstar does not care much about balancing their game, only to shove out more DLCs. No one will ever be happy, they'll just bitch. Because this Community doesn't know what it f*cking wants.
