Racing in GTA Next?

Vehicles always have been a vital aspect of the GTA series, and one of more popular side missions in the series are racing events scattered through out the in-game worlds of GTA. It's a no brainer that in some shape or form it would appear in GTA Next. But the question is? How would you implement racing as a sort of feature in GTA VI? Also what do you think would Rockstar do with the racing aspect of the next GTA?

Personally, I would keep the old forms of racing seen in previous GTA's, but I would like to see an introduction to circuit racing. Before anyone would say it's rather too complicated for GTA, circuit racing can be plausible as long as it does serve it's purpose within the context of the game. For example, the protagonist is instructed by mission boss to steal a racing car on a circuit while disguised as one of the competing racers. But you must win the race, and run away with the car to deliver it to said boss' warehouse. Sorta reminiscent of the mission "Fairplay" from Mafia 1, but stylized for GTA. Unlike Mafia 1, the circuit can be used after the mission, you can enter race events with different race classes like the usage of bikes, SUV's, sedan's, supercars, etc. A game set in Vice City/Florida can either feature a circuit based on Sebring, or even Daytona. It will be like a more in-depth version of the Hotring Racer side mission in Vice City, but it will not be as detailed, and complicated like Forza.

Circuit racing would be cool. I also wouldn't mind seeing some on street drag racing too. Maybe it could be a full rip on the Fast And The Furious with the 50 gear change sequences and NOS!!!! :D

Drag racing would be so cool, especially with wheelie bars already part of vehicle customization in V, I would love to see proper usage, and do wheelies while drag racing. Also a manual gearbox would be available within the mode would be so nice! I'd like it to be how NFS Most Wanted implemented it; races can be determined by the proper usage of the shifter, and of course oncoming traffic can be a factor too. But with the proper control of the car, not just changing lanes. Manual might be to far-fetched, but at least be present to drag races to make racing more unpredictable, and interesting.

Depending on the game's setting, it wold be cool if you could enter a Redneck-ish racing competition, with Dirt tracks, Rallycross, Rally, Figure 8s, Demo Derbys, etc. It would also be cool to see the return of Stadium Events from Vice City and San Andreas.

Vice City Stadium was meh, it was just a boring circle track where you only need to turn left :p

I want to see circuits, sprints, drags and maybe... team racings (something like in

). Also, random police pursuits during racings (the police trying to arrest racers) would be awesome.

Team Racing, that's a nice idea. Need For Speed Carbon had that feature as well, it was pretty nice. Police during races would be pretty awesome too.

Dragstrip/Drag racing would be cool or even something like that race that was in TBOGT from Mori Kibbutz Mission: This Ain't Checkers

I'd also like to see an alternative simulation physics model for GTA Next. Basically, it would be a simple option to switch handling modes in the game's menu. Mafia II had this sort of feature and it will be great to see that GTA can cater both to those who like more simple, and arcade-like handling of GTA V, and the more realistic model from GTA IV. Of course I'd prefer simulation, nothing beats the challenge of trying to get the best out of available cars within the game.

Also, Pink Slips, and wagers might be a good idea too. It would immensely add replayability of the game, and would make in-game currency much more useful.

I would like to see them do a full blow racing sub-plot in the game, dedicating maybe 10-20 side missions. Make it similar to The Fast and the Furious 1 where you can meet up at secret meets and race for money. Have a bunch of different kinds of races, etc

Drag Racing would be fun, we had street races before but I'd like to see some more stuff, I liked V's off-road races, added some replay value.

An actual drag strip would be awesome, especially if they continued with the modding aspect for cars and gave us even more option for making cars faster. I'd love to drive around in GTA 6 with a 10 second car.

I think street racing should be more prominent in gta next, it should be like the 1st fast and the furious movie where it takes place in the early hours of the mornining when the roads are pretty empty and you should have more car customisations available especially relevant to performance like nos, manual shift avaiable, different tire types etc.

Races could also serve as a meeting point to make contacts in the underworld for other activities like drug dealing, gambling, gang activities etc.

Agh man, I'd have a ton to say about driving physics in general, but let's put it this way: I don't know is it possible for a game engine to contain 2 types of driving physics, but under the assumption it is possible, one should be exactly like the one in GTA V and the other should be "simulating the simulation" kind of driving. Not the actual simulation, but something where cars stick to ground very well, where you can properly drift, but where you are still able to cruise and enjoy the drive, something where different classes of cars really matter, where you can see proper car body roll, feel the wight of the car and feel the acceleration and speed, (especially not limiting top speed) something that envolves any kind of skill, etc, etc. To simplify things, driving mechanics that uses all advantages of both simulation and arcade types of driving physics.

I loved the sheer chaos involved in the Hotring at Vice City for sure, and always have wanted a recreation of that in later games. Maybe include some local short track where you can bring your modified car during weekends, alongside the usual street racing business.

As much as possible, drag races, street races, circuit races, off roading. Races where you can use a standard vehicle or modded races where you can use your modified vehicle. Races for every vehicle class, hone your driving skill in a wide variety of vehicles. Not forgetting air and sea races too. I'd like to see the return of the triathalon from TBoGT too. Parachuting+speedboats+sports cars=fun

Just get rid of the catch up and slip stream feature. Catch up shouldn't be a thing, it puts a racer who may have been ahead the whole race at a disadvantage. You should win or lose on your own. I'm an average racer, I have no problem losing to the better player, the game giving me an edge because i'm behind feels cheap, it's like the blue shell from Mario Kart.

I get that slipstream is a real life thing where the car in front displaces the air or something giving you a little bit more speed, or something like that. That's fine but it felt a bit too arcadey for me in V.

I miss online GTA Races from GTA IV.

GTA Race had a different level of excitement into it

I'd like to have the option to see different camera views of the race after it's done, like in Gran Turismo.

I just want grounded street racing like the original midnight club games. Race point A to point B, finding your own way to the finish line. f*ck hot wheels car stunt racing to sell overpriced hyper fast cars...Maybe a race course mini-game similar to the hotring stuff. Driving school would be cool too.

As long as there's cars I want the option to race from time to time. Also:

Foot Races

Horse Races

Drag racing .

Another thing they could think about is mountain climbing races.

I'd love to see a racing circuit in the next game, hopefully accompanied with a Drag strip.

Driver:Parallel Lines was great in this regard, you could fine tune your suspension and brakes and take any vehicle to the 3 racetracks the game had and try to beat your own times(because sadly the AI wasn't a challenge at all).
