One thing boggles my mind though. PS4 is supposedly region free. Which means it's cheaper for me to have it imported from the US than to buy it in EU. Why not simply price the console accordingly in the first place? Are they counting on many people not being aware of that?

US has NTSC and EU PAL. You cant play PAL Games on NTSC Console.

But if its region free doesn't that mean you can play games from Asia in NA and so on?

Sony is making my decision easier as is Microsoft. It's a bit of a landslide. I'm a fan of the Xbox and the Xbox will be a great console no doubt but MS seem to be shooting themselves in the foot.

 

I think I will eventually end up with both consoles but I'll definitely go with PS4 for the moment and when Xbox's price comes down, I'll buy one of them.

follow your advice. PAL and NTSC are standards and have nothing to do with region lock. you cant play NTSC games on PAL console at least on an SD TV. thats a simple fact

Different places are saying the PS4 will include Analog A/V out and some are saying it wont.

 

What is everyone's deal? I'm just gonna go with the fact that it will include Analog A/V. GameStop says it has it so it must be true.

With the difference in price you could probably get a nice 19in with HDMI ports.

I can't wait to play Watch Dogs, just got a 50 inch Toshiba LED 1080p. It's gonna be sweet!

 

Go for the 22 inch, it has full HD. The 19inch is only 720p.

So much free used games for PS4. Looks like XB1 and PS4 have the same thoughts. (X1 used games are up to the publisher also)

I think Xbox one will charge a fee no matter what. Sony as a publisher will not charge a fee ever, but they will leave that up to other publishers. Maybe this just means that online passes are staying? What a confusing mess greed has created.

If i remember correctly Activision and R* never used online passes. EA just ended their online pass system. From the conference, We know that sony's own internal studios won't use online passes. Now only publisher that uses online passes are Ubisoft and most of their game's muliplayer sucks anyway.

It clearly says they differ.

 

Publishers of PS4 games, then, can do what's already done on existing PlayStation software: Limit or lock content behind online passes or redemption codes (or opt out of restrictions altogether), which differs from Microsoft's limited licensing of Xbox One software.

PS4 won't pose any new retrictions. Online passes are nothing new. You can sell, lend and trade games however and whenever you want.

 

Edit: Sony just confirmed what I said. No new restrictions. Tretton was talking about online passes.

It's always the same. Everything is more expensive. But in the USA you still have to add VAT, so in the end the difference is less than it seems at first.

 

Also, one limiting factor are BluRay movies, unfortunately most of them are region locked, so it might not be worth it for many.

 

I honestly don't see any reason to complain about the price though, it's a fair price. In fact, for that price you get the better hardware for a cheaper price compared to the Xbox One (better APU, GDDR5).

Gaming and their focus customer centricity wise, yes. However Microsoft took a bold move and made was once was merely a gaming console into an entertainment hub, a product that's much more interesting for the majority of people (gaming community-excluded). As they don't have to be a gamer to find a use for it. Bigger market (which thanks to Sony they have a monopoly in now) = More sales.

Maybe the NFL fans will get a boner for Xboxone but I struggle to see where their huge market is unless they start listening and changing some stuff.

I don't like it but if it means I get a better online experience then I do with the PS3 then I'm all for it. At least I don't have to be online to play a game. You might need gold just to play Single Player for Xbox One. Also I like to give a friend my game to see if he likes it.

I think in terms of next gen only eclusivew MS has a slight edge with Forza, Ryse and Dead Rising. I would include KI but they're making you pay per fighter so yeah.

Didn't they have the edge when PS3 came out? PS3 got better exclusives in time which I feel PS4 will have too. The only game I wish I could get is Dead Rising 3 but that's still not enough to make me buy a useless console.

Yeah, we're gonna get a new Uncharted, some other perspective of Last of Us or even sequel,depending on how the game plays out, and then the expanded library with Gaikai.

I guess when it comes down to specific games we all have our own tastes, Their exclusives are nothing so amazing I couldnt live without. Especially when everything else is negative in such a vast way.
