Do you want Rockstar to add Aircraft Carrier to Freemode ?

This is the one item I most want (and if I got that, I would be satisfied if I never got anything else).

I envision it this way: put it out in the water as far as you can. You could spawn all of your Pegasus vehicles on it. The balance would be how long it takes you to fly it back in. I would have a missile system installed like the one that exists for the yachts. Price tag, $20 million.

Reasons why it might happen: Already created as part of the Heist update. Rock Star would make a killing off this.

Reasons it might not: I am not a computer programming guy, but the code is starting to get large and buggy--we see all kinds of issues in game play now. I have to wonder if adding something like this to the game continues to make the game more unstable. There could be issues with the number of AC on each board. And of course, the odds are long against any one particular item ever being added.

So what do you think? And do you want it? I am hoping this provokes a good discussion and not just complaints about military hardware or jets, but all comments are welcome. What I suggest means the balance should not change much, even it you think parts of the game are unbalanced as is, and each person can still only be in one vehicle at time anyway.

Reasonable response: I do want to own my own, but that is because there isn't much more I want in the game, and this would be something radically different.

There are so many possibilities for an aircraft carrier and it's already been used in heists and adversary modes, so it's definitely possible, and it would give the jet griefers a nice little place to call home (and away from my collection of post-op vans and trash trucks )..

 

Will it be added though? No idea. Will it become another North Yankton permanently out of our reach? Let's hope not.

Id like it in the game too, but I agree with the previous posters it shouldn't be purchasable, or friendly if it got involved with gunrunning. It would be sweet as an extension of zancudo though, maybe some VIP work where u have to steal something from it or blow something up. Honestly I just want to fight it.

The possibility to buy an aircraft carrier, could potentially mean we could FINALLY perhaps buy the Lazer in the game... I've been practising my landing on top of my Maze bank tower office. We finally got that move down, so let's hope aircraft carrier AND Lazer is on the list, I'm a lil tired of stealing one in the military base... Would be nice to spawn near one (when residing in the aircraft carrier)..

 

We can only hope.... But there's a definite possibility, as it would be THE most expensive item ingame yet (IMWO) and the possibilities for gunrunning would be tremendous.

I WANT to own it, but if they do add it to freemode, it'll probably be a set piece for missions.

 

They could do a lot with it.

Go there to steal new aircraft, go to steal guns or prototype stuff, go to destroy everything on deck so the military can't send jets after you etc.

As for the real question weither or not they will make it to spawn during a regular freeroam session...i again somehow doubt it since rockstar, even though they build a very flawed online mode, somehow is against simply giving players acces to stuff like interiors and such as in a futile attempt to make the freeroam experience look more a finished product.

 

It being owned by players...not gonna happen i think...though it would make money, i think consoles might not be able to handle it

The Lazer Is the second thing I most want. I know some have voiced an objection but think of it this way--the VTOL is a huge advantage in the Hydra because of where it can spawn in. Some would switch to the Lazer because it is the new thing, has some advantages, etc. and of course can only be in one jet at a time.

If gunrunning is the theme, then sure, why not!?

It would be easy enough to code into the game, much like a standing military base out in the ocean.

In my opinion, there's SO much wasted opportunity out on the ocean.

When Yachts came, I thought we'd be able to wage some serious war with one another, able to move our behemoths at our leisure.
Boy, was I disappointed and now we can't even sell the buggers. ugh.

But, yes, back OT, I would love to see the aircraft carrier and think, based on the military aspect, it would be reasonable.

As others stated, it would not be for purchase, of course, again like the military base; but rather, it'd probably be a fixture to which we'd have to travel to.

I would imagine some interesting NPCs and contacts would emerge, like Sgt. Scubadave or Colonel REXX.

One thing's for sure, you've got me thinking about this DLC, where I wasn't before... and that's awesome! Cheers!

@fw3, not sure why so many think it there is little to no chance it is added for private ownership.

 

Rule #1, will this generate Shark Card Sales. Oh f*ck yes.

 

Rule #2: does it require a ton of work on RS's part. From creation perspective, no, already in he game. From a computer programming perspective, not sure.

 

I think a lot of the people saying no way are basing that more on what they want and less on how RS has operated to date from a financial perspective.

As for answering the questions...i think it could happen that they get implemented...but owned ?

Sadley...i doubt it, even though i would not mind it.

 

If they implement it for owning though...it raises also a few interesting questions, like how could it be an practical thing to own ?

Well...for an example...i think it only could be done if all interiors are closed down period or closed down in the same way yacht interiors are.

Further i bet they should strip the whole place from all interesting objects like the lazer jets, bombs and maybe even all containers laying everywhere.

 

After that is done...well...it would sure be great to have 2 to 6 pegasus aircraft capable to spawn on the thing, but besides being an arse and grief with said vehicles and the obvious awsome factor i doubt many players would keep using it tbh.

 

As for it simply spawning in freeroam...seems perfectly doable by me...but again question would be in what way it would be used.

Well the Yacht started out as a prop in one of the Heist setups. Then in graduated into a place for adversary modes and then ownable property that is required for Piracy Prevention.

 

We might get the Aircraft carrier as an ownable property since it's past the "Heist setup" and "adversary mode" stages and (just like the yacht) it might come with some extra vehicles and aircraft on and around it.

 

BUT

It's highly unlikely.

@KWF, as for Heist exclusive, same could be said about Yachts, and they were added. From what I read, Yachts were one of the most requested things. I have no idea if same is true about the AC.

 

@ Darth, it feels almost exactly like the Yacht in terms of how it would work. Interiors would be off limits to all but the owner. Just like heli automatically spawns on yacht, all flying Pegasus vehicles could spawn on AC (if memory serves, I think there was room for 6 or 8 jets from heist but that could be wrong). I do think much like the Yachts, the novelty would wear off and they won't be used much, but that doesn't matter to RS-- cash card sales would be final.

Are you sure about that? I'm sure there are shipyards in S. Korea or France that would be happy to build one for the right price. Non-nuclear and in the typical size of carriers (not "supercarriers" like US, Russia, France, or China).

Many countries might deny port entry, but that's a relatively small problem. The 10- or 11-figure price tag and tens of millions per year to operate and staff it would be the biggest problem.

The more I think about it the more I am convinced this is the least likely scenario: why go through the programming trouble to add this to free mode (for one or two missions mind you) if RS doesn't profit from this? As I have often said, people refuse to analyze these things through a business/profit equation.
