Find, Recommend or Remember a Game

Recommended Posts

If anyone has played the Final Fantasy games, do you recommend them? I heard they're good..sort of, they are on sale on steam some, just need to figure out which one is the first one as they are many.. Or what even is the story.

If you like stealth games (like playing as a spy/commando going around government locations and such) I recommend the original Splinter Cell Trilogy (specifically Chaos Theory), just get used to the controls and should be fine, just the graphics are a problem but the AI is good you just have to stay in the shadows and be careful that's all, think realistically what you would do. They're 10 hours each if you know what to do/where to go.

Most probably have played these? But many newer players might not, I think these are really good if you haven't.

Hi, just looking for maybe game suggestions? Want to play something that could be similar to Grand Theft Auto games, but instead of being chased by the police, want to maybe play a game where you ARE a Cop or a Police Officer? And it’s your job in the game to chase/hunt down criminals?? Would you happen to know any good “COP” games for Xbox Series X? Thank you!

There's Sleeping Dogs, a game where the main plot is that you're an undercover cop infiltrating Hong Kong's criminal underworld. Also if I recall correctly there are some side missions that involve taking down criminals while wearing cop gear, so there's that.

In Saints Row 2 there's an activity called "Fuzz" where you dress up like a cop and go around the city taking down criminals in some of the most over-the-top ways possible, like apprehending streakers with a chainsaw, taking down steroid deals with a baseball bat, etc. Sometimes fellow officers will even aid you throughout the activity. But other than that, the main game is about running a gang and cops are one of your primary enemies.

on Xbox. I haven't played but its reviewed.

This second one not sure if Xbox is involved. It has Robo cop and the Police sim, I found your question interesting, I probably would never have known some of these. Looks fun.

Have a look at L.A. Noire and Condemned: Criminal Origins. The first one has also the detective part where you have to investigate some cases, you can free roam and chase bad guys in between the investigative activities, the second one is more a first person linear thriller.

There was the "True Crime" open world games, but I doubt they are available on newer consoles.

Last year I decided to finally try out a few of the FF titles as I've never played one in my life, so did a little read up on it all. The main take away that I got was that none of the games are related story-wise, gameplay wise etc, and that only a couple seem to share the same universe, but that's about it. Growing up, it seemed that FF7 and 8 were the most talked about by my friends that were into the games, and even to this day I'd say most people still regard 7 as the pinnacle of the 'series' (so much so it's been remade multiple times). FFX-2 HD is another one I always see been recommended.

Like I said, I've never played any of them myself, but purchased FF7 and 9 on my Switch earlier this year, and bought 16 for my PS5 too, whilst holding out for a sale on FFX HD to go on sale again on the Switch and for me to play through 7 before buying the Remake on PS5.

Always been a series I'd love to try at least once in my life.

Alan Wake 2 is utterly amazing.

I happily got my plat, one of the best games I’ve ever played. The first one was good as well but part 2 blows it away imo

If you like horror games, puzzles, highly recommend. The graphics are fantastic, the story envelopes you, and you get some jump scares.

Started it a few weeks back and was pleasantly blown away by the intro. Only stopped playing because I have a backlog of games and know I want to give this one a proper go at.

Anyway, just seen this game mentioned on a Reddit topic, and with how cheap and accessible it is, thought I'd mention it in here for those who may not have heard about it.

Yes it's obvious where the game takes inspiration from, but it pulls it off so well to make it it's own game. Definitely recommend this one!

Hi,

I'm looking for an alternative game to Rail Nation. I used to play it years ago, but quit because of the limited time I have to play games these days. Yes, being an adult sucks.

RN is a free web based game where you manage your railway "empire" and play with other real players through several eras, from steam engines all the way to electric ones.

What I love about the game (and what I seek in an alternative to it) is the fact that you have your very own rail depot where you can upgrade your buildings (upgrading the construction yard gives you more rail production which you can use to connect to more cities or industries, upgrading the bank gives you more interest payment, upgrading the laboratory speeds up your research, etc). I also love that your actions DO make an impact, so for ex. if you transport logs to production facility that makes boards, it will only make as many boards as it has logs. If the logs run out, the production stops. You can then transport boards to cities or other industries, so everything is connected.

What I don't like about RN and why I quit in the first place is, like I said, time. The game lasts for 3 months and runs 24/7 during that period. You are competing with other players, which is why you absolutely need to be online almost all the time or hire a sitter when you are asleep or otherwise engaged if you wish to finish in the top spots. Players who pay real money also have an advantage over you because they have access to information you do not have (e.g. the time each train needs to bring in goods, they can buy better, faster and more reliable trains than you, etc).

So, what I want is a game which allows you to do upgrades to improve your gameplay (it doesn't necessarily have to be a rail or transport game), a game where your actions matter, can be of any genre, but must be offline. The new DLC for Crusader Kings III "Roads to Power" fits this description perfectly, but unfortunately it's a Paradox game, i.e. very complex with a very steep learning curve. I already spent hundreds of hours learning the ins and outs of their Hearts of Iron IV game and it really felt like a chore.

What other games have "back tracking", linear ones mostly? Only I played from long time ago was Prince of Persia Warrior Within, didn't mind as the environments changed a lot when going back to each place. Not many use it anymore but it'd be interesting if more did for some parts not all.

Obviously depends on what type of game you're after to start off with, but one that springs to mind because I'm currently finishing it up is the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy. Upgrading your gear as you progress through the game means you 'unlock access' to previously blocked areas etc.

Backtracking with a purpose (unlocking new areas with newly acquired items etc) is a very metroidvania thing, games in that style/genre have it in abundance. Soulslike games have it a bit too IIRC.

Mister Pink

Can anyone recommend Lost Judgement? It's on sale and I'm thinking of getting it. It looks pretty mad. Same guys that make the Yakuza series.

RAGE 2's fast-paced first person gameplay was really similar to Cyberpunk 2077, I recently completed it. The shooting (with the extra tech stuff), it has similar upgrades, although far less. Sadly it lacks a good story, but it's a recommendation when it comes to gameplay I had fun, but it takes a while to get the double jump from an ark north of the map (look for arks in general for new weapons/abilities). Another thing is that the map felt alive most of the time, there was something happening on the roads and on the few small towns, it wasn't just a collectible/checklist simulator, you didn't even have to do everything to finish the story, it was just there to build up your weapons and abilities/upgrades, there is no "completion percentage" anywhere.

It was fun 30 hour experience (and the DLC were really great too, adding the island overgrown city and its characters) though I wish it had more to it than that. (only few things I hated is pretty much the story which is very boring and collecting data pads to learn more about the world/story/characters, just really lame, but yeah that's pretty much it, other than that it was a good game and a bit underrated.)

hi there, can anybody help me?

I wanna know which game this is:

edit: might be just fake footage to emulate a game.

I see it is from digital trends but which video exact? Maybe there's more from that game in that part, either game or something else. (unless there's a background video played by DT that is from Nvidia then idk)

Looks like it could be this game.

Thanks for your suggestion!

However i saw this exact footage once more somewhere else, and im pretty sure its an example of how graphics could look like.

So a small simulation to show off a TV its graphics, and not an actual game.

cheers

You're welcome.

Actually, you are right. I put the image into Lenso.ai and it comes from stock video sites. So you're right, it's not actually a game.

Did anyone else play this game back in the day?  Wish they'd make it available on PS5.  However SSX 3 is available on XSX, but that's about it.

Couldn't even tell you the amount of hours I've put into Tricky over the years, such a great game. For some reason I always seem to play as Moby first, then work on all the other characters. That Tokyo track was great for trying to rack up the highest possible score too. SSX 3 went a different path, in a good way (this game is the reasoning behind my username), and On Tour was just even better in every way possible, could never tire of it. These games always have to be part of my gaming collection no matter what.

EA Big was such a great company, then EA did the usual EA sh*t...

Arkham Asylum has plenty of back tracking.

Sort of recommendation. I played a bit of the first Watch Dogs again doing its online/side mission achievements and I noticed some details that in my first playthrough I didn't. When you take/save the pedestrians out of a vehicle during a shootout you can use the door as a cover to shoot through the window. Also like Mafia 3 surprisingly (another underrated one that had some details lacking in GTAs) you can stop your car with the tire turned, at least without the need to hold multiple buttons like in GTAV, I think it's a glitch on that one. But there's such small details that you miss, people tend to compare so much to GTA but these other games also do a  good job with their worlds and details.

Both of these were rushed it seems and had a bad launch, either downgraded a bit, bad ports or cut content so that's maybe why. But they are very good games on PC, especially with the "E3 graphics mod" and others.

For Watch Dogs there's different ways to execute some of the big side missions, like convoy and contracts (enemies get tougher by the end), it can be very cinematic like with Far Cry but this even more due to being third person and that you have more control on the environment with the hacking tools. Then you also have the hacking puzzles which becomes more difficult with each one. Overall, to me they put a lot of effort in this game, I recommend more should play it. Just the story has a slow start and the gameplay needs some time to get used to. I will be honest I think when it comes to the side content and few other stuff Watch Dogs does better and is more fun than GTA V (excluding GTA Online). But we should not compare them directly games like this, one game does well in this area while the other on another area.
