judging people on their crew

But, I will make an effort to convince the otherwise cunning forum-goers that I'm not just posting this for likes or views...

That's what the kids are calling it nowadays, right...?

 

Clothes, cars, outward appearances... It's all well and fine.

But awhile back I noticed that I started to judge people more on the crews they were in rather than their level.

It started with a casual glance at the tag by their name. When you can't tell the intentions of a level 214, peeping their crew could sometimes offer valuable information on what kind if person they may be.

Sometimes, the analysis would extend to their crew emblem if the name was too vague.

 

It actually ended up being a lot easier to gauge people when you look at what crew they choose to represent.

 

Most often...

...anyone in the "IGN" crew was a massive c*nt.

Don't know why.

It might have been (a rather often) isolated incident.

Maybe I'm wrong.

But honestly.

I haven't met a single player who toted the IGN tag who wasn't a psycho that blindly chased free-mode kills.

 

The typical...

..."Dark" and "Edgy" crews that advertised "Mercenaries" and "Assassins" would always be good for a laugh.

Namely the ones with a completely uncharacteristic emblem, often being represented by green-haired almost-nude tattoo-clad characters who favor maxing their appearance sliders in one direction only.

Although...

...ones who actually took it seriously and worked up some sort of basic-yet-appealing emblem with your usual armored outfit, or big black overcoat...

 

...aren't always terrible people.

Strange, I know. Guess they just find more appeal in putting on an act rather than slaying anything in their view range.

 

In fact...

The more intricately done crews, namely emblems, that look like they weren't just copied using a custom editor seemed to represent more sportsmanlike people.

Ones who, while not necessary peaceful, actually hold some sort of loose code-of-honor that restrict them from going "full-tryhard."

 

And of course...

...the crews proudly advertising drugs, nazi-ism, genocide, etcetera queue you in real fast on what kind of player you're dealing with.

Or, rather, don't want to deal with at all...

 

I could honestly go on for days.

But I won't.

Rather, I'm curious what other people have witnessed.

Second, I dont pay attention and or care what crews people are with, that just really seems like a massive waste of time, unless they are with the IGN crew

Haha during PS3 days my wife joined Ign and the MP3 crews because of the sheer numbers allowed in those crews and she wanted to be able to invite as many heads as possible for missions, deathmatches etc.

 

Me and Wifey found out how sh*t these 2 crews are very quickly as we never met anyone in both crews that didn't try to kill her girl on site.....every time.

 

Say what u want about "drug crews" but I've been with the Ganja Outlaws for 3 years and it's great. Very active crew leadership, There is no crew killing ever, and when u see crew members u don't know in a session u know u have a friend if u need help with anything.

The IGN crew is the worst. I had nothing but trouble with them.

 

There's another crew I avoid like the plague. I don't know the crew's name, but they use ARAB for the banner next to their PS\X1 names the crew tag. Their behaver is bad (although not as bad as IGN) & always spam me with crew invites*

 

 

 

* It gotten so bad with the crew invites, I started my own crew after 3 years of resisting that just to make them stop sending me invites.

 

 

 

Then there's the MrBoss crew ... #SayNoMore.

I'm leaning more towards won't-attack-until-provoked and easygoing.

That and the cartoon is that of a cougar/puma/leopard/mountain lion.

I sometimes judge people on what their crew tag or emblem is, I think though I more judge certain crews from experiences I've had with members of those crews. I find that with smaller crews the players often share similar values or play styles so I tend to group them all together.

I don't really care about other players crews. Yeah players in IGN, MP3 and other big 3 character crews are usually d*icks but 99% of the time I'm in friendly crew sessions so it doesn't matter to me.

 

On the rare occasion I'm in a public lobby I'll actively hunt any BOSS tags just for sport. One day I hope I get lucky and get to introduce MrBoss to my heavy sniper and Savage.

I joined a few crews just to use the emblem. GTR, Honda, Toyota, Ferrari etc.

 

And yeah people judge.. 2 days ago I was doing a mission with some random players, one guy had his mic on and I heard somebody in the background say "f*ck that guy" (me) ..and when the player asked him why, he said the crew name. Smh -_-

The other crew I used to be in is terrible at pvp. I love running across them but it's rare because they are cowards. I made my own crew since. Now I answer to no one.

I can't swear to it but a few weeks ago someone was yelling at me over the mic that I was only getting kills because I was OTR. I wasn't. They weren't aware the game had a hud. I think it was IGN. MP3 crew isn't much better.

The average crews I see in a lobby at any given time:

 

IGN crew - need I say more?

 

The random 5 or 10 person crews dedicated to griefing lobbies? They are my favorite targets

 

The modder/cheater crews - report every member in it and find a new lobby, or taunt them into thinking they are amateurs so I can record alll the evidence to send to R* support

 

The edgy dark badass dead crews where only one or two people are active that are all about being "evil" or the "satan" or some psychopathic murderer they wish they could be in RL..

 

Every once in a while you see the ultra-nationalist infamous "CHINESE ARMY / PLA/ SPECIAL FORCES CHINA" crews - I love poking fun at them and calling them Chi-comms or some derogatory racist remark. They all deserve to get trolled.

 

Anyway thats my opinion.

TL:DR...I judge based on behaviour first.

 

Anyhow, I rarely judge based on crews, I have only tried dipping my toes in to all that once or twice, personally, it just didn't work out, But I don't judge per say... I fully respect and appreciate it when someone does find the right fit, the game opens up more for teams to flourish, grief is easier to avoid, and the car colours are a cool thing many enjoy... I get it, just not for me... I prefer to play at my pace, and prefer to control the issues that can come from the more open crews etc. After too much bad, I gave it up... The good thing about this game, no matter how I play, there are like-minded guys/gals out there, just gotta sieve through much sh*t... But, to me, an underused part of GTA by me...

 

I joined IGN, did a on call job, got my trophy, and promptly left! Full of modded accounts too, I'd never consider a large, open crew, if I did go into crews again. The one I did join other than the trophy hunt one, was just a small crew... I left soon.

 

I was attacked by someone from the outer group that hung with us, and wouldn't accept that. nor did I accept being milked for my 3 years of knowledge for some noobs to plan to drop me asap after heisting... I do judge those guys, not the crew thing, just them personally. They belittled the situation, even got others I never joined to add in and caused me to overreact in a bad way, making things much worse, calling out my children (on this site in public) and stirring the pot, (I accepted many times my faults with my reaction, deal with it) and the few that went silent on me, well, no respect, your silence was CONDONEMENT of this all, f*ck that, there was a snake, I'm not doing names, he knows who it was, and since then, my trust for most anyone in this game had diminished...

 

Flat out rejected some forum users here trying to add me since too, a harsh judgment on my part, I fully accept, but after that sh*t, I wanted time away, been lone wolf since, though...

 

I'm slowly allowing myself to add people, I want to, but it's hard to, as I will not tolerate these things, no-one should to be fair, always happy to help, never look for a cheap shot either, but I won't be taken the piss out of. Just yesterday, I helped a new buddy sell his cargo, he shot me 3 times after the job as a thank you while I went to make coffee, (my son noticed, and dropped me to story, thankfully) some people just can't resist it, these players soon go, I want patient players, respectful players, not weasels looking to score anytime I'm not looking, weak bitches!...

 

I wholeheartedly agree that crews/friends etc. IS the best way to play this game, the party chat feature on PS4 is awesome, even solo, to not have to listen to the idiots in freeroam, and not have to spend time muting it all... And, of course, we as crews/groups can communicate tactics without the others hearing, IMO, a major flaw on old gen DM's etc. Really annoyed me that when on mic, the opponents could hear us, lol...

 

That said, if I join a competitive job, say a race, and it's me vs. 3 or 4 crewmates... I'm getting the f*ck out!!!

 

These types really grind my gears, they will race hard while I'm chasing, but the second I pass them, they kick me... Too many times, forget it... Pussies!

 

That leaves a bad taste for sure, to know I owned them c*nts, to get booted is just such a pathetic response man...
