  1. 1. Interesting or not?

Anyone else notice how a couple of the npc's are floating and don't have their shadows attached to them? Or is that just me?

Yup. The guy in the front isn't leaning against the pillar and it's apparent by his shadow which doesn't converge with the pillar's shadow. They're far away. He's floating and look photoshopped as a result.

Instead of making memes and sh*t I propose getting to the bottom of this

1) Someone with RDR. Go into the game and see if you can stand on a porch/patio and recreate this same screenshot in one of the towns. Then we KNOW it's fake-as-ferck.

And that means the leaning guy is clearly fake, along with other aspects of the picture.

So with everyone comparing the "leaked" screenshot to Red Dead Redemption's town "Armadillo" and also to some objects/props seen within Red Dead Redemptions 2 Trailer, I've decided to compose the following three images of the differences and similarities they all show to clear some things up. The following images 1 (the "leaked" screenshot), 2 (Red Dead Redemption's Armadillo), 3 (Red Dead Redemptions 2 Trailer Scene - General Store).

As you can see, I've circled specific points within all images which are numbered, these correspond to the same specific points in all images.

1. (Container) - As noticeable in image 1-2, we can see the same container but with image 1 having a great graphical change. With this prop appearing in RDR already can we expect RDR2 to have the same idea with having them dotted about towns? (Disclaimer, I don't know what this container is used for/or contains)

2. (Ramp) - First of all lets compare image 1-2 again, from what I discovered in Armadillo there isnt any ramps used as a platform instead make shift stairs are used for platforms. Now comparing image 1-3, you can see here ramps are used in both for use of a platform. This making a connection to the "leaked" image and the RDR2 trailer of ramps appearing in both.

3. (Church) Image 1-2, I've seen people speculating that this town appearing in the "leaked" image is actually Armadillo. I can see why some people may assume this, but from looking at the construction on the church there is a huge difference. It's safe to say that the "leaked" image is not Armadillo even if the game is a prequel there are huge adjustments with the layout.

4. (Landscape) Again Image 1-2, to support what I mentioned previously the backdrop behind both buildings are completely different. Again definitely not Armadillo.

5. (Lights) With the lights in all images, lets start off with comparing Image 1-2. Both lamps/lights have completely different designs with Image 1 having a better structured glass sides then Image 2, but Image 1-3 show different lamp/light designs. After creating the image for 3 I did notice similar hanging lights underneath the signage for the general store which we could say look quite alike to the lamps/lights we see in Armadillo.

6. (Water tower) Focusing on Image 1, there is a water tower which we see a few on in Red Dead Redemption, I didn't have an image available to show to compare.

Overall there are connections with props/objects in all images that could reflect that this is a "leaked" image for Red Dead Redemption 2. Make what you want of this, I just wanted to show some points of interests I discovered.

I was mostly referring to the guy left of the cart and the guy walking across the street but that's a better observation than my own

Somebody did, it's not Armadillo nor is it RDR1.

Is David even the original source of the image? Because when you go to the direct link on imgur for the image he posted the title of the post is 'LEAKED RDR INGAME SCREENSHOT?' like it's a LegacyKillaHD video thumbnail... Shouldn't he know if it's a real leak and not question it?

Rockstar devs like to troll. Like the guy who leaked the submarine image of GTAV in 2013.

I just arrived home but was told about this, and holy guacamole at the attention it received. To me, this is not RDR2. Several aspects:

1. The grass in the ground is too basic for a Rockstar game. The RDR2 grass seen in the trailer is nowhere like this, and the excuse of "maybe it's an early screen" won't stick either because it's likely GTA V next-gen was based on an early RDR2 RAGE (given it started development before V NG, I'm assuming), which means that was probably already in place.

2. Shading is nothing like in the trailer, and no RAGE game is this shiny. Ambient Occlusion spots are also very washed out and don't look like they're processed by a RAGE game.

3. GTA V's shadows had more complexity than this. Look at the cart shadows and the character shadows, it looks like they're using the lowest Sharp shadow setting on GTA V PC.

To me it's fairly obvious this is likely not RDR. Yes, it's very detailed, but I'm assuming there's other wild west games out there, whether by indie studios or bigger studios. It looks more like Unreal Engine 4 to me. RDR2 will look *better* (yes) than this, I'm betting.

Re: Far Cry 5 leak. This looks like the first person mode in a Far Cry game. Far Cry's first person mode has this sort of Fish-Eye thing going on where everything directly in front of you is zoomed out, and the edges of the screen are sort of concaved. I wish I could explain it better. I've played a sh*tload of Far Cry and to me, this looks exactly like the way Ubisoft handles their first person FOV model. Just my 2 cents.

Far Cry 5 is NOT a western. It takes place in Montana. You play as a Cop against a Militia. It's Modern Day.

Good point/comparison with the ramp, i bet my left tit that this is real.

But i have some doubt now since David liked my laughing gif, so he could really be trolling ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yeah i had a feeling at first sight that it's fake. Even if it's a really early alpha build. We already have an example of an alpha build image. It was the one with the logo of Red Dead Redemption in the right corner. The person who made this did a great job though. Although the overall art style and atmosphere of this image looks nothing like what we saw in the RDR2 trailer.

This looks straight out of RAGE. And FC5 is set in present day Montana

Wait, really? This might be an elaborate hoax after all.... Thats a terrible way to give it away. He shouldve stayed gone so that we could discuss this more

Maybe it's the part of the map in Far Cry 5 with an Amish town or the Montana Militia is crazy hates modern day technology and wants to go back to the old days

It's ok man. I understand your pain. But we're fooling ourselves tbh. We'll get RDR2 news..... Sometime

Well, David was online reading this topic just a few minutes ago..

Spider-Vice

Let's just remember there's artists out there who do detailed 3D modelling and rendering, sometimes by themselves, Rockstar devs aren't the only in the world. :p

Welp. It was fun while it lasted. Any hope for tomorrow though?
