Story mode props in online lobbies.

Recommended Posts

Blank Mirror

There's this weird glitch/bug/thing that happens sometimes, which makes story mode props transfer over to the online lobbies.
I've only encountered this one time before (over 120 days playtime since 2013). But today it happened twice, in two different lobbies!

So why does it happen? Is there a known way to trigger it? Is it happening more often lately to more people?
And most importantly, does this enable us to do fun things which we wouldn't be able to do otherwise?

What else is possible in this online/singleplayer mashup? Could there be animals? How does this all even work?

Feel free to post pictures or videos of these story mode props in online.

What props are you talking about? I don't see anything out of place here...

First picture: boxes and pallets in front of store.

Second picture: gates that slide open at Unit 2 Popular street.

Third picture: wooden barriers in front of Maze Bank Tower garage entrance.

one notable prop is the one on maze bank's garage entrance , the barrier shouldn't be there if the garage was purchased

Ok I get that one, but I don't see what's odd about some pallets in front of a shop.

Can someone explain please?

Online uses minimal world props in the map to make it more stable, if there were full sessions of the story mode map it'd be incredibly laggy and buggy.

Ah yes, that makes sense, cheers

remember the parking lot fence that across mission row parking lot where rooftop rumble takes place?

that one didn't exist in online mode

I would check it out, but I just got sent back to story mode. I reloaded into online and everything is back to its normal state... :(

The most noticable prop to me is the sliding gate at the Unit 2 Popular street garage. I use it to store streetcars to sell, so I come there all the time.

Pretty weird to see a sliding fence there all of u sudden! It's also more than just a prop, it has an actual use: it slides open when you get close to it.

Not sure if this is related, but I've noticed gates in certain locations spawn in for me sometimes but not others. I own a car warehouse next to and sort of behind the airport LSC, and there's a side entrance through the fence which is mostly always open (no fence/gate blocking the entrance). But I've noticed when I go into the warehouse and initiate a sale, when I spawn back outside, that entrance is closed. The fence or gate there doesn't open either, so if I want back through the way I came in I have to sticky bomb it. Although usually I just choose to drive around via the main entrance on the other side.

Also noteworthy, this doesn't seem to affect my friends. I've started car sales with them and had the very obnoxious experience of crashing into a gate I didn't expect to be there, then they crash into me because the gate isn't there for them and they don't expect me to stop.

It's certainly possible but I don't visit that location much, so I wouldn't know if something had changed.

Also, most of us aren't very familiar with these props since we just don't play storymode anymore...

It happens when the game mistakenly loads the SP .#MAP file for props instead of the one used for network mode. Probably just random chance, could just be a memory bug.

So it just uses a wrong file for props, there's no chance of animals being in this online/singleplayer mashup lobby?

It happened twice today, I think both times is was after quitting from a contact mission. You'd think someone would have found a way to get into these lobbies right? With all the other weird glitches people have managed to figure out...

Are there other players in the session? If not and you're alone then it might be the infamous glitch which also unlocks all interiors. It happened to me a few times and I did manage to find a dog online but it took me a long time of flying around, I managed to find a Rottweiler dog by Trevor's trailer:, didn't see any other animals though but I don't remember specifically looking for it: http://m.imgur.com/wSzBx4s?r

This was on PS3.

Animals do not spawn in Online because the .#SC file that spawns them at specific location is not used in Online (if I recall correctly, all scripts must be valid for network mode), and they have no entry in popgroups.#MT's network listings, such as "POPGROUP_AMBIENT POPGROUP_SCENARIO POPGROUP_NETWORK_COMMON".

See that is the gta I want online. Not the gimped version

Was possible for current gen online, but they decided to instead give us double the amount of maximum players in freeroam sessions instead.

Worst of all is that sessions bigger then 14 16 or so aren't even f*cking stable.

Simple, it's the creator mode glitch. You can also get tractors, blimps, cargo planes, etc. Can't store them, but you're able to drive em. Note, it's not the same one as spawning in trains. That one was just stupid.

It's not the creator mode glitch, I just spawned in after doing a contact mission. I never use the creator mode (or do any glitch purposely for that matter).

Yea well....to the "credit" of rockstar on this one, back in the day of old gen only people were more concerned with getting more players in the lobbies instead of getting more props and variation of traffic and such in it....so yea...on this one can't say they did not listen to the voice of the community to be honest....ugh....

It's been doing this for a while (on XB1, anyway), as I've seen road cones over at Rockafeller Plaza, barricades in front of Maze Bank garage, and weird NPC dupes that you don't usually see.

Kifflom, indeed!

Now you mention it I've had a similar thing happen to me but only once and it was probably about 2 years ago. I started Rooftop Rumble and the car park across the road from where the enemy NPCs are had a fence around it, just like single player.
