There's also Vx5 Voltage's improved Merit mod and second gen Stanier mod as well, which I'm not sure if your texture packs (and that police plates mod) also compatible with his mod.

My textures are aimed at the stock vehicles but of course if the modded ones use the same texture sets or anything then they should be fine, I'm not sure about the mods in question as I've not tried them but as shown my updated textures are the same or as close as possible to the originals, just in a higher resolution.

Things have been busy in real life but I wanted to provide a small update for the month:

 

GTA IV & TBOGT Alternative Police License Plates

I noticed that I missed out the Police Stockade which can spawn with a plate. This update now includes textures for that vehicle. Direct Link.

 

GTA IV Vehicle Pack 1.5b

This update is mainly focused on getting rid of some upscale parts. Vehicles that have been updated include the Futo, Cabby, Taxi, Taxi2 and one NEW vehicle which is the Stratum. Direct Link.

One of the details that was previously an upscale has now been recreated taking influence from real life NYC Taxi Co.

 

TBOGT Vehicle Pack 1.2c

As noted above, TBOGT features an updated Futo so the texture update has also been added here. Direct Link.

 

 

As for the future, I've done the Xbox One/Series controller icons for GTA IV (as well as PS3/4) but I'm just wondering if I should provide the menu controller too (which takes longer and is slightly annoying to do). I'm also working on updating the weapon spec maps for the GTA IV weapons with the idea being to make sure normal and spec map textures are the same resolution and based on final weapons. This one should be out soon. After that I'm not sure if I want to continue on to the map itself or move on to the peds/player as both will be a much larger task but also feel redundant as other modders have done such things on here too.

@Ash735 I absolutely LOVE your GTA IV work!! The low res of the car interiors always disappointed me, especially with First Person Mod. You did such great work on this IMO. Can't wait for updates and new additions!

Also, I have a few suggestions:

1. I noticed that there's a typo in the original and upscaled cabby badge texture. Rockstar wrote "desgined" instead of designed. It's very small and almost unreadable, but maybe you feel like fixing it.

2. The reverse lights of the serrano look kinda orange-is when active in game. Is this normal or can it be improved?

3. Would it be possible, to have better license plates for all vehicles? The normal ones look quite pixelated and yours for the police vehicles look so clean!

 

You wrote, that "other models have done such things as you are planning to already, what are their mods? I am really interested in fixing/improving the game but keeping it vanilla also!

Grand Theft Auto IV Improved Weapon Spec

Improved Weapon Spec textures for the Original GTA IV weapons, bringing them in line with the quality of EFLC

So What Is It?

This pack contains improved weapon specular textures for six of the default weapons (and three misc items) created using their final textures and bringing them all up to the same resolution as the base texture. It's only a small improvement that's noticeable in direct light but it helps the weapons look less "muddy".

These are remastered versions of an unused radio logo I created for a mod a few years back, the Liberty City V project that was famously shut down by Take-Two. The idea for the mod version was to split up Vladivostok FM so the Eastern European/Russian theme and the European Dance mixes would be separated. So I came up with the branding style of it being a "sister station" to Vladivostok FM, as for the name "Vladivostok EuroBEAT" that came from the internal filename for the station "EUROBEAT_MIX".

 

Now for the history of why I based the design between the Vladivostok FM logo and these..

I'll let Wikipedia cover this one:

From 2008 to October 30, 2009, WNYZ-LP operated as the dance music format Pulse 87. That's right! In real life New York City in 2008 the Russian station was changed to be a Dance station and Rockstar weirdly worked that into the game seeing as TBOGT came out in 2009. Ironically the station ceased broadcasting just as Episodes from Liberty City came out on PS3 and PC.

 

The station later came back as an Online only radio station which is still streaming to this day (as of 10th of June 2021), with a new logo design as well:

So for the "Vladivostok EuroBEAT" logo I took inspiration from the original 2008 logo (and the early pre-launch logo), such as the colours and the waveform but kept the flat design that all the other radio stations in-game used and built the concept around that. I then did a GTA IV HUD version and a GTAV Radio Wheel version (by this point I had already done GTAV radio wheel versions of all the GTA IV/EFLC stations, maybe I'll show them off some day) before saving these and throwing them onto an external drive. Only recently did I dig them out when I was working on the above mod.

I'd just like to follw up on this, really interesting looking! Any plans on releasing it soon, by any chance?

Roman Bellic Enterprises now looks better than ever, though I swear he could've done it sooner, you'd think he would of done it first so I could show it off to everyone! But, oh well cousin, now all the woman that ride in my cab always comment about how nice it looks and how much they want to show me their titties! You should take it for a drive soon cosuin!"

After what feels like a huge gap since the last update for the GTA IV Vehicle Pack, I'm finally back with a near complete update that has cleaned up and fixed a lot of minor things that Rockstar forgot about. First up here is the list for what's been updated and added into 1.6:

In this update we have SEVEN new interiors, a good chunk had to be made from scratch as they did not exist in GTAV or Max Payne 3, but rest assured I've only used parts from the textures in the game, no outside sources!

As mentioned in this tweet from August 30th, all vehicles that use the whitewall wheels have been given their own normal map so they no longer look glitched in-game:

And since I've had to do this for Roman's Cab, I've then applied this updated texture to the rest of the Taxi's and Cabbie's in the game, here I've remade the taxi stickers that appear inside and outside various vehicles:

1) Thanks for pointing this out, due to the small size it was annoying to fix, but, well, it's fixed now.

2) This appears to be a design choice by Rockstar as the same thing happens in GTAV with this vehicle.

3) Sadly the quality is the best they can be for now without requiring all trhe vehicles to be corrected model wise, however I have gone back and improved the default plates a bit more with the proper details so hopefully this should be better in-game.

As with any higher resolution texture update, yes it will affect performance, but in all honesty I've not noticed any issues yet, most modern GPUs have both faster and larger VRAM to negate the additional cost of these higher resolution textures for this game. There's still plenty of games out there that use a lot more VRAM compared to this mod.

May be a dumb question but does this produce the taxi bug? I mean the vehicles.img file size is significantly bigger..

The taxi bug is fixed by the RIL.Budgeted mod, with the VehicleBudget in the .ini set to the size of your bigger vehicle.img file, likewise for PedBudget if you've upgraded the player or NPC files. I think RIL.Budgeted causes another bug of sometimes the car engine sound being muted briefly, but it's not often enough to be a deal-breaker. It definitely fixes the taxi bug.

I have fusion fix for the CE installed and I think RIL.Budgeted is already included in the fusionfix.ini, so that will do, right? I don't/shouldn't install RIL seperately then? Obviously I 'm not too good at this so: Do I have to put the exact size of my vehicles .img file as the RIL "VehicleBudget" number? And what about TLAD and TBoGT, do I have to add their vehicle .img file size to that or don't they affect it? Sorry, I may sound confused, because I am :(

Alright, got it. Looked it up on the RIL.Budgeted Mod page on GTAF. Figured out, what number to put in.

Also, never realized, that I had to "activate" RIL coming with FusionFix by deleting the ";" in the fuisionfix.ini. Jesus I'm stupid. Always thought RIL was crap, but it isn't. It actually works so well now.

Hey guys, thinking about working on something GTA related again and I remembered this brilliant thread by @donnits that features various versions of the GTA IV radar, the one I requested back then was something close to Google Maps Dark Mode as I thought that suited the style pretty well, so I've gone and tested just a few chunks of the map to see hwo it looks and after some colour correction and slight changes I've ended up with this...

and finishing it? Aka upscaling missing textures / reusing them from other Rockstar titles if possible? (and keeping rotterdam tower lights pink)
