The new update has killed my PS4. All my games crash or freeze on starting and it's £120 to fix. Might as well wait for the new model now.

my several minute recordings captured after the update are all being cut down to the last 1-2 minutes

 

anybody got any idea wtf is going on?

Seems pretty straight forward. Mine's always seemed to maintain a piece of reserved real estate, I assumed it was system requirements for swap or something but maybe there's a game or application that requires so much free space.

I'm just about to crack 1 TB, I guess I have 1 TB remaining. Its all good here. So glad I didn't jump for just the 1 TB.

I think if you go within the last 50GB the PS4 as it would not let me install the recent update file for Elder Scrolls Online because it would have gone under 50GB (update was only 7GB) so

you'll have to delete a game or application/copy videos off the PS4 so that you have space again as I copied all my videos off and since then have been recording video as normal.

Probably a buffer to prevent hard drive problems. 10% of the hard drive should be empty for defrag and to avoid performance problems.

I cleared over 1gb of capture gallery footage so I could capture a quick video and it still only captures the last 3 minutes (this is happening only with BO3) I can capture multiple 15 minute gameplays on GTA. Also no space requirements explain why my last BO3 videos were seemingly trimmed by the PS4 itself without me doing anything.

I've 1.5tb filled of my 2TB but that's the most I would like full as I think the PS4 can't really handle it properly, and as Hornedturtle said as a buffer, maybe why we only have an official 1TB and not an official 2tb PS4. Because I don't think Sony have ever officially said a 2tb is compatible, of course we know it works I using one myself, but maybe they know there may be a few problems so they don't advertise that you can put in a 2TB.

 

Nothing big but I am constantly having problems with the web browser, I am emptying the cache, data etc all the time when it refuses to work. but I don't expect much from the browser of course. I refuse to use the youtube app because you can't read comments etc. on it so I use the browser which constantly let's me know (nags me) I should use the PS4 youtube app, which I'm sure works fine (used it on PS3, and PS4) but I like to read the comments and ratings etc, maybe visit here while listening to music from youtube.

 

@CrysisAverted - Does BO3 limit any footage recorded such as not allowing cut scenes to be recorded etc.? or is there something blocking the footage in some way? maybe when it takes a screenshot for a trophy I think it might reset the video recording. Or maybe voices not being allowed to be shared (I'm just thinking of ideas, I never played COD on ps4) The automatic trimming you explained kind of reminds me of PSN msgs that after a while just dissapear from the system.

 

I know it's probably a tiny amount of space but I want to delete the "error history", if you have a few network errors a day everyday for a year that adds up to nearly a thousand error history logs...anyone know if these tiny files would add up to much? sometimes I've got ten in one day.

 

I really just wish we had a C Cleaner type app for PS4.

It really shouldn't, they were originally captured in-game and then I found them trimmed later on, tried recording them from theater like I have done so before many times and it seems to be overwriting any data it gets until the last 2-3 minutes now.

This has been a recurring story over at Sony, and I can remember about some time last year telling everyone to remove their credit cards from their PS wallets. As the article suggests, you would think Sony would have learned their lesson after the bad publicity of similar incidents, but seems they haven't.

 

Apparently, someone over at DigitalTrends had their account hacked. Prior to speaking with Sony, he canceled payment on the fraudulent purchases. When finally speaking with Sony, they were able to recover his account, but said they wouldn't be able to refund the purchases because payment had been cancelled. This prompts him to go back to PayPal, the payment provider, and cancel the cancellation. When he goes back to Sony to discuss the matter, he receives an automated message telling him he owes the amount paid, or they will lock the account otherwise.

 

Sony security is just abysmal. Never trust them with any sensitive data. Ever. So just a reminder, guys, please be sure to check your accounts and remove any payment options until Sony has shown some record of being helpful in these circumstances.

That's why I'm so against PS+ subscription. That 50 bucks a year burnt for nothing. All I got is a privilege that used to be, logically, and usually free, an unreliable, expensive, limited, and replaceable online storage, and bunch of rubbish rentals being called "FREE".

The worst part of it all is that they actually know about the incident and literally tell you to file a claim with the bank and then get back to them; which causes them to lock your account no matter what. It's disgusting, but thankfully I've never had to do it again so far.

This is why i never attach my bank card to accounts, I just buy wallet cards for the price needed

I would. Microsoft is actually pretty close to convincing me to switch platforms - if Rockstar's games from the previous generation become available on XB1, I most likely will.

This is bullsh*t. Now devs can struggle even more now with having to raise the bar for PS4.5 and give just plain old PS4 the leftovers.

 

Sony's greed is really showing now.

 

X1 will be next.

 

One thing I have learned in the last couple of years. IGN will not post articles like this unless there was some truth to it. Thats the only reason I think this will be a go. I know its IGN, but they won't go near anything now unless there is truth there and not just speculation and rumor. Let the real console wars begin. But now it will be civil war.

From what I can tell it's supposed to boot the resolution for the 4k TV's. If SONY's greedy then it's to sell more TV's. They seem to be going out of their way to keep the 4 and NEO relatively close with regards to games. Might there be some decreased loading times or better draw distance? Sure, but I don't think it's going to effect the vanilla 4 users any. More on the order of a mid-life refresh. I see no problems here.

If we wana go that route with PS4.5 and get it, what do I do with my PS4? I guess I wait to see what a retailer will take trade for. Will my 2 TB HDD work in the new machine or will the new machine have just as much memory? I'm guessing all my saves will just carry over. I'm not gona buy a 4K TV if games won't be there. I'm not going VR either, so of course I'm gonna want the best PS4 and X1 for that matter have to offer. Is the difference between the two consoles 60 fps for some games to 30 fps, 900p to 1080p? Smooth framerates to poor at times on the other? Have console upgrades in the past have visual differences? Not to mention all I'm seeing right now is dollar signs and splitting the base up.

 

All questions I guess that will be answered in some time. But now I'm wondering what the X1 is gonna do now if anything.

PS4 will still get the same games like the Neo does, so nothing really changes. If people were okay with PC games looking better and performing better than consoles, then they should be okay with having another console performing better. It's the same thing.

 

As long as there are no exclusives for the Neo I don't see the downside to this.

I read over on GTPlanet that developers are not allowed to make exlcusive perks for NEO owners or content specific for that console, it will also have to play with PS4 players

and not separate the gamers who have the NEO console.

Dev make like 4 graphical presets for PC version. So I don't see why they can't make a couple of auto-preset for PS4 and PS4.5.

I'm having the same thoughts, my PS4 makes some funny noises at times and if it does decide to fall over a PS4.5 seems a logical move, but I would want to keep my 2tb HDD for now.

That still doubles the testing time to make sure everything looks as good as possible while also running smooth on both the PS4 and the PS4.5.

I will dish out the $500 its going to cost in all. $399 for console, $60-$65 for additional two year warranty. Taxes. Probably $500. Now I just need to figure out if I need to buy another HDD or if I can use the 2TB HDD I have currently in the PS4. I will see what they will take for trade at a retailer, but I may end up giving it to my son. Yes, I'm mad about dishing out another $500.

Why in the console world would I wana settle for second tier anything. Thats why I bought a PS4 after I bought X1 in the first place.

I'd be pretty pissed off if Sony do bring out a new console in the next year or so. You expect with consoles to at least get five years before you even have to think about buying a new one. If this becomes the new console life cycle I may aswell switch to pc
