Are accounts with the names along the lines of Il|||Illllll the new breed of tryhard players? I frequently come across accounts like this and wondered what was up with the name even fought against some of them and usually won if it was ground fighting. I thought it was always the same person until i started noticing the differences in the names in terms of variety. Ive always seen them usually stuck in a jet getting kills and when i check their kd theyre over 8, even the last guy i saw get shot down after griefing a lobby kept going pasive after he was finally respawned.

 

 

Are these the new type of tryhards we get to look forward to?

I see these try hard idiots all the time. 4 or 5 in a session yesterday. All of them had the same crew tags....in English.....with crew name in......English.

 

One was a level 7 in a jet. Had a 6KD that was steadily rising with every new kill. Scum bag pieces of excrement.

It's a thing that comes from games like League of Legends, it's mainly used by high skilled players and they use names like that to hide their identity, here's this definition that goes into much detail that I got from Urban Dictionary since I'm too lazy to clealy explain it myself:

 

Bar code

A term used to refer to a player in League of Legends whose name resembles the design of a barcode (e.g, IlIIIIIIlIlIIlI). These names contain a series of random I's and l's, and are used to mask the identity of the player, thanks to the fonts used in the game, where the I's and l's are nearly impossible to distinguish from each other. Barcodes are usually exceptionally skilled players, and climb the ranks of the game fairly quickly. In addition, most barcodes play on a region which they usually do not play on. This happens when they are preparing for a major tournament. For example, a person who plays on the Korean server may create a barcode account on the North American server in order to be able to adapt to the differing playstyles before they enter a tournament against the North American teams.

i'm necromancing this thread since today i ran into of those barcode players (whom i think might have been cheating).

i seen on the kill feed he kept fight other players and i even sent a mugger after him, later on i sent merryweather mercs after him and watched him from my apartment garage tv when suddenly i was outside my apartment and i'm on xbox one s.

2. They think it looks cool.

3. They want to be recognized as a tryhard.

 

Now, I find no reason to be scared of these people. Not that you should waste your time with them anyways. If you're not up for dirty PvP.

Geeze what a well though out and detailed rebuttal o prove me wrong, While What I’ve said has been seen and on going since GTAV was released on PC since you play on PS4 you don’t know what is seen on PC let me put it in a way you might understand

 

The chat is in squares because *your* copy of the game doesn't recognize the unique characters. Any unique characters such as Cyrilic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and even Nordic characters will be boxed out because the game isn't using a "language pack". Change the games language into English or the specific language that you want to read in the chat.

I doubt these barcodes are japanese, russian or chinese players. They are modded accounts nothing else. They play like tryhards, have a modded high KD and rank and only a few GTA V trophies.

 

And there are the PSN code players with names like A1B2-CD3E-45FG. I see them from time to time. But the last one has displayed german and english as language.

Why would it replace unknown characters with lower case L's and capital I's rather than just being blank?

that "most helpful" answer is bullsh*t. you can't use russian, asian or any other characters in your name. you can only use the normal latin ones. the only way someone would be able to have russian characters in their name is through the usage of trainers, and even then they don't show up as boxes. only asian characters are not supported.

those people simply used lowercase ls and uppercase is. it's as simple as that.

They're basically tryhards who've created new characters so they can start fresh with their K/D, since their original characters have too many deaths. They use name themselves barcodes as a way to look cool and remain anonymous.

5 Barcodes, all part of the tryhard c*nt crew I33I and part of the same MC. 3 were in jets, 1 was in an Akula, the other in an Oppressor just going through the session killing every single person. I managed to take out one of their jets, but the guy EWO'd and next thing I knew all 5 of them were spawn killing me, so I left the session.
