[GTAO] And Suddenly, You Find Yourself Alone…

You logged on about 15-30 minutes ago and you're in a moderately crowded lobby.

 

You've got a mugger going after another player, there's a Jet griefer who is zipping around overhead, causing concern, but not panic yet, and players are out and about doing their thing.

A message comes up that informs you there are players transporting cargo or I/E cars while another tells you a bounty was placed on someone else.

 

You just got off the phone with the mechanic and are waiting for your car.

As you knock down a pedestrian, out of boredom, suddenly and without warning, the lobby crashes!

One by one, player after player, they all leave.

Another message comes up telling you that you're now in a lobby by yourself... alone... no one.

1. What is your initial reaction (glad, angry, frustrated, etc)?
2. What do you immediately do (keep playing where you are, find a new session, join/start a job, shut down altogether)?
3. If you choose to stay, what do you do exactly?
4. If you choose to stay, how long to you play alone?
5. If you choose to stay, what do you do after you're bored playing alone (find a new session, join/start a job, shut down altogether)?

 

I know for me, I get really ticked off because I enjoy being in the realm with other players, even if it's not going my way - something about being part of online is very gratifying.
If the lobby dumps, then I'll stick around for a while. I may do some I/E work, cargo collecting, etc. I sometimes rearrange my garages, sell cars, paint some, etc.
After a while, though, I get bored. I'll find another session, but if it's empty, I'll likely just shut down.

Of course, there are times when I'll end up in an empty lobby – except for one or two other players.
And then I get the message, "Players are voting to kick you from the lobby."

That really burns a whole in my upholstery!

But, this post is about you and what you'd do.

So, any thoughts?

1. Depends really, if it's during a freemode event it annoys me, but other than that, I feel relieved.

 

2. Mainly, I'd stay for a while.

 

3. When I suddenly find myself alone, I usually make the most of it and collect a few crates and sell a few I/E cars.

 

4/5. Usually until I get bored or feel like going back into an Invite Only session and continue my usual playing style.

There is something harrowing about being in a GTAO session alone. I don't like it. It makes me uncomfortable.

Used to be I'd go to work and do a bunch of supply and sell runs and I/E sales (still do that). Nowadays I'm usually trying to race and I like big lobbies. I got a cheap win the other day when 14 other racers suddenly left at the same time.

My initial reaction is one of happiness. If I am with a number of friends I invite them back. We sell cars, do Biker stuff and generally help each other.

 

If the lobby gets too busy and chaotic, whether it be with jet wankers and just being full-ish, we do the solo session glitch. We do shoot to kill when necessary.

Haven't experienced this since the time the modmenus infested gta online. Since then I took steps and I'm alone all the time... Once that was nice, as it was a choice. Now it's a necessity to protect my character, which makes it way less appealing... I miss the occasional races, freeroam fun,... , but ok... It is what it is...

Seeing how I keep my MTU set at around 700, I find myself alone all the time , but those times that I like playing in populated lobbies, if I see that people are leaving and it gets down only a handful, I find a new session.

In general, if a session empties I take advantage and grab/sell a car at least for sure, a quick, painless $80k in this frosty game is a must, lol...

 

Usually, it doesn't bother me but when I'm in jobs or with friends and it happens, especially on a competitive job and in a good battle for the win, it can really make me swear out loud...

 

Nothing like trying to have epic battle, for it to go flat...

 

And try texting a random saying so... They all 'know for a fact' I quit like a bitch, Bless... Naive fools...

 

Can lead to arguments, a shame, but heard it often and has with me too...

I only ever play solo public lobbies.

If on the rare occasion I would be in a normal lobby and this happened. I would be very happy, I'd do my CEO/VIP work, drive around a bit, enjoy Los Santos as the only person there.

I'd stay there as long as was possible. If one or two others landed in the lobby - quick "friendly" message, and we all go about our business.

I intentionally desync myself from lobbies pretty much every time I play, so I'd probably just get right to the grind, skipping the entire process because the bad netcode did it for me.

I quickly register as CEO, source a vehicle, sell a vehicle, run sightseer, switch over to MC president, supply up my coke business, switch back to CEO, source vehicle. Hopefully by that point I can sell again, if not, run sightseer and check again.

 

I also keep checking the player list. If anyone joins, I become paranoid and keep checking the map for any movement in my direction. If I so much as see them take a step towards me, drop everything and hide in a building. If it's a vehicle source/sale, rush to the destination. If it's MC stuff, just desync from the lobby right away.

 

That's before this whole PC stat manipulation thing happened, of course.

Shrug, do other stuff like driving my cars and seeing which one needs improvement in customization, change my character's clothing, and turn off the game or go back to GTA V and play around with Director Mode and Editor. I'm that bored with GTA Online.

I'll be honest, I sometimes do get a little creeped out when the lobby empties.

 

This is me:

 

• Lobby full of players, doing all sorts of stuff

• It's night time

• I'm happy out in the middle of nowhere, past Sandy Shores, riding my Aqua Blazer up the rivers & rapids by myself

• Suddenly, the lobby empties and I'm alone

• The message appears, "You are alone..."

• I get thoroughly weirded out! lol!

• I go back to the city where, at least, there's NPCs around

 

The worst is when you get to a highway or road, and there's no cars... not a single car in sight!

So creepy to be wandering on a road, on foot, in the middle of the night, with no players and no NPCs.

Sometimes, I'll call 9-1-1 just to have the cops come out so I can have someone to play with! LOL!

If I want to have my "own lobby" I just set my firewall-rule to the needed settings - otherwise I'm like...

Once that happens it's either I'm in a 1vs1,2...4 fight against an attacking MC/CEO group I'm very p*ssed because it looks for them I've left on my own - instead I was kicked by the game - smh. So angry here because of my thoughts about what the others think why I've left.

I'm kind of stressed (mostly) so I find another session and start griefing with a Savage until I die (which usually comes fast but cools me down, anyway)

Once this is happening - I just go on relax-mode and start filling up my crates/car-warehouse for a couple of runs which means....
4. If you choose to stay, how long to you play alone?

...for arround three carsales and 9-12 crate runs
5. If you choose to stay, what do you do after you're bored playing alone (find a new session, join/start a job, shut down altogether)?

Based on my experience I'll join a random heist - preffered low-levels to teach them all tricks I know and get back thankfulness and admiration (you've asked - I'll answear truthful) - If they doesn't deliver^^ I'll spawn kill them and the whole lobby (Savage) until I die (again) - log of the game and play Banished^^

Funny, but I react very similarly to you in no. 2, where I do the exact same thing.

 

It's kind of a "well, game, if you're going treat me like squat, them I'm gonna squat all over the next session! so HA!" and I just grief the lobby with a Buzzard, Hydra, or Savage.

I'll do it until something snaps me out of it, like a Free Roam event or someone running cars r' cargo.

Depends. If I'm in the middle of a 10-minute long freemode event & I'm winning, I get annoyed. If not, I'm glad they saved me the loading times to go into a solo public lobby.

I check the VIP work section, if I can start something, I'll start headhunter & get to work afterwards. If Its glitched, I curse & proceed to get a new solo public lobby.

As long as my schedule permits or when the lobby gets populated again, than I proceed to a solo public lobby again.

No such thing for me. I'm not exactly what you call a social person. I play GTA like Its 1997, solo!

If i wanted to be alone i would play story mode.
