Prince_Polaris
I just want to know if there are ways to reduce the load GTA V has on my CPU. It's an i5 4690, and no other game I own runs the CPU at 100% like this game does. Are there perhaps certain settings I can turn down? Also, ever since the windows 10 creator's update I cannot use windows borderless or else I have massive screen tearing, does anyone know why? I got an 3GB Asus Radeon R9 280. JanyaGalactic
windows 10 - this is the problem! Talking from personal experience with windows 10 testing. as long as possible it's best to keep windows 7, it's still getting updates! I like windows 10, and in my opinion it's less system-heavy then 7. HaRdSTyLe_83
but is the 100% load causing stutters? my i5-6600k @4,6 sometimes hit the 100% load on 1440p ultra, but i havent seen any stutter from it and the game runs fine without even droping the fps. i know some settings are more cpu bound, anything like population density or anything that adds more peds etc to render, not sure about draw distance Edited May 24, 2017 by HaRdSTyLe_83 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/887870-reduce-cpu-loadscreen-tearing-in-windowed-borderless/#findComment-1069590865 Share on other sites

Hard to drive through the city when the roads, buildings, sidewalks... actually everything but the cars is turning invisible and flickering in and out of existence I even installed the game on an SSD I stole from one of my laptops specifically for this game! guster-von
I was getting a lot of stutter and CPU spikes until I turned off Windows 10's gaming features such as recording, game mode (bar) etc. Check under Settings -> Gaming. JanyaGalactic
I was saying winbdows 10 made game lag and stutter while in windows 7 its all fine and watching performance on both windowses proved windows 10 being more system heavy plus some unknow issues with scripts! i will keep windows 7 until it loses support for all programs which need internet because gta 5 in unplayable on windows 10 (same f*cking hardware giving good fps on high settings combined with W7 BUT W10 is cutting away frames while keeping the fps rates)! You should, in my experience the game mode cut my fps in half in many games. Definitely not the best possible experience they promised. Have you tried running the game on Full Screen? Mine became buttery smooth after turning off this off. I feel like there is a significant difference between these two methods, Windows Borderless and Full Screen. Well... sure, I'll try it! Let us know how it turns out... With game mode off, the game seems to be a little less hard on my CPU, but there's still parts of the map that run it to 100%... but I really do think it's a little better! Windowed borderless causes massive screen tearing and full screen minimizes itself every time I tab out to respond to discord, so both of those are out Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/887870-reduce-cpu-loadscreen-tearing-in-windowed-borderless/#findComment-1069592096 Share on other sites
Prince_Polaris
Update! Racing through the city in my new warrener along with a youtube stream playing on monitor #5 now gets me this: So it seems turning that gaming stuff off did help a bit! As I parked to type this, it dropped down to hover between 80 and 90%, so that's cool too. FilipCRO
Also, don't use Self Radio if you have an i5 CPU, it's really a performance hog for a very stupid reason, and that's bad coding. I'm gonna get my hands on a sexy new i7 4790 for all this nice multitasking~ Also, don't use Self Radio if you have an i5 CPU, it's really a performance hog for a very stupid reason, and that's bad coding. it actually conflicts with game somehow until it crashes, until that it just takes over whole process generating lag in other parts of game and cpu brand doesn't matter here, rockstar did it's "magic" here! Krytor
If you don't want screen tearing, you need a monitor with "Freesync" I think your R9 280 GPU will have that, but you can also check and match your Hertz on monitor properties to your monitor. Another problem is you have a AMD GPU in a i5... The "i" series (i3,i5,i7) like Nivida GPU's, but lately the two companies are working together to solve compatibility issues.
