judging people on their level

In this installment of the "judging people" series, initially introduced by forum mate, vnus_dmlo, it'd be interesting to learn how folks just others purely on ranking.

Like the previous installments, judging people on their cars and judging people on their clothes, it's a fascinating social examination regarding the way we all share the same enthusiasm and passion for GTAO, yet when we play, we often perceive others in a more personal light. Something as simple as a level 15 shooting a Minigun (unlocks at level 120) or seeing a level 8000 in the player list can affect how we perceive those players and judge them accordingly.

For this thread, the topic is Judging People on their Level.
When I see another player I look at a certain things to get a judge of their character, like their outfit, the car they drive, and especially their level.

One's level can reveal specific facets of how they play or what they're capable of –
What weapons they carry, vehicles they may have, experience with the game, and even how effective they'll be in Races, Missions, Jobs, Heists, VIP, etc.

What patterns have you noticed in people's levels and in-game behaviour? (typical griefing levels, low levels playing like higher levels, etc)
Do you judge people based on their level? if so, what numbers do you view most favourably and least?
Have you ever sought out or murdered someone based purely on their level/rank?
(eg. I like to kill low levels, just to show them how GTA is played, or I like to kill higher levels, just to show them they aren't impervious)
What are the most memorable levels you've encountered in GTAO and what did it say about the player?
Lemme know down below.

Cheers,

fw3 & vnus_dmlo

Mr Level 8k would be the number 1 on my list. Intense tryhard with invisible outfit, and helmet. Usually ghosted and jacked up on bull shark 24/7. Eventually leaves after getting bodied. It also sends you messages on how you suck, and abuse the crap out of passive. They fear bounties, and end up hiding on a yacht or leaving.

Summary of all level 8000s ever. Lucky I'm a friend of one, and he usually mentions this too xD

Anyways I'm level 65, and I'm a really good shot, so what does that say?

Being at 330 or so now, when I encounter a level 65 I typically expect him/her to be an easy target.

However, when they own me 8v2, I usually slink away, tail between my legs, and recognize when I've humbled.

And to be honest, I often send a message to them, "owned by lvl 65. LOL!!" and they "LOL" back.

Everyone below rank 1000 are n00bs and should go back to sucking mommys tit.

I know this for a fact, I've been above rank 1000 for 3 days now.

And daaamn those pesky low levels are pissing me off, useless scrubs. lol

Seriously though, I don't pvp so I coulden't care less about others rank.

Maybe I would think twice about allowing a low rank in my heist, and a rank 8000 will be kicked.

Haven't hosted a heist with randoms in ages though.

When I look at the kill feed in public sessions it seems like people just below 100 and the modded ranks are the ones that try hardest to grief.

Jet pilots are often rank 95 or 8000 from the looks of it.

That just made my day!

I might be that level 65. Give me a Heavy Sniper and I could be your worst nightmare lol. I am a easy target for the first kill because I'm pretty trustful of the fact that my friends invite nice people to my invite only sessions :D

Level 8000s deserve it though.

Having that high of a level and K/D is like saying "come get some motherf*ckers!" to everyone.

Please don't kill me though. I'm just in the desert doing wheelies for 10k every 5 minutes.

Basically like a stripper.

Level 10 and a gold star. A bronze or silver star at level 8 or 9 is quite an achievement, but nothing says 'boss' like a golden star.

This is the GTA IV forum, right?

I look at K/D first, this determines to me what I like to call "credit card fraud", as anything over 3.00 then I know they're up to no good (not always the case as some players are actually skilled, meaning those who are not a "suicide king" or afraid to die), same thing for anything ranked over 1500. I don't pay attention to rank 8000s as they as just thirsty for attention to begin with.

I'm lvl 319 and I don't care much about ranks tbh, it's GTA after all. Whenever I host setups/finals, I don't kick lvl 40+ and 8000.

I hate how people are suspicios of a legit 400 + up level player like myself nowadays. I get kicked from deathmatch lobbies and adversary modes. you can be level 50 and still have a modded account.

I try to keep track of levels of players because I don't want to accidentally murder a bunch of level 90s or lower. They're usually either inconsolably hostile, or have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

Then there's the level 8k players who either live in a jet or have a pistol taped to the side of their bulletproof helmets for easy access. All bark and no bite, usually. They're also usually the ones to blow themselves up on the door in Pac Standard.

I only really care about rank in heists. I'd rather play with 120 or higher, for full weapon access. And really, the higher the better, because i'm judging a higher ranked player as having more experience. Except 8000's. In any game mode, they gotta go.

Ah, this is the reverse – being judged against based on level (hmm... maybe a new thread idea? lol!)

Sadly, it happens a lot to me and I'm still at 330 or so. It bothers me to get kicked, especially in Missions or Heists, when I know the experience benefit I bring to the table.

Back in the 2013-2015 period, it was normally to chastise players whose rank was over 300, because it was still fairly rare.

But nowadays, seeing a legitimate 600-800 is not uncommon and when they completely own you, it's clear why.

What's rare now is to come across a level 744 who sucks like a Eureka vacuum. I just don't get that!

Usually the higher rank they are, the better they are in pvp combat and co-op missions. Basically, the higher the level, the easier it is for me to assume that they know what they're doing. I don't really trust anyone under rank 100.

Being a rank 810 myself, you could say I know a few things here and there ;)

Nothing wrong with that bro. My opinion is towards those who falsely portray themselves as the greatest GTA player alive. Knowing damn well they cheated to get to the top Edited by RedDagger

I only judge 8000's, they ask for everything they get.

I never assume low levels are noobs either, there are a lot of low level second characters lurking to sucker people in.

Having said that, unless they're in my crew I'm not heisting with low ranks, too many bad experiences.

When I see someone with a larger level than 1000 (on PC nonetheless) I just go "yee f*ck this session, I'm oout".

But people judge waay too much on levels. Whenever I randomly join a friendly session they just go "kick rank 350" or "kick the <extra-number> one". And whenever I see the "Players are voting you out blah blah blah" I just go "Wow, rude" and switch sessions.

1-What patterns have you noticed in people's levels and in-game behaviour? (typical griefing levels, low levels playing like higher levels, etc)

2-Do you judge people based on their level? if so, what numbers do you view most favourably and least?

3-Have you ever sought out or murdered someone based purely on their level/rank?

4-What are the most memorable levels you've encountered in GTAO and what did it say about the player?

i spend 90% of my time in freeroam, so this is an assesment based on my experience.

1-each range of levels have like it own pattern that almost everyone follows.

when it comes to low levels there are 2 types, the low level(noob) and the low level(second character). the noob tend to be more careless, would instantly send a one on one when killed and would keep coming after you trying to get revenge. the second character is very easy to spot once the action starts, the tactics it use, the way it moves and engages and ofcourse it would send messages taunting you (ha got rekt by a X level)

the high levels also have 2 types, the high level(legit) and the high level(modded account). the legit high level tend decent on the game, know their way around and use every tactic know and then some, on occations would suicide to deny you a kill. the modded accounts are easy to spot, not only because of their rank but because the tryhardism emanates from their e-pores, tend to use and exploit every feature like ghost org and passive mode(switching), if they get a kill it would be followed by a "lay down bitch" scream/message. would turn on passive mode and run to their apartment/yacht if getting their ass kicked.

2-i only use ranks to have an idea of what i may encounter when/if i attack them, but its becoming a useless thing to do, evenmore when dlc guns are not level locked and are in most cases more effective than the level locked counter parts.

3-i normally attack at random without checking the rank, but when i feel like attacking people based on their rank, obvious modded accounts are on top of list.

4-i once joined 3 guys from the same crew to do some heists, they were all 800+ ranks, and failed miserably everytime, it says that being a high level does not guarantee success.

I took his kdr from 121000 something down to like 9000 something. He probably didn't have a lot of kills because it was only like 19 to 4 when he went passive.

I then put a bounty on him.

He left the lobby soon after.
