Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed to Spring 2018 + New Screens

Over at the RDR2 section, many have been expecting news for a while. Or, I mean, everyone. Especially today, because the Take-Two investors call was happening early tomorrow in New York and we had absolutely no information on the game for seven months.

Today, Rockstar has confirmed everyone's fears. RDR2 was delayed to Spring 2018. With this, Rockstar says that:

This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

But not everything is bad news. Along with this, Rockstar have offered a selection of brand new screenshots from the game, that look absolutely stunning! Here's a selection. You can see the rest over at the Rockstar Newswire:

Hey remember when rockstar said gta v was coming out in spring of 2013? It got delayed to September. Hopefully it is the final delay and there won't be another one. However I checked different sources checking on games delayed by rockstar games. The furthest back I looked was gta 3. Every game since including gta 3 has been delayed.

Just sad to think that they have released a game every year since 1997 to 2013. Since they announced the delay, it will be a 5 year gap between them releasing the next game.

Red Dead Redemption - May 18th 2010 Red Dead Redemption 2 - Spring 2018 Its been a long time.

What an absolute shocker indeed! :p

I kind of was hoping to play RDR 2 through the winter. I like the idea of playing my favourite big games throughout the winter when the evenings get shorter and the weather is cooler. I don't know, I feel less guilty playing games when I know it's not sunny outside and sh*t.

But, RDR and Max Payne 3 released within a couple of days of my birthday which was nice and I'm guessing RDR2 will be this time next year maybe around May 16th. So it's not all bad

Anyway, I'm glad Rockstar is delaying the game rather than trying to stick to the deadline. I'm sure they really gave themselves what they thought was ample time. Xbox Scorpio specs released since RDR2 announcement, people left Rockstar and it's been a busy year for them all round. Another 6 months will hopefully more time to get the project where they want.

What they did in GTA Online worth for 5 games.

I totally saw this coming too, and I'm fine with it. Better to be delayed than to be Assassin's Creed Unity, or Batman: Arkham Knight on PC.

But those screenshots... oh my god those screenshots. That one in the forest with the redwoods...

How did I know this would happen :p

That's good news, because it gives me more time to save up for Collector's Edition if there will be one :r*:

I guess delaying has become a trademark for Rockstar.

It's almost as if they're a group of musicians who are really popular and never start their shows on time because you know...they're rockstars.

It wouldn't be Rockstar if they didn't delay their game. A friend of mine and I talked about RDR2 when it was announced, and that day I told him he shouldn't expect the game this fall but in Spring 2018.

Just ask yourselves: how many R* titles were released on time in the last 15 years? Not many, if any at all. It's not really a bad thing if it means that we will get a better game in the end. Never really had the chance to play Red Dead Redemption, and never cared for Red Dead Revolver, so this is going to be the first game of its kind I'll be playing.

The screenshots are looking gorgeous. RAGE really is something, isn't it? I'm looking forward for some gameplay, which in all honesty I am not expecting anytime soon. But I can wait.

I'm the opposite. Rdr I play more in the summer and I'll probably pick it up in the next month or so. I tend to feel the game more.
