Yo calm down guys,

It's just to measure people's opinions on some posts.

For example a so called leak on the speculation thread can be judged by likes and dislikes in order to have a clear number of how many people believe or don't. Just an example as many others where it could make sense to add it.

 

Not talking to tiger or red, but some people come to this section and to support section just to hate on posts without making any effort to understand.

They are updating PBJ4 pretty soon, probably going to have to wait till that smoothes out. In the meantime you could just simply assign every post with a 4 digit number, start them all with a "9", then take all the positive replies (or responses if within an already established thread) and assign them an even number(or prime when you run out) that starts with the same first 2 digits of the initial post, *unless that post begins with a 9* and reassign all numbers within a poll post you need to create and have people vote. Make sure the poll options are weighted (duh) and then take the results, run a simple Heisenberg Compensatory Equation on the results *unless it starts with a 9* and if you can divide that number by itself for 0/0/N2, you'll know the post was positive, 0/0/1N2 means negative.

An even easier method of solving the formula A2 suggested is to just use the Duckworth-Lewis Method....

 

A dislike button is too easily abused when the Troll Cruise's of the forum want to start arguments and diss those that annoy them. I don't think it's necessary, or a good idea.

Precisely. Hence why a dislike button is completely unnecessary. It will only be used for trolls as all the mature posters will move on. Getting angry to the point of expressing that anger over one post is ridiculous.

The "like" button basically exists solely to prevent plebs from quoting and "+1"ing anything they agree with. As we don't really see people quoting posts to "-1" them, we really don't need a dislike button.

 

If you disagree with someone, either use your words and explain coherently and politely why, or keep quiet.

I actually think a dislike button would be cool. I understand the reason there isn't one, but I think overall it would add more to the experience than detract from it.

The only way I could see it possibly working is if we adopted a similar like/dislike system to YouTube where all you see is a thumbs up and thumbs down and the number of each. If it worked like it does now with the "like" system where you can see peoples' names it would cause so much unnecessary bickering it 'd be removed in a few days.

 

Though personally I just don't see the point. It would only be used to cause conflict and we already have to put up with that sh*t on a daily basis enough as it is.

Like MVC said, the YT like option would be the only scenario where it works. Since IPB likes system keeps a track through a profile counter I can see this being abused a lot and staff dealing with reports on the same. Personally, I don't see the point of adding a dislike button. If you don't like or agree with something, just move on. No need to show it off.

For example, a guy/girl with 300 "laughing likes" is obviously and easy going, funny person. A guy/girl with "angry dislikes" is obviously a guy/girl you would want to ignore. Same with the original "like" reaction, you know this person is respectable and liked in the community.

The dislike button will be error if is introduced with this site, why let me explain you:

 

You can comment or create a topic, by example you can write ¨GTA IV is better than GTA V¨ with this you have possibilities to hace like and dislikes, but GTA V its a current game and still playabla in the consoles and some people hate GTA IV, in this case you comment can have 13 likes and 45 dislikes makink a destructive diference in numbers, its better the site keeps only the like button
