Buzzard is no longer locking on to player vehicles?

This began yesterday for me. Homing missiles will only lock onto cops/AI. Tried restarting, problem persists. Is this a glitch or did R* gimp the buzzard without telling us?

Two questions:

 

1. Player personal vehicles in free roam?

2. Vehicle cargo mission cars being driven by other players?

 

If number one then missiles should lock as normal unless the players vehicle is passive (which does not always show)

 

If number two then missile lock is disabled to give the player a chance to defend themselves against the helicopter.

Sorry, should have been more specific: Player personal vehicles in free roam. I usually go bounty hunting with my buzzard while waiting out my cooldown times & the past two days my buzzard refuses to lock onto any player vehicles, bounty or not.

Check targeting priority in the Interactive menu ;)

Also check your aim settings. If you join a friends game and he has different settings...yours can change. If that's the case you need to alter them to your preference in STORY mode...then go back into online.

This is odd. It locks onto the player in a car, but the tracking is f*cked and every missile misses, even when they're slow or stationary; it had no problem locking onto the cops when they turned up to inspect the explosions.

The buzzard has always been weak at tracking ground targets on this gen and last gen. Intial target lock is ok and stationary or very slow moving targets are easy hits. However any target moving fast, running humans included, simply are tracked poorly which causes misses.

Seemed to work fine for me last night on PC, mind you that Infernus Classic was just sitting there stationary... the driver was probably browsing through their mod menu and didn't have time to activate their invincibility.

Thanks...this seems to have fixed it, although I'm a bit confused because I haven't altered those settings recently.

The buzzard has always been weak at tracking ground targets on this gen and last gen. Intial target lock is ok and stationary or very slow moving targets are easy hits. However any target moving fast, running humans included, simply are tracked poorly which causes misses.

There is a very specific reason as to why that happens that not many players know:

 

The missiles, when fired from high up in the sky, will come at angles towards the targets that are too great and because of that, it will hit the ground.

 

You will have less issues hitting your targets by making sure to fire at a lower altitude, so the missiles will fire in a mostly straight line.

I love bounty-hunting but in a Lobby where I destroy bounties I would never go for anything else, dome people can spend more than 1h for the right time to get a revenge, when you are busy on a sale after that cool-down

 

Yesterday I could not lock on a bounty driving a Bickade, but guess it was a sale run, cause they did not fight back and just tried to drive avoiding my freeaim missiles - I never attack cargo but it was only showing bounty sign on map

 

You should try the Akula - Fly high above the clouds and all the city mess, in stealth and when a bounty comes up, just dive like a hawk, brake a bit sooner than on Buuzard, position low, right behind that bounty, and quickly release the stealth, hear the lock-in and plunge into an insane succession of spammed locked hell

 

Than turn quick to safety and engage stealth again and wait high up above the clouds for the next little bounty
