Is grinding worth it vs Shark Cards?

I'll buy a shark card now and then, maybe a couple times a year. Never more than $20 worth at a time, though. It allows me to party hard even though I don't have the time to grind cash.

Never really thought about exchanging real money for fake money. And considering the bullsh*t exchange rate my country has, I'd prefer to stay it that way.

Would be cool if you could exchange the fake money to real money, though. Just put 'em in the Steam Wallet. But then again, scriptkids would be millionaires irl.

But "grinding" doesn't need to be boring. You just put on a movie or a podcast and start the game in a "solo" session just so you can do something with your hands.

I prefer stand-up specials running in a little window over the chatbox. That's where my focus is while I fill up the crate warehouse(s).

I like this guy. At least he's thinking of where the game is today and where it's going.

I accepted this is no longer a game, but a means to get a consumer to do repeat purchases. In short, it's about the money. The game is secondary and just a means to an end to get at your debit card.

And he's 100% correct, this macrotransaction model is going to be all over GTA VI and the content and franchise will suffer mightily for it. People can buy those cash cards, but every time you buy one, you encourage the development of this model further from a dev level and it's well on it's way to destroying a franchise. R* has mastered the console pay to play system and people are going along with it. Astounding. Expect more of this and PVP as it promotes R*'s interest (cheaply made content and discouraging people from managing their finances without cash card help).

It's rather tragic a AAA franchise is at this point.

When The Benz was fired, the heart and soul of the franchise died and it's AAA standard died.

And he doesn't mention anything about the garbage servers.

I dont think it matters to be honest. If you have fun, i.e. enjoy playing the game, however it is you fund your character, then its fine.

There will* always be positives and negatives to both sides of the fight. I personally have no stand on the issue.

For those who grind, you're missing out if you're not doing the pacific standard finale repeat trick, thats all I have to say. Beat the odds of the 200k/hr by a large margin with that.

What exactly is this repeat trick? Could use some money whatever way possible

Unless you're a clickbait youtuber, shark cards are way too expensive. Faster to grind then work a job to use that real money to buy shark cards.

That's just not true. For me to grind $GTA8 million, I would have to play about 20-24 hours, probably spread across two weekends - so about 9 days.

Conversely, I can immediately spend $100 bucks on a shark card to get the money within a few minutes and recoup the money by working at my job for a few hours. And have cash left over.

Takes me 8 hours to earn 8mil, considerably less with bonus events.

I'm playing the game while getting money in the game.

What the heck do ppl do to get that much money

I play GTA online for fun..It's called a game for a reason! :) I would NEVER buy a Shark card...I have no clue why people do, or why people get upset when they get killed or have their crate destroyed...but that's another story. Anyways, instead of spending money on Shark Cards I save to pay myself a vacation every year :)

I've yet to buy a cash card. Never will, either.

Even if it did save time, it would mean my money went towards Rockstar, which isn't happening until they sort some things out, change some priorities, etc.

U bought the game so

Basically you lag out of the game at a specific time so as to be able to re-host the finale (i.e. you will leave it incomplete) whereas the rest of your team gets to finish and collect their cut of the take; rinse and repeat for easy dosh.

I'll PM you the details to not derail the thread further.

There are many opinions about the many layered question the op asks. Basically it is about choices in use of time. use of money, and how much disposable money we may have. For me i have the time to play it like a job so i have never needed to purchase shark cards.

My only real gripe about Shark Cards is the exchange rate when considering the in game prices. 50 real dollars for 10 million instead of only 3.5 million in game would provide for fewer comparisons to blood sucking vampires.

I don't use shark cards. My wealth in game is self made.

same here, I dunno why I would ever, ever buy a shark card. The only reason for me to play gta5 is to either pvp in freeroam or to make money and buy sh*t and such. I already own pretty much everything I honestly want in the game, and I started in february. Im not much of a collector though. But if you have MC/CEO running, you make money so quickly its insane, lol.

Do it Pro style: waiting until a (legitimate) retailer has shark cards on discount, buy a $100 for $50, DON'T redeem the code right away, wait until Rockstar offer the 50% bonus money, redeem it at that time.

$50 = $12M

and if you're like me, Rockstar will screw up the bonus and Support will end up adding another $8M to it and the $50 will turn into $20M, which is a fairly reasonable exchange rate)

I resisted Shark cards for years till I finally bought one to get a Buzzard. (I might have avoided that, but the first time I had a lot of money without Shark cards, I made a lot of mistakes that made me poor and feeling dumb for a long time — purchased too many weapons even though I only use a couple, pushed the "purchase all ammo" button, etc.) It's so much easier to grind certain missions with a Buzzard. It's even easier if you have saved playlists of missions that help you grind in either a repetitive or varied progression.

So I think the best use for Shark Cards is to get something useful for making more money.

And try not to think about how much more content $20 bought when they were selling the DLC for GTA IV.

I buy sharks, and only when there's promotions like 40% off or extra GTA dollars.

I am not a grinder and I want to enjoy the game spending 30% of my time grieving -- which eats into my money instead

If I was a Youtuber I would dish out for shark cards too. For a Youtuber that money spent on shark cards has return on investment. It's a business cost that makes them money. For everyone else, you can either wait it out or pay for it, and that just depends on what you enjoy.

I'm a spreadsheet guy myself. I have a spreadsheet of my cars in this game and I have spreadsheets for lots of games.

But I don't do the math on GTA money because I have enough without worrying it. Yes I wait for discounts to buy things no matter how much I like it, and I will choose game modes based on their pay outs and double money events. But I enjoy doing it that way and so far just haven't had reason to buy shark cards.

If I did need shark cards, I'll take a break to think about, but I'm not against buying one.

Nothing against anyone who buys shark cards. If they have the cash completely up to them.

I bought the PS4 version in a game + megalodon bundle, it was on offer and cheaper than the game stand alone. So why not?

I wouldn't buy shark cards for a new car or a gold plane or anything like that, but if I'd not had chance to play much and a new DLC had released I'd probably be tempted to get the 1.25m or 3.5m one just for the business start up costs.

In my opinion we should enjoy the process of making money, i'm always confused when i had a lot of money and i had everything in my garage, the question that appears in my mind, what should i do next?! killing other players? that's not fun, racing? there's another game that suits best for racing, so i just keep resupplying the coke, doing heist with randoms, and racing occasionally, when we enjoy what we're doing in the game, it's like you never felt like grinding, you're just having fun...

Sneakerhead.

I am totally calm. Trolls try to rattle me daily. Once you are literally told to kill yourself one more child telling you that you are dumb with money really is minor. I am unphased one bit.

Dude I'm the guy who dupes millions of dollars worth of dupes then spends all the money on cool stuff and buys a shark card because I feel guilty (Just bought a $99 one last weekend because I was drunk and they offered a 40% rebate). And I got that promotion last year so money isn't that big a thing right now (I bought $200 worth of vinyl on Amazon the same night).

Poor people will always try to make you feel guilty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OT but this is very true lol I got out in public and someone asks why do you wear that or buy ex. A pair of Jordans every month? Because I can afford to without it putting a dent in my money.pachah1.png

On Topic - As I said before and as other's have said, it's easier and worth it in the longrun to either buy or get a modded account.

Because common sense will tell you that a $10 acc with $100B +LVL120+Max stats >>Is 500x better than a $100? sharkcard for only $10?Million.

But if you want to buy sharkcards and can afford it than personally I don't see why not. ld.png

if you get to much money you will get bored of gta online. so makeing it doing mission/ceo/mc club/ or heist is the way to go for me,

how quick you get bored is relative to what you enjoy doing in the game. I've only made 2 million since my character was reset with the last update and I honestly feel like there is nothing left for me to really buy having experienced it before prior and knowing most of it is not worth spending the money.

I can spend 8 million buying a yacht. But why when there is nothing unique and worthwhile about it? Hell, why even spend money buying a GTA house for 100k? Your character never gets smelly or tired, the TV is repetitive, clothes can be changed at stores, you can buy an actual 10 car garage for same amount of money, and drinking/smoking in the game is pointless. Everything a house offers can be done elsewhere or is pointless.

This redundancy theme is very common in Online.

I've played online since launch and made all my cash from all kinds of "grinds." I first gravitated towards racing which was very fun since people would race all vehicle types rather than just SUPERS. Than came the race nerf so I did nonstop COVETED. Heists came and went followed by CEO, Biker, and Vehicle warehouse. Current favorite is CEO warehouse.

Personally, these payout bonuses are great. Now if only R* would add race bonuses like 2x payout for racing SPORTS CLASSIC. That'd be beast.

Sorry but no, Shark Cards for this game are not worth, I mean have you seem the prices and how much it pays back?

Pay 100.00$(R$339,00) to get only 8,000,000GTA$?

For a noob player that could be OK because it can give you the cheapest options of the following:

-A high end apartment, which allows the player to play heists;

-CEO Office, which allows the player to play VIP work;

-Vehicle Warehouse, for I/E;

-Special Cargo Warehouse, for crate runs;

-Motorclub clubhouse, which allows the player to start MC contracts, if they have a friend.

What's left of the money can be used to buy a mid range supermarket like the Zentorno or Turismo R.

But for me? Who already owns all the stuff I want to? Meh, it's pointless.

I know this is just an autocomplete error so I'm not trying to single it out for ridicule or anything, but thinking about our GTAO characters using some leftover crime proceeds to open a nice little grocery store gave me a good chuckle :D

Cargobo heisting a shipment of premium Kobe beef from the docks, having gunfights interrupted by the produce manager calling to get a price check on papayas... it would be lovely!

If you make enough money in real life, buying shark cards can be smarter than wasting your time on grinding for gta online money. But no matter how much money I have in real life, I would never want to buy shark card after shark card because I hate Rockstar, they are a sh*tty company and I definitely would not want to support them in any way. I don't like supporting a game developer that doesn't give a flying sh*t about their playerbase and what they want. I would only buy a shark card if I really have to, like for example in the beginning when you don't have money then I would use that money to buy a business/warehouse and make money on my own instead of spending my real money.

It's up to your time and bank account to determine whether they're a good value or not, but their value has steadily declined as the game ages. Prices overall have gone up while earning money has gotten easier, so the hours saved grinding have gone way down by purchasing a card. Buying that adder took a lot more work than the re7b did.

Really the answer is neither, when you stop playing and start grinding, do something else, there are plenty of profitable activities to keep u occupied. If you'd rather pay for progress than play the game, maybe u need to play a different game or play this one differently.
