Kinda mixed feeling on PS+. While it's a great service, it's mainly beneficial to those who have time to play all the extra games they offer you. Whereas I only play online a few times a month, but now it's gonna cost me.

also, this was pretty cheeky biggrin.gif : http://i.imgur.com/nu1pkLz.png

The fee is so miniscule, Its less then A mcdonalds meal or a 6 pack of beer lol. From what I read more then 1 person can use the connection?

Sony did well.. props.

Finally, a console that isn't overpriced. When PS3 and Xbox360 came out, the price was so high that you could build a gaming PC with that money and do 1000 more things with that PC.

I am very happy for Sony and PS4.

After 7-8 years, I might buy a console again. (without the eye camera of course, as I don't really care about this thing)

They are going to give free games on top of that as well, and not typical games but really good AAA titles. But I still wanted free PSN and PSN + could have been implemented at the same time like PS3 sad.gif

I think I am gonna grab the Eyetoy as well if they allow for a video in the corner of the screen when gaming. My best friend and only real gaming companion is moving the Australia this year so it would be nice to have a sort of skype thing going when we are gaming.

It's not that $60/month is an outrageous fee, but when you consider my use of the PSN network, which is limited to a very little only play, it does become rather significant.

Like you said, it's like buying a 6-pack of beer every month, except I only drink one of the beers...

but sh*t, I'm actually considering getting a year sub to PS+ tonight (it's currently discounted to $50/year), since there are a good number of titles in there i would receive right from the start (Uncharted 3, LBP2). and by this time next year, when i finally get around to purchasing a PS4, i'll just continue with the subscription for the purpose of online.

Sony won the console gaming 'war' by a landslide, but Microsoft is the more interesting product from a business point of view. Which will have the most sales, is still up in the air.

I dunno about that, the new Slender game looks pretty beautiful.

Even more amazing than anything else is Ryse IMO, it seems to be the perfect advanced next-gen game with just one drawback, it's an Xbox One exclusive but it's just one of the few good things that has happened to the Xbox One so far.

Gaming and their focus customer centricity wise, yes. However Microsoft took a bold move and made was once was merely a gaming console into an entertainment hub, a product that's much more interesting for the majority of people (gaming community-excluded). As they don't have to be a gamer to find a use for it. Bigger market (which thanks to Sony they have a monopoly in now) = More sales.

I'm willing to bet, the PS4 internet browser will be more than capable of streaming things from website properly unlike the god awful joke of a PS3 browser. So Xbox's focus on media to be honest is pointless.

This whole "pay to play online" thing, is it limited to playing online, or will it cost money to download patches/demos, use the browser etc etc?

It's only limited to MP. smile.gif

You wouldn't believe how relieved I am right now. I thought for a second I'd miss out on vital patches (such as the one that fixed Skyrim on PS3)

I can live without MP, and it's actually quite understandable why Sony want's more people to pay for online services. I'm with Sony all the way!

Not only existing media, but also new media. New shows and movies that are exclusive to xbox one. If they have a hit like HBO's Game of Thrones, they're pretty much set. Which gives them more wiggle room for development on that aspect and makes it more interesting for all kinds of industries. Xbox is going beyond just gaming+. On the flip side, if this blows up, xbox is pretty much done for. Something that isn't outside of the realm of possibilities.

I think it's safe to say Xbox's exclusive programming isn't going to be any where near as successful as they hope. I can tell you now, no one i know is going to watch them, or even know about them.

EDIT: And even if the programs do end up being very popular, they'll be a site where you can stream them for free on the internet anyway, so all PS4 needs is an internet browser.

Don't get how PS4 isn't focused on media. Do people realize that Sony entertainment is absolutely huge ? It might not have the cable function but who gives a flying f*ck about that ? PS4 is far more likely to get quality exclusive programming then the xbox.

Microsoft are so out of touch and deluded they have Spielberg working on Halo TV series. As an aspiring director I have a lot of respect for Spielberg but he's had his day, he is not fresh anymore and I defiantly wouldn't put him behind a TV series of Halo.

PlayStation already has Netflix, BBCiPlayer and whatnot. These are the main social stuff people expect in a console, not an utterly disgusting TV box squashed into a half 360 box.

I think just on my PS3 I have like 3 TV channels.

Also this TV thing isn't new...at all. You could use your Xbox as a Foxtel (PayTV) hub here in Australia.

Agreed, I already pay for Cable. All I have to do is press the AV button on my remote for my telly. In all the years I have owned both a PS3 and a 360. I have never used it for streaming or music, I only used it as a DVD player when I put films off my PC onto a USB stick due to the PS3's massive amount of video codecs. sh*t, netflix isn't even good outside of the US. I only used my consoles for playing games.

Indeed, Sony Entertainment/SPE is huge. They've really dropped the ball giving Microsoft basically a monopoly in that sense. And unlike Microsoft, Sony has proven itself to be a great with entertainment, so it feels outright out of place for them to-not jump on the bandwagon there.

Are you being sarcastic? There are literally zero things I couldn't do with my phone that's on the Xbox One (outside the games, ofc). And casual gamers don't watch E3. Casual gamers/parents care about one thing and one thing only: price. MS screwed up by including the kinect and ended up with a steeper price, which will surely make them lose many sales this holiday season when parents are looking for what to buy their kids.

What ball have they dropped? They are streets ahead in every way. I havent seen one forum where anyone thinks the xbox one is worth buying and after last night it got worse for MS. Sony doesnt need to big up its media crap because gaming is what matters with the console and they know thats what the majority of us were concerned about.

If the console is around for another 8 years, Sony can update the software to include these features, it's a gradual progression.

Don't forget that PS4 offers the ability to use Netflix, etc. without having to pay a monthly fee to access these features, unlike X1.

The big difference is how Microsoft is advertising their console, the average consumer might not understand the price points.

One thing boggles my mind though. PS4 is supposedly region free. Which means it's cheaper for me to have it imported from the US than to buy it in EU. Why not simply price the console accordingly in the first place? Are they counting on many people not being aware of that?

US has NTSC and EU PAL. You cant play PAL Games on NTSC Console.
