The same counts for NBA 2k18 but there are multiple live streams a thousands of viewers

Alright..Anyway I will love to see Take-Two acquire for Social Point: Madfinger Games (Shadowgun, Samuraii) and Nordeus (Top Eleven). Then for Rockstar buyout Hi-Rez or Daybreak (rebranding them into Rockstar Online Studios) and for 2K, Obsidian and Turtle Rock. For their Independent initiative they should buy Twisted Pixel (Splosion man), and THQ Nordic all these buys will cost them just $300 million.

So which one do you prefer EA, Activision or T2? They are all aiming in the same direction.

Development cycles for games changed and that largely thanks to the invention of microtransactions.

With this value stream a game can be supported during its product life cycle. Otherwise something like GTAO would not have been possible because of development costs.

We have to love it or leave it. It's the current and future vision for games.

One more thought about this. The next big thing will be to connect the virtual with the real world.

And NBA2k18 has already the foundation for this.

There is a T-Shirt designer and Foot Looker in the game. 2K could simply partner with Nike and make a contest to design shirts and sneakers.

The winning design willl be manufactured in limited quantities and can be purchased in stores and online in the game.

I don't prefer any of those publishers, they're all the same, squeezing the consumer to the last penny. If I had to choose I would choose CD Projekt. They have actual respect for their customers. Wanna know why?: They don't cut content from the base game and launch it as DLC, instead they launch expansion packs with an incredible amount of content at incredibly low prices. You know, like in the old days. (Or maybe you're too young, I don't really care.) They don't put microtransactions in a premium $60 game. And most important, unlike Rockstar, CD Projekt gives real importance to the singleplayer.

Look, you can waste your money in microtransactions all you want. But if you're going to do it, keep in mind that it's because of people like you that the video game industry has worsened considerably. You even talk like GTA:O is a good thing. It may have been a good concept but the execution is just awful. That game is grindfest at its finest.

GTA Online is a great thing for investors/T2, that's the perspective he's adopting. We gaming fans are the only ones angry at GTA Online, the investors are loving it. It's not because of "people like him" that the gaming industry has worsened, he's speaking the truth. Investors love it, it rises TTWO's stock, therefore it's profitable. It's just that we're gamer fans of Rockstar Games, not shareholders/investors, so for us it's an awful thing. Publishers just found a way to milk money out of people and it's not going to stop, and people are not going to stop consuming microtransactions either. It's a plan that worked, much to our disappointment with Ubisoft, EA, what have you.

Because it's profitable, he isn't very wrong in saying this is the future vision for games. We've reached the microtransaction stage for a reason. It doesn't mean Rockstar will continue to act like GTA Online is the greatest thing forever, or even ruin RDR2 with Online and not release any SP DLC or butcher its story, but he is definitely right in saying this is what's awaiting us - this microtransaction, DLC and Online model. For the gaming industry in general. Because it's profitable and people will consume it, and they won't stop, people want content, a lot will pay for it. Unfortunately for us that we want fair and better gaming experiences, fortunately for publishers. Corporate first ;)

However, imo, this isn't necessarily a deterrent for great games, it only depends to what extent they bring those microtransactions/pay to win content to. Especially because many times these decisions are made by the publishers, and, in the case of GTA Online, you have very small teams developing these DLC's.

If Strauss and the Board are deciding which companies they should acquire next and it just down to THQ Nordic or Rebellion i so hope they go for Rebellion. They get the talents including the founders, Sniper, and the 2000AD Universe. Heck Social Point can make Kerbal sequels but also do an excellent 2000AD game a la Marvel champions. And Rockstar's Toronto studio can make a great game based on Rogue Troopers. 2K also made a great comic book game even surpassing the Darkness series. I was not surprised to see shareholders ask about the growing cash now at $1.4 Billion.

@Spider-Vice

Great explanation of the situation. A player of Rockstar Games products can keep enjoying the incredible worlds they build in Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead and others. I don't think any of this will interfere with R*'s ability to deliver great story experience for single players in the coming years and starting with Redemption 2. In fact, the revenue stream generated by the industry-wide Online microtransactions trend is possibly giving them more time and freedom to develop better and more refined games. They're now not under pressure to keep pushing their developers to deliver a large AAA game every one year or two in order to meet the growth demands of T2, and we've all heard what happened during the 2009-2013 period. I believe Redemption 2 will prove how great this model is when it will show off as the most refined and bug-free game published by Rockstar Games at release.

On another topic, the digital version of NBA 2K18 is now an Amazon best seller for both PS4&X1 versions: https://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames

It's performing the same on BestBuy and possibly Gamestop, but I cannot check the latter because it's denying me from accessing the website for some reason!

Like Spider said I'm looking at this as an investor. To be honest the last game I played was Titanfall 2 and then from time to time I played a little bit of Dota. But that's mainly all. GTA is on my shelf but actually just played it for an hour or so.

As long as the balance is not hurt that a game gets pay 2 win I don't have any problems with microtransactions. When people want to skip delevopment trees in games and pay for that it is their own thing. It just needs to be assured that people not spending money can reach the same thing by investing time instead of money.

Taking about NBA 2k18 I have some doubts that this is the case. Many people complain about not earning any VC from neighborhood gameplay. I saw some other new opened arenas where you can compete for VC.

2k needs to step in urgently patch a lot of things and get in contact with the community. 2k18 will be a success but I see some dark clouds approaching

What happened to NBA Live 18? it rarely on Twitch? 2K18 off to a great start hope that continue highly.

EDIT: Mafia 3 was an unexpected success for 2K now Mafia 4 should be learn from some of the mistake and be critical not just commercial.

Don't know is kind of dead

6 streams right now with ~30 viewers

Mafia franchise will be on a shelf for some time. (4-7 years)

Before we have RDR, Bully, Borderlands, La Noire and I deeply hope for a Max Payne remaster plus Max Payne 4. Max has been absent for long time. The franchise is ready for a come back

I wouldn't expect much from NBA 2k18 on Twitch, it's not the type of game to do well. Sports games aren't particularly popular with people who watch streams, despite the fact they are some of the best selling games. It took Fifa a long time to carve an audience out and even that is built on pack openings in Ultimate Team.

Mafia games never had multiplayer I think 2K Publishing Group need to start implementing multiplayers in their games not just Borderlands and Sports. And yeah a new Max Payne game will be an hit or even Spec Ops if it have a spin-off title a la Tom Clancy's Widlands (with the success of Mafia 3 I don't see another taking that long and that established Hangar 13)

EDIT: @Jason, True that.

3000k viewers for on Twitch for a two-day old game. Insanity! (Run My Neighbourhood was a game-changer!).

yep. And till Tuesday the game is not officially released. So all the players right now are just people who did pre order the game.

I have watched a couple of streams for some time. For me it looks cool.

The idea behind the neighbbourhood is great. Endless possibilities.

I think next week they will open the venue as well where you can compete for VC. That makes the game kind of addictive.

Hope they will fast patch some major flaws to get it right.

The concept itself has the possibility to keep players engaged with the game till NBA 2k19 and the Neighbourhood #2 is going to be released.

Lets see if EA hops on.

We can be sure this concept gets bigger and more flawless next year, where you could also think about to make it free to play with VC as ingame currency

Open World Free to Play NBA Game. Could be a huge thing

Great comment FlatFX. The 2K brand is powerful in sports that and Rockstar's dominant in Action-Adventure, Open-World is the reasons EA wanted to pay $2 Billion for Take-Two Interactive nearly 10 years ago (and they were just worth less than $1 Billion back then). NBA 2K18 and continued growth of GTA V and GTA Online and even NBA 2K17 will drive digital and rcs revenues to record-high. $13 Billion in market cap by end of 2017. And $19-21 Billion by 2018 if RDR2, Untitled game from 2K, League of Dragons from Social Point, and even NBA 2K18 speed up momentums which are growing so high. Go Take-Two Interactive!

EDIT: I am really looking forward to see what the third label that includes the Independent initiative and Social Point will be called (probably SP/Take-Two Independent or SP/TTI or Take-Two/Social Point Group) anyway the Kerbals could be Minions of Gaming.

One thing is clear if NBA 2k18 sells more units than last year, next earnings release will rocket the stock because recurrent consumer spending and margin will increase into new dimensions powered by the neighborhood

Amen Brother..I will be shocked if NBA 2K18 adds $2 Billion to their market cap so instead of ending 2017 with $13 Billion it ends with $14 Billion. And there is still WWE 2K18, Kerbal Space Programing: Making of History Pack, and L.A. Noire Remastered all these mentioned titles (excluding KSP) all on Switch.

With the announcement of LA Noire 2B$ is a must

RCS was a game-changer see why Activision and EA had to implement similar model (we can argue that Take-Two were not the first) and then there is Digital. And now that there are using Net sales instead of Bookings I am so stoked. Give or Take, this company could be a $15 Billion market cap entity by January 31st or February 10th 2017 and post-RDR2 be a $19-21 Billion beast even though EA and Activision will keep getting bigger. The Three of them own the Gaming world.

EDIT: As Take-Two's market cap keep growing I don't expect them to use stock as currency they seem to like use cash and also not overpay. If they get to $300.00 and split the stock they will be a $30-40 Billion market cap company in 2019.

Go Take-Two Interactive!

EDIT: They now have 3/10 on all sales charts, RDR2 and 2K's untitled game should hopefully give them 5/10 (6/10).

On the other hand, user reviews look to be not doing so well. Skimming through comments, it's clear that most complaints are about microtransactions, with some saying that it has become a clearer money grab scheme. I don't know, but Virtual Currency packs are best sellers on Gamestop alongside the digital code of the game itself.

It's a great showing for a Basketball game in the UK, but topping PES is not an achievement, last years did about 50k sales in it's first week where as Fifa 17 outsold it 40:1 in it's first week.

Amen Brother..Anyway we all know Grand Theft Auto worldwide trademark is owned by Take-Two Interactive (so games, tv, films etc.) however they also patented the GTA V logo so if any spin-offs were to be made out of the game for example it could just go like V: Tokyo -A GTA Game- or a Switch-only title V:Chinatown Wars 2 -A GTA Game-. Anyway the company should be a $13-14 Billion market cap company by year end and i still believe $300.00 by early 2019. Here:https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/09/18/will-grand-theft-auto-continue-to-push-take-two-in.aspx?yptr=yahoo

EDIT: I think the title of the thread should just be re-titled Take-Two Interactive Company or All about Take-Two Interactive. Anyway I still appreciate the love and effort for the thread. Thanks You All :colgate:
