Does anyone know at what stage Viper unlocks in the story? I was planning to use it as my drift car.

So I ended up buying this on Friday and actually it's a really good game lol... I love it. It didn't deserve those bad reviews and although it needs some tweaking and some features added in (online freeroam!!!!), it's still a fun game. I really love those 993s!

i just imagined a better NFS story in the blink of an eye.
I´d make it another Reboot but a good one hopefully:

Intro:
You see two boys in the late 1990s, maybe 6 years old playing with toycars and "racing" them in their driveway. They´re best friends and cars are their big thing, everything is about cars for them. (Maybe also let it be a girl and a boy and let the player choose one of them when career-mode starts)
Another cutscene, now theyre around 10. One of their dads shows them his build, a nice classic camaro and teaches them how to repair things and all that stuff.

Another cutscene: Theyre like 15 and racing in videogames, trying to beat the other one on and on. After a final race they claim to want to be the best racer one time.

They´re turning 16. The player chooses one of them, and now you can select your first car on a junkyard, with the money left you also can apply some first little mods.

First evening 16: you´re trying yourself as a racer in the local car scene and drive against some highschool kids.

Then you drive like 4 or 5 events and then the cops get to chase you.

The bust you and you get arrested. Also your childhood-friend got injured and lays in hospital. Everyone is disappointed at you and the caution takes most of your money.

Your parents are angry and everything seems to fall apart. They think you wont make something out of your life and think you will get killed in an accident if you keep on racing.

Now is where the game really starts, you only got your first beater car and about 5000 bucks.

You decide to make money and start a business, all about cars.

With an alias you start to set records in town and gain fame and money.

After some time you unlock a garage and now you´re able to buy and sell cars as businessman. You buy old wrecks, pimp them the way you want and drive some events with them so the cars get famous and everyone from the scene wants them.

Your final aim is to be winner of an national "race wars"-like event with different categories.

Once you hit the top your shop expanses and you´re able to create your own events , avaiable for everyone in multiplayer.

One could combine all this also with some kind of youtube-fame by collecting clicks and so on.

Tuning and Customization should be classic with shops for all different kind of mods

Too late in the game for it to be relevant in terms of drift leagues

The "build" system. In 2015, if you bought a car, you could do whatever you wanted with it. At will. You could make it racecar, go back to the garage randomly jiggle sliders, then have a drift car. In this game, each car has a specific build and it can only do one thing. If you want to drift your M4, you have to buy a "drift" M4. If you want to race it, you have to buy a "race" M4. Wanna be a wheelman and run from cops? You have to buy a "runner" M4. If you wanna do multiple things, you gotta buy multiple cars.

f*ckery.

Wow... that`s disappointing for me.

I love the community wraps big time, and I've seen plenty of full CF wraps but I have no clue how they make them. I didnt see a preset CF layer so I'm quite puzzled as to how they make them. If it's long tedious detail work then holy sh*t that must take ages to do. Pretty much all the wraps I've seen are insane tho, jeez.

There are carbon presets in one of the checkered flag sets. In 2015 it was far more tedious, having to use patterned lines to create the weave on your own.

so is this game just good as a photography simulator?

i cant find anything good about it

- story seems like a clichê after another

- arcade driving physics

- no wheel support

- random upgrades

- not enough costumization

- no cops in open world

It's fun if you embrace the goofy story and don't feel like you need to max every car you own out.

That's the thing though, it's fun

Everyone hates on it because they want forza horizon jdm boogaloo

The core gameplay is actually pretty good. The races are fun until you hit a wall and have to grind until you blindly pick the speed card that will give your car the boost in stats that will allow you to win the next race.

- story seems like a clichê after another

It is. And the voice acting/dialogue is abysmal.

- arcade driving physics

It does have arcade driving physics. With the exception of the Shift entries of the series, though, NFS games have always had arcade driving physics.

- no wheel support

There is no wheel support, but it's far, faaaaaaar too arcade-y to play well with a wheel.

- random upgrades

Absolute truth, and easily my biggest sticking point. Aesthetics aside, your cars aren't built or tuned in anyway. They're merely stat-boosted. I don't know why the game insists on calling what is essentially a Pokemon deck for cars "builds".

- not enough costumization

See above. You can't simply buy parts. You can't buy an ECU or headers with the money you earn. You have to depend on winning completely random speed cards that grant you boosts/perks for your car. This is dumbest thing that EA had implemented since they required that we be constantly online for 2015's SP campaign.

- no cops in open world

Eh. They aren't as engaging, or as well-implemented as you'd hope. The rubber banding is atrocious in those portions of the game. It's crazy to see generic Crown Victorias blow the doors off your highly-tuned... my bad... your completely random, haphazardly upgraded car while you're doing 150. They stick with you until you whittle their health down no matter what you do to them. I shunted one past the course-designated freeway exit ramp/checkpoint at 140 mph. He went the wrong way. The f*cker was back on top of me within seconds. Somehow he managed to stop, turn around, make a U at the correct exit, and catch up to me in a matter of SECONDS. -__- Edited by We Are Ninja

chronic lumbago

Angry Joe gave it a quick and painless 2/10. Not a full review but he probably won't even bother playing through this because of the pokedeck system.

Speed cards are what every car enthusiast wanted in a racing game.

Just wanted to post this, lmao

OT, who is the fker at EA that said ''let's put cards as upgrades in a NFS game''???

WTF is this a free to play game? Oh, 60$ with free to play mechanics, ok, now, what's next? I won't be surprised if games in the future release with all that parody Joe did in the video. Platformers that requires you to drop in extra 10$ for the ability to jump, I won't be surprised if this will be the case, because, one year ago, who taught NFS will have a sh*tty mechanic like CARDS in it? I was looking forward for this game, Underground 2 was also my last NFS game played, and I had the chance at EA to QA test this sh*it, good thing the Fifa team moved me to BF1 (and I quit, until Fifa 19 starts). Man, WTF is dis s*hit........ :miranda::miranda::miranda:

They took that system from NFS No Limits. Their mobile\Android game which is a free game but it is so annoying that it kinda forces you to pay real money just to advance the career mode. It's cancer.

It's funny because they had cards like that in NFS Most Wanted, yeah, the original one. When you beat a blacklist racer you had the option to pick one prize which included performance upgrades and other upgrades or the pink slip. But it was never the whole f*cking mechanic that controlled the upgrades for cars. It's a pure marketing scheme designed to milk money from their customers. By all means sh*t on this game as hard as possible. Let the negative reviews flow.

I was about to ask the same thing, as that was basically what NFS 2015 was for me anyways.

I think I will pick this up, just gonna wait for a sale of sorts.

also gotta love how they make you use your drag car for time attack mountain course races solo and with other racers.

When I saw previews for the game, I assumed that the speed cards were bonus items. Like, you would win bonus/special items that might grant you perks or rare parts. I had no idea that this random f*ckery would inhibit game progress. My drag car needs more power, and all I keep winning turbos that increase my jumping/landing rating. FOR MY f*ckING DRAG CAR. It was funny when I posted it earlier, but not now. I literally can't progress unless I draw/buy a better, randomly-generated card.

I legit rage quit last night.

Changing your tuning changes quite a bit as far as drag racing. Have you tried putting the gearbox toward acceleration and nitrous toward power?
