Should Weather conditions have a purpose?

The weather system would be good, but not the sickness thing. We want GTA, not a life simulator

I'd actually be fine with certain crimes sending the player to prison or jail for about 10-15 minutes of game time in GTA online, because not only would it open up another interior that the game needs more of, but it could also give players rewards for breaking out, serving their time legitimately, and helping somebody else escape. There could be all types of ways to break out that would make those situations very fun imo.

Anyway getting back to the weather conditions I still stand by wanting coughing/sneezing sickness in the game if someone decides to go out during a storm in nothing but their underwear, shorts or pants for long periods of time. I'm completely aware that the game has never been 100% realistic, never said otherwise but the game does have a mix of that realism alongside the goofiness that makes it Grand Theft Auto.

So Rockstar could easily make vitamins available for purchase either in the convenient stores that we already have, or/and they could also open up even more interiors such as the health centers that are scattered around different parts of the map. Then that sickness would go away by popping one of those in your mouth just as fast as our health bars go up when we have a sip of soda or a bite of a candy bar.

Not having any type of snack n your interactive menu is a consequence you take in the midst of any battle, heist, contact mission etc. and so could this if you run around like that without anything to heal yourself. You'd have to go to one of these places and take care of it or just deal with it.

Well it wouldn't bother me but you're entitled to your opinion. GTA has been looking to make it's games a step more in the direction of realism in it's last 2 installments so I'd think something like this would fit right in and I'd like to see it.

Imo every decision you make in the game should come with some kind of a consequence when you make the wrong call, not only related to the weather in the game but in many other areas of it too.

It's been going for more realism in the setting. But I mean, how is it realistic that the player characters can all fit every gun in the game in their pocket? How are the special abilities realistic?

Furthermore, the point of GTA is not getting punished for your choices. This is why you don't have to spend 2 weeks in the hospital in real time every time you get wasted, or 5 years or more real time in jail when you get busted. GTA is a game one plays specifically for the lack of consequences it has. And punishing someone for being under-dressed in cold weather with sickness is just annoying. It would negate a lot of the fun customization of the outfits in the game by making you sick for wearing the wrong ones at the wrong time. That's not fun. I don't want to have to go dress in a coat every time it looks like it's gonna rain. We have real life for that tedious bullsh*t.

Realism is not a good excuse to me. GTA is not a simulator, nor has it ever been. While there are realistic elements, there's also lots of stuff you can do that you would never be able to do in real life, and that's what makes it great.

I think we can conclude all this as his own personal concept of a GTA game in terms of realism. It's just an idea. I also however agree with what you just wrote as far as practicality is concerned.

basically I'm a diplomatic twat <3

Well, I do think it's an interesting idea, I just don't think it would work in GTA. If there were a game in an urban setting with sims style motives and GTA style free roam for instance, it would work perfectly in that game.

It's still just an idea was my point. An idea which, like you even I don't find practical for this particular series. Hence my OP.

Suppose you are on a very aggravating mission that you've been stuck on since a few days and when you finally are close to completing it, you die because you didn't cater for common cold. That doesn't sound very GTA to me if you want my two cents.

Then all you'd have to do is exit the mission and go get those pills before going back and doing everything you did right up to that point and you shouldn't have that problem anymore. As I said before it's no different then the soda and candy filling your health bars after you've been shot. Anyway if you don't want to see it in the game it is what it is. I'm just stating why I want to see it.

I understand your point about you just stating an opinion. You never know, something may even come out of this debate. My only concern about this is the fact that at what point does realism become an obnoxious necessity in the series? I personally never really used candy bars during a fight. My focus is always on the "Shoot & Cover" policy. Which reminds me, even candy eating for health regeneration isn't a realistic idea by a long shot but it still exists as a means to counter loss of health, in the most unrealistic way. However asking for sickness to be present in the game, that actually does the opposite of candy eating in game and the only way to fix it would be popping those pills you mentioned. So my question is, why even harbor such a tedious pill popping process in an already difficult mission? Suppose it started raining and I get a relapse in between the mission? Or some NPC sneezed his sh*t all over my face before the mission? Should I care more about how I plan to complete the mission or should I go see a local chemist? It's like giving the protagonist(s) of a GTA game an option to choose which toothbrush they would like to brush their teeth with in the morning. I mean this isn't the game Heavy Rain we are talking about. Other than that, as I said, you are entitled to your opinion just like everyone else.

i do want realism in weather, but since it's R* they'll overdo it again since they seem to have found a nack for prematurely ejaculating sh*t

would love a decent amount of realism with the character covering his eyes etc. if near a dust storm or trying to shield from rain ( kinda like in 4 )
