Hi fellow forum people,

 

This topic is dedicated to discuss and share our opinions on GTA Online's combat aspect both in PvP and PvE. It's main subjects are the combat system and the different combat situations/features. Those are some wide subjects so i am hopeful that with everyone's opinion and experience we can make an interesting and helpful topic as long it stays about the combat aspect/system/features/tools/details/situations/experiences, it can be also funny facts/experiences about combat situations and the combat aspect itself.

 

I had a lot of personal conclusions/observations about the combat system and some combat situations/how to deal with them but, correct me if i am wrong, there is no specific topic to combat, only some more wide, none the less interesting topics like share your stories, GTA online tips and tricks, how to win at GTA O, Why grief and more ... Those are the reasons behind this topic.

 

I do have a lot to share in this topic but it is very specific and now is not the good time for that I think it is better to start the discussion with some wide subjects and afterwards get to details.

 

I will try my best to edit the topic and adapt it to the way the discussion is going and update the subjects and themes:

It would be myself one on one with any other player. Both of us out in the open with Assault Rifles. I bet my KDR is 15.00 in that situation.

What combat situation do you have the most trouble facing in combat, and how do you face it?

 

Usually in PvP with players who spam nothing but explosives. How do I face it? Well, normally I'll go Passive and go on a Boat'n'Trailer hunt then surprise them.

 

What combat situation are you the most comfortable in when you are in combat and why?

 

I'm most comfortable in PvE. Been playing "almost" since launch and have used that time to observe how NPC's react during combat. I mean I'm mostly comfortable in most PvP situations too, just as long as the guy(s) I'm up against don't start using cheap tactics.

 

Favourite assault rifle is the Bullpup

i always wondered if people prefer Bullpup because of its performance or because of its look. I like both Bullpup and Special Carbine but i find the Bullpup has crazy recoil.

Though I do like the Special Carbine, my favorite is the Advanced Rifle. I prefer the bit of extra range and dps over the accuracy.

Chose the Sweeper over the Assault shotgun. Though the are hardly comparable, as they are used in totally different situations, I prefer having my sweeper on the bike than the assault on foot.

 

What weaponized vehicles do you use the most and for which purpose ?

Buzzard, mostly for getting from A to B quickly and for quick completion of some missions.

What do you like about GTA Online's combat system ?

Variety of weapons at your disposal.

The weapon wheel. For consoles it's the best and most fluent form of changing weapons imo.

What do you hate about GTA Online's combat system ?

The few weapons like the RPG and Marksman rifle that are a bit to OP and make the choice of weapons unbalanced in some situations.

The combat-roll; auto aim should break, but you shouldn't be near invincible.

Passive abusing; When you kill someone, you shouldn't be able to use it for at least a few minutes.

Do You prefer PvP Combat or PvE Combat ?

PvP. The PvE is just ridiculous; you get shot in the head with every bullet from 100 meters out and owned by a single npc, yet you can easily kill 30 npc's from 5 meters out as long as you're hiding behind something.

What combat situation do you have the most trouble facing in combat, and how do you face it ?

Real tryhard marksman strafers and experienced jet griefers.....I just go passive, often even when they aren't even that good at it; I just don't really care much for those fights.

What combat situation are you the most comfortable in when you are in combat and why ?

Being chased in a car. I've turned throwing stickies on the ground and detonating them at exactly the right time into an artform. Anyone can blow up another car when they're 10 meters behind, but I like to do it when they are +100 meters behind so they think they don't stand a chance at all in any form of combat. 4 out of 5 times they don't come near me after that.

Also long range sniping. I'm not the best sniper in terms of clean shooting, but in long range sniping the shot is mostly made by knowing at what moment it's best to take the shot; predicting a turn or crash, or knowing where the line of sight is best.

- Buzzard, it gets me to my destination safely, also helps in PvE and a 1 one 1 situation.

- Hydra, when I gotta go fast, when there's a bad apple in their Hydra killing folk or generally suppressing an area.

 

What do you like about GTA Online's combat system ?

 

Tbh, I don't quite know. Throwing grenades without the need to change weapon is quite cool.

 

Do You prefer PvP Combat or PvE Combat ?

 

PvE by far; sure whilst the AI have ungodly aim, with friends it's a great experience, you get to use vehicles which are really weak in freemode, like the Tank, Savage etc.

 

What combat situation do you have the most trouble facing in combat, and how do you face it ?

 

Wiggle dancers/Marksman Rifle Wigglers, RPG to the face or Buzzard can help but I usually go passive, no time for their bs.

Personally I love the carbine. It's great for headshots but if I need power I'll pull out my Special Carbine with a Drum Mag

 

OT:

- I use my Insurgent or the CEO Buzzard to get around if I need to.

- I prefer PvE over PvP because it's fun using strategy.

- The hardest for me to kill are players that RPG and suicide. I usually just passive if they do this.

Buzzard, hands down. Flexible, fast, effective. Fairly easy to find a new one if when it gets shot down.

 

What do you like about GTA Online's combat system?

 

Not much, other than the variety of weapon choice that (hopefully) will soon get larger.

 

What do you hate about GTA Online's combat system?

 

Serious lag and hit box issues, TP vs. FP inconsistencies, poor FP implementation (scaling a fence), and the combat roll needs to go. Silly things like falls depleting body armor (body armor absorbs bullets; not falls). Lack of usable stealth. Crouch and prone should be added. BF3's smooth-as-silk character movement, realistic sound effects, FP on-screen weapon size and positioning puts GTA Online's system to shame...seriously.

PvE.

 

What combat situation do you have the most trouble facing in combat, and how do you face it?

 

Sniping. I simply try to avoid it if possible; make the best of it if not.

Vehicle vs. vehicle. Give me a good vehicle, and I can either evade or attack more effectively than other situations.

BTW guys, i hope i will not look stupid by saying this but you can't use your custom weapon load out in heists/missions right?

 

What is the use of the weapon locker if it works only in freemode ?

 

Anyways i found a way to deal with this, i simply get rid the the weapons i don't use with L1 + Triangle, but still, weapon locker should prevent me from having to do this.

What weaponized vehicles do you use the most and for which purpose ?

 

Buzzard. Gets me from one point to the next. I sometimes end up driving back and forth to LSIA hoping it will spawn so I could initiate Headhunter and Sightseer. Plus, it's a good help with delivering Special Cargo back to my warehouse faster than on the road. Especially if it's 3 crates I gotta get and I'm usually solo. So I won't feel so concerned of the time and distance.

 

What do you like about GTA Online's combat system ?

 

Two words. Weapon Wheel. A smooth way to choose weapons instead of pressing left or right on the D-Pad to reach the assault rifle on the other end. And it's pretty neat in my eyes. I hope to see the weapon wheel again.

 

What do you hate about GTA Online's combat system ?

 

Combat roll, and hand-to-hand combat. A variation of different ways to dodge incoming bullets besides rolling would be nice. I dislike when I get myself into someone else combat rolling to get a shot at me. Sadly, it forces me to do the same.

 

Hand-to-hand combat has gotten very inaccurate where I don't want to get into fist fight deathmatches with more than one individual. And on top of that, no variety of fighting styles. Everyone has the same exact kick, dodge, and punch. And there are no animation mixups of those kicks, dodges, and punches.

 

Do You prefer PvP Combat or PvE Combat ?

 

PvE Combat. Despite the respawns and/or their assault rifles sometimes shooting like miniguns in missions like Rooftop Rumble, Stocks and Scares, etc., I can stand that. As for PvP, I don't get myself into PvP combat most of the time in Freemode.

 

What combat situation do you have the most trouble facing in combat, and how do you face it ?

 

Those damn sniper dancers, players using RPGs, players using explosives, and just tryhards in general. I try to avoid it. But sometimes, I fight through it hoping I survive the battle. Sometimes, I even shoot the explosives in their hand or shoot it as soon as they throw it so it can blow up before it reaches me or they'll die in their own explosion.

 

What combat situation are you the most comfortable in when you are in combat and why ?

 

Drive-bys and blind fire. When it's blind fire, it's a challenge for the both of us hoping one bullet hits the head instead of peeking. Plus, I get lucky with blind firing with my Pistol.50.

 

When it's drive-bys, usually when I'm being hunted on the road, it's easier for me to get a good shot and it's a nice view where the head is visible. When it's the other way around, I get anxious thinking that they have an explosive ready to throw or an explosive set on the road.

 

My favorite assault rilfe is the Special Carbine. Love the G36C. Used that assault rifle a lot in game out of most of the assault rifles. That's my numero uno in the assault rifle class.

My buzzard, it's just too damn easy to call it with my CEO abilities and it's half transportation and half to fight NPCs.

What do you like about GTA Online's combat system ?

I dunno, it's cool? I like how you can be creative with it, heh, I'd like to see you run someone over in a banged up tornado while shooting at them with a pistol in counter strike.

What do you hate about GTA Online's combat system ?

Well... combat does get a little boring when a hydra shows up I suppose.

Hydras. f*cking Hydras. I run like my ass is on fire (usually it is) so I can hide in one of my properties like the little bitch I am.

What combat situation are you the most comfortable in when you are in combat and why ?

Probably one where I'm in a car and they're not, I guess I like the advantage. Higher ground is always nice too. And the element of surprise makes both even better
