I imagine that one day GTA will have a crossover against another franchise that reaches its height, for you that another franchise should align to the storyline next to the history of GTA? GTA story and Fallout/The Witcher 3. Very different games, you protest. Obviously. But I'm talking about storytelling style. Not that the actual stories crossover but that GTA's story borrows from the storytelling of the games I mentioned. Side missions and random encounters have very changeable outcomes. Some times those outcomes aren't apparent until later on in the story.. but very later on. Also the ability to probe people you meet with different responses and questions which may make the person you are talking to react in a different way. Like Life Is Strange or any RPG, when you give make a decision it can really affect the outcome. I used to think I'd like a story that was defined one way but now I think I could appreciate branching storylines. Doesn't have to be the main story but in the side missions. I hope GTA V didn't kill the franchise. I hope it did. As GTA "progressed" it has lost its identity and become stale because Rockstar would rather yoga than Gouranga. BUT, given sales figures? It sure seems now all that matters is glossy looks and ironically be the try-too-hards they used to really make jabs at.
