How do I create a GTA race?

I've made a few races using creator. But when it comes to a gta race, during testing I can't get my guy to step out of the vehicle.

 

I've seen races where people have to get out and climb over things and run to another check point. But how are these races created when so far I can't get my guy out of the vehicle?

 

Any help appreciated guys.

You said it yourself: during testing you can't. As an actual race it'll work fine.
