Is grinding worth it vs Shark Cards?

im a new player. im lucky that Ive plenty of disposable income.

Ive found that i'll play the game but being so late to the party, you really are like a small fish in a big pond. Heck, once I ran out of ammo and didn't have enough money to buy more. That was interesting.

I'd run around, find a baller and go sell it at LS customs. Great, 9K in my pocket which soon went on new ammo.

I think for some of the more established players, they may forget just how much of a slog it is to start with. sure, everyone was a noob at one point but not when the majority of players have been playing for a number of years.

So,ive done a mix of both. Ive used Cards to get funds to buy an office. I then do the daily grind of buying and selling. Its quite fun but not when youre 100K car gets blown up en route by a random.

Its like 2 steps forward, 1 step back for me.

I don't have any friends on PS4 as im a causal player with a young family and a work life and most crews want you to be dedicated with set times etc so I guess this limits what I can do to earn money in game

LOL at people that spend real money on in game items. Just when I thought human stupidity had a limit.

Judging by your post the sky is the limit.

You'd know all about that considering you set the bar.

There are plenty of active crews on GTAF, sign up with one, or two or even three. It will soon put you in touch with payers who cover all aspects of the game.

Drop by the Van Society thread and say hello, we have PS4 stuff going on all the time, there is also the recruitment, heists and car meet threads to get you in touch with players.

Once hooked up its your chice when you sign in whether you want to be sociable or just do your own thing.

One day you will have a job and hopefully a spouse and a mortgage if you want one. Then maybe at that point you won't let what some child on the internet who insults you affect your day one bit.

I recently made a 2nd account and bought a shark card. I regularly spend $75 when I go to the movies. I bought the CE version of this game. You may think me replying to you shows I am upset. Far from it. I find it humorous that you think your opinion of how I spend my money has any bearing on my decision making whatsoever.

In a world where micro transactions, digital music sales, movie streaming and downloaded games are multi billion dollar industries making an in game purchase is not pushing the limits of human stupidity.

Not knowing this however...

Sorry Raged, I ballsed up my quote train, then just deleted your section to make it easier. You did nail it though ;)

Lol. Such a boss. Spending a whole $75 at the movies and buying the CE of a game. Man, you're so cool. Definitely exhibit A at the Stupidity Museum.

I am totally calm. Trolls try to rattle me daily. Once you are literally told to kill yourself one more child telling you that you are dumb with money really is minor. I am unphased one bit.

Dude I'm the guy who dupes millions of dollars worth of dupes then spends all the money on cool stuff and buys a shark card because I feel guilty (Just bought a $99 one last weekend because I was drunk and they offered a 40% rebate). And I got that promotion last year so money isn't that big a thing right now (I bought $200 worth of vinyl on Amazon the same night).

Poor people will always try to make you feel guilty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stay on topic or get out of the topic. Quit with the bickering.

OT: I treat Shark Cards like a gift to myself. I bought a Megaladon card at Christmas since there was a 50% rebate and the card was on sale for $60.

I'd say $60 is worth 12 million, but outside of a deal like that, I wouldn't purchase a Shark Card.

I can't really call working CEO auto export grinding. It's milking a cash cow with a sale then doing something fun doing a source mission.

Grinding? LOL that's a thing of the past.

When updates are 4 months f*cking apart, not need to grind. Too bad for shark cards

Playing a measly 1 f*cking hour a day will relinquish your bank account.

bad business strategy on R* part I'd say

Indeed. Selling just two cars a day with I/E will already leave you with close to 20 million for the next update.

Your position is a mixed blessing. The game was never more fun then when you were penniless and trying to survive; so much was before you.

But the economy in today's GTA is not player friendly. I remember nights when I played late into the night and made $300-400K doing missions thinking, man, that was a huge pay day. That is chump change now and doesn't buy much.

"Grinding" in real life to buy fake money for a video game? If I work overtime to earn more money I would use it on anything else than buying money for a game. Just play the game and you'll get enough money to buy what you want, unless you have to buy absolutely everything that comes out..

I hate posts like this. Everyone's situation is different. Some have lots of discretionary income and little free time. For them, the money spent on entertainment that they enjoy makes sense. And instead of insulting those people, you should be grateful they exist, because we either would get no new stuff online or you would have to open your wallet and pay for it.

There is definitely some human stupidity on display here, but it isn't with buyers of SC.

Yes, if you play GTA for the fun of being "in" the game world and are not just trying to "beat" the game or other players.

pastime [pas-tahym] noun ~ something that serves to make time pass agreeably; a pleasant means of amusement, recreation, or sport: Playing Grand Theft Auto Online is a wonderful pastime.

Buying a bunch of shark cards or a modded account takes away the thrill of earning all the things your character accumulates, and will lead to the game becoming boring much sooner. Slow down and enjoy the ride.

Happy Hunter

I've yet to buy a cash card. Never will, either.

Even if it did save time, it would mean my money went towards Rockstar, which isn't happening until they sort some things out, change some priorities, etc.

A few years ago on the Xbox 360, before heists came out on GTA online,I had a large group of friends who were really excited to do missions to earn money to be able to buy what they wanted, cars, upgrades, property, clothes, guns, and build up a little money for whatever the next update held.I would grind playlists and level up and I had so many people wanting to play them , I had full parties with players waiting for others to leave so they could get in and grind too. THEN IT HAPPENED. Multiple car duplication glitches were discovered and players went crazy duping cars to keep and sell. Players soon had every car they could accommodate in their limited garage spaces and were banking lots of money from sales. Many players lost interest in grinding for money and rp.THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN.A modder came on the scene and dropped tons of money for many people I know , modded many of their levels made them obscenely rich. As soon as they had their artificially enhanced levels, hundreds of millions in the bank and everything they wanted, they quit playing and moved on to other games because they no longer had any reason to work towards achieving anything. My point is that having everything given to you kills your motivation to excel in life or in game. When you no longer have the desire to achieve anything, to accomplish something, then your potential has gone down the toilet. Working towards a realistic goal makes life worth living.

At this point in the life cycle of GTA Online, we must consider the massive uphill earning battle facing relatively new players who wish to own a decent amount of the content released over the past few years.

When $100 USD only buys you $8 million GTA$, you must spend a fortune and/or play activities that you don't necessarily like (but pay better) to afford to buy and enjoy expensive content like $3 million GTA$ vehicles...WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.

$8,000,000 GTA$ / $100 USD = $80,000 GTA$ per $1 USD.

US Federal Minimum Hourly Wage = $7.25 USD

$80,000 GTA$ x 7.25 = $580,000 per hour <--- what you would theoretically make for grinding in the game per hour if life were fair.

We do not know how much (if any) of the funding needed for updates is gained through shark card sales.

Even if shark cards are necessary, they could be a better value AND still fund the updates.

The in-game activities could pay more and the the items could cost less AND enough people would buy shark cards to fund the updates.

free updates that cost money one way or another, that patch money glitches but leave wall breaches open for years, top notch priorities from R*

What about neither of them? Don't be obsessed with money. I'd never buy a shark card anyways: i yet payed the game, f*ck off the micro-transitions system.

I f*cking hate grinding worse than anything. Especially MC and CEO stuff. It's the same five things over and over. We've all done them a thousand times by now.

At least with contact missions there is some variety and you can have fun actually playing rather than rockstars new style of play, which in volved driving long distances fifty times a session.

If they brought in new missions every month I would still be playing.

New missions every month. You serious bro?

I've said it before, I'd be happy to pay for mission packs to keep playing. Don't like the idea of just paying to get a shark card but I would happily pay for more gameplay.
