Mister Pink
So Frankie is in debt to the mob, Vince went to the mob to work it out, Vince and his brother in law worked out a deal with Rudy which involved the construction site payroll, which the brother in law has access to. I'm not really sure what this deal means and how it works? one of the reasons the mafia uses the construction racket for, is no show jobs. with the brother in law over seeing payroll. I imagine the way they will pay the debt back is putting a couple of Rudy's guy on the construction payroll Also a bit like when you did see them show up for the job in The Sopranos except they just sat there getting tans all day and eating food. I had the same question too. The money they're making from the racket is decent. Was it that they take a cut from everyone's pay? But instead of giving the employees cheques, they cash them for them (they have no choice) but charge the a percentage for the service. Might look good for the mob to lodge them through a business front and their dirty money might look legit and clean. Although wouldn't they have to pay tax through the front? Would love to know if someone knows that scam well. @Spaghetti Cat: Yeah man, was saying that for years or even late 70s/early 80's when Hip Hop was being born and was still a hell-hole crime-ridden kip of a . Thats why I was kind of disappointed that Rockstar set IV in modern times. Seemed like a real missed opportunity. The Time Ranger
Taking a cut from their pay was my initial thought, the fact that the foreman had to explain the builders earnings and deductions to him suggested that. I'm telling you I will never look at soup in the same light again lol. That was rank. I was checking out the cast on imdb, the actress who plays Abby is 37. She could easily pass for 20. She's only two years younger than Maggie Gyllenhall. Mister Pink
Banana
Thanks for posting this; I've been looking for a new show to watch. I liked the first two seasons of The Wire but never got around to watching the rest. Once the high of the season 2 finale wore off I found it difficult to get into the 3rd season and just stopped. I'll probably finish it one day, but for now I think it's time to reboot my HBO subscription and watch The Deuce. The Time Ranger
So I finished series one. The good news is it has been renewed for a second series. It's a great show which i'd definately recommend. The story, acting, and atmosphere are all great. It really feels like a snapshot of this specific era and place. The Time Ranger
There is an interesting interview here with the creators of The Deuce. There is spoilers for the series finale so fair warning. http://uproxx.com/sepinwall/the-deuce-recap-my-name-is-ruby-review-spoilers-season-finale-david-simon-george-pelecanos-interview/ I think the most interesting piece of information is that the second season will be set in the late 70's and the third and final season will be set in the early to mid 80's.
