Her fans are just kids, awful. f*cking awful. I wonder what Ariana Grande will say about it. She probably feels some survivors guilt.

Heartbreaking. The thought of who the victims may be brought me to tears.

Just woke up to the news. If I started to say how I feel I would really go off on one. Young people went to have a great and exciting night. Now 19 are dead.

RIP

Post from a guy trolling one of her fan pages.

"Let's be honest, what happened at Ariana's concert was necessary. Now we have less stupid fans who thinks she's the greatest singer ever to deal with."

I swear, the lack of empathy from some people is just disgusting. :/ If they think her music sucks , fine, to each their own. But you don't have to glorify innocent peoples' deaths, especially since the majority of those who were affected are very young.

Comments like that are why I've stopped taking the internet seriously. You can't fix stupid. And every dumbass has an "opinion" these days.

None of those innocent people (or Ariana Grande herself) did anything to deserve that attack. My heart goes out to the victims and their families/friends.

Indifference can be a comfort, and a source of strength in itself.

I don't believe making a song and dance about every tragedy is very helpful. So, people have died. So what? They'll keep dying, this will inevitably happen again. I think we both know it.

It's healthier to detach yourself.

Information still rather sparse on the ground, but general consensus seems to be single male suicide bomber. Fatalities now up to 22.

Lots of unanswered questions. I know the Manchester Arena has provision for metal detectors on the door, as have many other similar buildings since the IRA campaigns of the 70s and 80s. I've not been to the Arena in a number of years but they've certainly been using metal detectors at lots of venues elsewhere in the UK. Which leaves me wondering whether there was some kind of security failure or lackadaisical-ness or whether access was gained some other way.

Uncle Sikee Atric

I have been recently, but not to a large concert like this.

Metal detectors were in use last night, but the theory is the bomber entered in via the white exit doors as they were opened and busy, then bombed the foyer.

Grande cannot blame herself for this....

The question has to be, is this a lone wolf, or an organized support group?

My thoughts to the victims.

Considering ISIS seem to favour gun attacks with multiple assailants acting at once, I'd guess this was a lone wolf - who they'll probably take credit for, as they always do.

The Prime Minister could slip on a f*cking banana peel and they'd claim they did it.

Gun attacks are much more difficult to conduct in the UK because of our firearms laws and border controls. Obtaining weapons for use in them is unusually difficult.

It's worth noting that most of the IS claimed attacks in the West (including those in Paris) have actually been lone wolves or small cells inspired by IS but not directed by them.

I live in Manchester. I'm in complete shock and sadness after watching it unfold on the news last night. Its hard to describe how disgusting it is to target children and teenagers with a bomb.

I find it worrying that most attacks like this are lone-wolf . For me it just solidifies the fact that there's many people out there, not even recruited by ISIS willing to die for Islam.

These things happen

Why bother post at all if you are going to be extremely indifferent and not even trying to display understanding for victims or families. I could waltz in to any topic and just dismiss anything posted with "these things happen." Quite frankly, your lack of displaying of empathy and your casual lack of self-awareness when dealing with a sensitive topic and mass death is inflammatory.

Indifference can be a comfort, and a source of strength in itself. I don't believe making a song and dance about every tragedy is very helpful. So, people have died. So what? They'll keep dying, this will inevitably happen again. I think we both know it. It's healthier to detach yourself.

Ok but you've posted 3 times in here. If you are so indifferent and "so, people have died. So what?" why bother?

Considering ISIS seem to favour gun attacks with multiple assailants acting at once, I'd guess this was a lone wolf - who they'll probably take credit for, as they always do. The Prime Minister could slip on a f*cking banana peel and they'd claim they did it.

Do they? I would have guessed suicide bombing was the most common but I don't have the data.

And it kind of depends on what you mean by lone wolf? I'm sure there was a support network there. I mean it's not really easy to pull off bomb-making, gathering of materials, construction and then execution. Assuming the perp is an Islamist fundamentalist/extremist, then the assailant may have been radicalized online by others, WhatsApp or other forms of communication or by others within the community before carrying out the act.

But then again, suicide bombers in the UK are often educated well and come from middle class backgrounds, so it's quite possible the offender learned how to bomb make and carry out the attack all by themselves.

But sure what should we care. These things happen :)

I am not a fan of Ariana Grande or her music but what happened last night at that concert is terrible, I cannot find the words how to describe how I feel about what happened to those poor kids going to a pop concert and having the time of their lives, and getting attacked by a terrorist. But in times like these, we need to stick together again, and we need to say no against fear, hatred and islamophobia which unfortunately always pops up during terror attacks in Europe.

They're just insane people willing to die for glory. Islam provides them with that. It's currently one of the big exporters of violent ideology and it's catering to dumb people with violent tendencies. But it's far from the only one. Terrorism is at its core just a human thing, as much as we'd like to pretend otherwise. It's not like terrorism is a new phenomenon on the block that didn't exist before Muslims. It's a supply and demand thing in a way. Sadly there's plenty of f*cktards asking for a reason to do something like this, and radical Muslims are one of the groups happy to provide them with an ideology that will not only let them do it but they'll convince them that they're doing the right thing. Until humanity realizes that ideologies are universally bad, terrorism will remain a threat. And they'll probably never realize it because most people are f*ckin' simpletons just waiting for someone to tell them what to think and how.

They seem preferable to pompous, self-aggrandising displays of grief.
