Dee-account-with-1kbans
not sure You should have treated that piece of paper like it was worth $60. lol. When i preorder months in advance to a game's release, I leave it in my sock drawer. Did you have it crumpled up in your wallet or something? Emmi
what sense does pre-ordering a game make?
arno_cat
I made the mistake of preordering Grand Theft Auto V before the special editions were announced. I'm going to wait for Rockstar to announce the Red Dead Redemption 2 special editions and then preorder...
Raj The Rager
I don't know why everyone was so surprised when R* delayed RDR 2. Did people really think a game that big would be completed this year? And since when is R* ever on time with a release? 1898
^ Only hoped it would. I was encouraged enough to pre-order a PS4 Pro the day RDR2 was announced but there it sits, waiting.
eastriver
I don't know why everyone was so surprised when R* delayed RDR 2. Did people really think a game that big would be completed this year? And since when is R* ever on time with a release? A lot of people were confident they could make the Fall 2017 release date because RDR2 was announced way later into its development cycle... Unlike GTA V which was clearly announced way earlier in its development cycle.

eastriver
^ and how would you know that? I'm pretty sure there was a lot of things to hint at the fact that RDR2 was announced later into its development cycle. I've seen this discussed a few times. Regardless of that being true or not, from the discussion I saw in this forum, I know people were more confident that RDR2 would meet its Fall 2017 release because they believed it was announced closer to its development cycle. Spider-Vice
^ and how would you know that? Short term memory? You were around when all the LinkedIn investigations in the RDR2 rumour mill iirc. There were people working on an "unannounced project" from R* (before RDR2 was released) as far back as 2012/2013. Some of those edited that to say RDR2 after its announcement. That's 3-4 years between that to announcement. Meanwhile, GTA V had its first significant builds in 2010 (builds.xml from PS3 version) and was announced in 2011. Also, I think the delay might have had to do with the SAG-AFTRA voice actor union strike too. Take-Two was listed as affected in one of the documents released when it began. Jason
We know GTA V was announced early in hindsight, we didn't really have knowledge on it during the droughts if my memory serves. We have a surprising amount of information (nods on the Newswire, leaks, portfolios, etc) that RDR2 had already been in the works for a long time, combined that with the fact it's been 4 years since GTA V's launch there was a lot of confidence around this forum in particular that RDR2 wouldn't be delayed. Emmi
And yet it was delayed and I wouldn't even rule out it being delayed further into Summer 2018. Anyways, the month of September should be interesting. There should be news for sure, I believe in
DisCrafted
Please let there be light this month. Why the hell would we have to wait til September? Just give me 7 more screens. I could live with that for a month.
Emmi
One screenshot a week all the way till release would not hurt anyone?
DisCrafted
One screenshot a week all the way till release would not hurt anyone? Well that's what is going to happen once marketing starts. Remember when we were getting flooded with V screens?
Rockstar Vienna
Just my wild guess. Rockstar will tease an announcement late September/ early October. Then, GameInformer will reveal their RDR2 cover story for November. From then on we'll get our (almost) weekly Red Dead fix till Spring 2018. Pretty similar to the GTA V marketing late 2012. Spider-Vice
Well, looks like this thread is becoming the General Chat a little bit. So as to keep this as history of our reactions to the delay, let's continue the conversation there as we usually do. Locked. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire!
