Wolf of Badenoch
Not all restored warbirds have a happy ending. Take G-ASKH, a De Havilland Mosquito (the last airworthy example at the time of her crash) which crashed at Barton, Manchester during an airshow on 27th July 1996, killing both crew members. Here's the incident in question (Contains some disturbing scenes):
Outcast
Too many incidents at airshows recently. Remember the Reno crash? That was pretty horrific and by far the worst air show crash in recent memory. In other news, I was delayed at the gate for two hours today due to Typhoon. Was stuck staring at this ANA plane. GTAfiveFAN
Do any of you sometimes look up to the skies when your outside and try to identify what planes you see and what carriers fly them? I recently looked up to see one of these. and it was low enough for me to clearly see which airline is was, its pretty rare for me to see one flying that low, so that was special for me
Outcast
I enjoy plane spotting. My apartment in London is right to the side of the flight path out of London City Airport and as I live on the 30th floor I have a pretty good view. I also bought a pair of binoculars to look at them as they fly past. Mostly smaller regional aircraft as the glide slope is pretty steep into LCY. Usually I see BAe 146s, ATR 42/72s, E190s, Dash 8s, Fokker 50s, and the like. I'm a big fan of United's new(ish) livery since the merger with Continental. I think it's absolute aces. It's nice to live close to a small airport but I think it'd be an absolute nightmare if I lived right under the flight path of Heathrow. I wouldn't be able to stand the noise all day and night. As much as I love planes, I do still need sleep. Being close to Philly you must see a lot of US Air aircraft right? I believe it's one of their major hubs? I've only really flown United in the States so I transit in Chicago O'Hare most of the time.

I've only really flown United in the States so I transit in Chicago O'Hare most of the time. Agreed, as much as I love airplanes, I would not want to live next to a major airport. And yes, Philly is a major U.S Airways hub, so that is the majority of the planes I see. My most memorable moment was only a few months ago and it was when I was going to a sports game in Philly and passing by the airport, a U.S Airways Dash-8 100 took off right over the highway. I was in awe, but no one in the car cared except me On another note, I live about 5 minutes away from a small public airport, and the runway is perpendicular to a road that I use to get to school, so I see many Cessna's and other small aircraft taking off and landing. It'd be nice to eventually own a small plane and keep it at this airport
Sup3rman
A few years ago i always plane spotted the planes flying over my countryside house. Used some random binoculars and tried to identify the mark and model.

Zyo
Me too! I love turbo props Nice. I love the sound of the turboprop. Great engines. A good friend of mine sctually flies one. Its a Saab 340 with the 1,400 KW GE motors. He does runs in the simulator regualrly and as the only place in Europe that has one in Stockholm Airport we usually meet up there and go out drinking in Stockholm afterwards. Good fun. Should be a trip in August in fact. Sup3rman
Ever saw anything interesting? Only a couple of 747s that to me that time were really awesome, because such huge airplanes rarely came to Estonia so even an overflight was cool. Recently i have seen also a couple of NATO fighters fly over, quite low even.
Outcast
I've just landed in Hong Kong. I just want to reiterate how much I love the Embraer E-Jets. Outcast
Yeah, can still be tiring though. I arrive London at 5:40am then I have a 9am meeting which gives me just enough time to get home, take a shower, and change. Then I gotta head out again. GTAfiveFAN
I remember not knowing that turboprops existed and watching landing videos, I was so confused when I saw planes with propellers and made jet engine sounds Now turboprop planes like the Dash 8/Q400 series are among my favorite, higher up than than CRJ's and ERJ's on my "list"

Ari Gold
I flew up to Sydney and back this week-end. Was quite exciting given that it was the first flight I had been on in at least five years. I also had the pleasure of flying on Outcast's favourite ever plane... the Boeing 737. This is the one I took while flying up to Sydney: @Plainspotting: Like GTAfivefan, I grew up very close to a suburban airport. Used to always see Cessnas fly over my childhood home after take-off and after landing. I always enjoyed going to the playground right next to the airport with my parents when I was a child so I could just stare at the airplanes taking off and landing (I wanted to be a pilot for most of my childhood). I occasionally return there after work to relax by myself in my car in the car park and have a cigarette or two; very peaceful and nostalgic place for me. There's a great plane-spotting place next to Melbourne International Airport; it's become so popular that they have a kebab van sometimes there. I live on the other side of the metropolitan area from the airport (at least an hour's drive), but if I had more time to kill I'd be over there more often. Here's the link to the street-view of the place. Link.

I haven't flown for years too, the last time I flew I was afraid of flying! I know I'll be flying next summer, and some serious flying too. I'll be taking British Airways from Philadelphia to London Heathrow then I'll hop on Lufthansa from London to Frankfort then later Frankfort to Athens. On the trip back it'll be Lufthansa to Frankfort then later to London, followed by U.S Airways to Charlette then later to Philadelphia, even though Philly is closer to London more flying for me, so I dont mind I cannot wait for this! Something I want to do when I get my drivers license, which is hopefully very soon, is drive up to Philly and spot, only because I've never officially gone plane spotting before EDIT: Don't want to double post I ordered a 1:400 model plane like a week ago and got it today, just to see that two of the three landing gears were detached, and I thought I would post my rant here... F*CKING USPS WHY THE HELL WHY DO YOU MAKE ME PAY SEVEN DOLLARS JUST TO RECEIVE MY MODEL LATE AND BROKEN. I KNEW PAYING $23 FOR THIS MODEL WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE On a serious note, do any of you collectors have any suggestions on how to glue the gears back to the model? GTAfiveFAN
Well there's been another plane accident Southwest Airlines Flight 345, a Boeing 737-700 experienced problems with the nose landing gear when landing at New York LaGuardia Airport. FAA says people are injured, but none life threatening, thankfully

GTAfiveFAN
I feel bad for Boeing, they have their hands full already handling lawsuits from the Asiana crash, and now this. Pilot error was the major cause of the Asiana crash, so the passengers suing Boeing are just trying to make as much money off an accident as possible, but in this Southwest crash, who knows, maybe the 737 had a faulty nose gear. Only time will tell Very strange, a lot of plane accident have happened recently...not saying its a conspiracy or something. Airline pilots are part of the Illuminati!
